RE: Towed electric cord

Just curious...doesn't your connection at the toad have a cap lock? Mine has the same type insert that goes to any trailer with the cap locking the connector in....have NEVER had a problem with disconnecting as long as the cable isn't too long that it drags on the asphalt to begin with....IMHO, of course

RE: Why do I feel like appoligizing....??

You have what YOU want and what YOU can afford. My DW and I worked our butts off for many years to get to this point. Like most we started out years ago with a $200.00 used Pop up. Watch all the new motor homes pulling into the campgrounds, and would say, Yep someday that's going to be us!!
After many years of hard work, now it is!! Do I feel guilty? Hell no!
We are living the American dream IMHO.

RE: Scary situation--help?

...those of you who have experienced this, can you shed some light on what damage or effect, if any, you noticed on the toad, other than tire scuffing...thanks..Dennis
In my case the error was caused NOT BY TURNING SHARPLY WHILE TOWING... but having locked the toad steering the night before on a "city park" rest stop........it was locked about 1/6 turn from straight and towed about 20 miles until I stopped to see why the coach kept pulling to one side.....damage was contained to added mileage wear on the inside of left tire and outside of right tire on toad and the steering wheel is now about 1/2" off center when driving...don't think my case is the same os OP's...IMHO, of course

Charmin started doing this recently and we've blocked off the litter box.

RE: Out West

jamesuAnother idea: stab the needle of a compass into the 4 Corners area and draw a circle with a radius of 150 miles - spend a month exploring inside that circle within Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona.
THAT is the one I pick...excellent suggestion.....IMHO, of course

RE: Scary situation--help?

Were you towing a toad? My wheel will be off about 40 degrees if the toad steering is locked. No one should have to ask how I know.
I can identify with that...don't ask me how I know either......IMHO, of course

RE: Creede, Co RV parks

Googled Cottonwood Cove Creede CO...located east on hiway 149....website pics look like the typical open "parking lot.....IMHO, of course
more google...antlerslodge.com......no pics..... west on 149...most advertising is about lodge and meals...24 RV sites with 30 or 50 amp....
haven't been IN either one but passed many times...spent 2 nights at Mountainviews last July....well maintained but with many sites all gravel with grass strips (no dogs on grass)....sites were fairly good size but we really prefer the NF cgs based on the "natural" settings.....Mountainviews okay for a few days to "charge up" the batts and do the laundry, dump and refill water tank then back to the boonies for us....IMHO, of course

RE: What's in your roadside emergency kit

I'll add a 4" wide roll of eternabond, roller and cleaner. In case a tree branch attacks the roof........
Pat
More truth than fiction there...overnighted in Fort Morgan, CO city park last July...heard a thud in the night and looked outside for possible intruder...noone around...got up next morning in prep to leave and went to the park restroom...coming back to coach noticed a branch from the tree I had parked under on top of the coach...went up to remove and it had stuck in the roof just like an arrow...dime size hole had to be repaired at the local Wally before proceeding on...whoda thunk it!!!!!....IMHO, of course

RE: Dry Camping Question

that 800-lbs represents a small fraction, a tiny, miniscule fraction of the total weight of your DP so don't sweat the weight. we neber leave home or a campground for the next campground without a full or nearly full tank of fresh water (85-gal for us). .
X2 and we carry 90 gal...

RE: Oklahoma State Parks -- online reservations?

At your travelOK site type "campgrounds" in the SEARCH blank at the top right corner of the home page...you'll find over 400 campgrounds and 42 state parks to choose from....should have res abilities from there ....IMHO, of course
PS After further investigation I find "most parks are first come-first serve" and "some parks take reservations for preferred areas"...doesn't sound too promising for internet reservations, huh???

RE: RV/Marine Gutters... anyone use them?

Yep, I have used this several times. I put a long piece over the top of the entire windshield. This keeps the streaks from running down and making it dirty. On my previous coach I did this as well as putting in on several windows, (side and back). It works very well. Sometimes it doesn't stick on the end, so I used some super-duper double-sided tape stuff to stick it down, (just on one end). It needs to be soft and pliable when going around windows, (to the sides). If you can leave it out in the sun for a while to get warm, that will help. I put my roll in the oven for 15 minutes with it just warmed a little. (less than 150 degrees) Don't forget to clean the area with alcohol. I haven't had the need to do it to other windows on this rig.
X2! Works great as long as the "bend" isn't so sharp as to cause the gutter material to resist and come loose...IMHO, of course
PS went with white to match coach....

RE: Campgrounds in Nebraska and North Dakota

.
There is a KOA near Omaha on I80 at Gretna. I have heard some decent things about it, but have never been there.
We spent a weekend there a few years back...nothing to brag about...MANY long-term residents.....noisy weekends.....wouldn't stay there again unless no alternative....IMHO, of course

RE: Campgrounds in Nebraska and North Dakota

Yes we are taking our time about getting to West Yellowstone.
Thanks for all your help with the campgrounds.
If you're not in a hurry through Nebraska I would recommend our "scenic" e/w route, US20, ...at the east end you'll find Ponca state park just a few miles off the highway near Sioux City IA and on the west end you'll find Fort Robinson state park with a lot of history from the old west.......I80 is our "expressway" through the "flat" southern part of Nebraska while US20 takes you through the rolling land and the Nebraska sandhills.....IMHO, of course
