RE: Chicago Bypass
You could also take I-39 south to I-88, then east to I-355, then south to I-80. I-88 parallels I-80 to the north. It is a toll road, but has virtually no traffic. When we go from our home south of Chicago to Wisconsin and back this is our route.

RE: Fivers to avoid?
Have had two Crossroads Cruisers, a 2007 cf30sk and our current 2010 cf30sk Patriot edition. Have only had a couple of small issues with each that the dealer and crossroads took care of quickly. Spend three months each winter snowbirding. Love the units, the quality, price, features, etc. No frame issues with either one.

RE: what models 30' under with good counter space
We have the Cruiser cf30skp which is a triple slide with a side kitchen. It has more counter space than almost any 5'er I have seen. The Patriot addition like ours is now called the cf305sk. Great unit. It is our second one
