RE: Slip Plate,Pullrite Superglide

x2 on EZ Slide. Its at Tractor Supply stores. Also cheaper than Slip Plate, and the can nozzles don't stop up as bad. I've been using EZ Slide for several years.

RE: loose wire

That wire may indeed be for the breakaway brakes. If so, traveling with it like that defeats one of the trailer's safety measures. I think you should find out for sure.

Cleaning area prior to applying Eternabond

I've read instructions that say to use acetone or lacquer thinner as cleaners on an EPDM roof prior to installing Eternabond tape. I've also read never to use acetone or lacquer thinner for cleaning EPDM. Which is correct?

RE: Jayco Pin Box Question

Pullrite makes a special capture plate for a Mor-Ryde pin box. The capture plate goes on and off easily.

RE: Xantrex 1500 Inverter

I recently installed a 300 watt pure sine wave Go Power. I've got 110 volts from neutral to hot, 110 volts from hot to ground. Is this correct for a Go Power inverter?

How strong a wind to tip over an RV?

My wife and I recently spent some time at Guadalupe Mountains National Park. The weather was nice. Today, with our fifth wheel safely parked at home, the forecast for Guadalupe Mountains State Park is:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Tonight...Mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers and snow showers. Strong winds. Lows 36 to 42. Southwest winds 30 to 50 mph with gusts to around 75 mph.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Assume a wind coming from the side of the trailer. How high a wind does it take to tip over a fifth wheel?

RE: Luan Panel Fasteners

I found these. The size I bought is smaller than in the link; it has a 1" long screw and will work on a panel 1/8" to 1/4" thick. I tried out one on a piece of 1/8" wall paneling, and it held quite well. It requires drilling a 5/16" hole.

RE: Luan Panel Fasteners

It sure seems like an expanding plastic wall anchor that is designed to hold on an 1/8" wall would be ideal... except I don't know where to buy such an anchor. Like this but with the "wings" designed to hold in 1/8" material.

RE: Luan Panel Fasteners

The screw anchors I've seen don't look like they will work well with the 1/8" thick or so luan. Is there one in particular you've seen that will fasten well to material that thin?

Luan Panel Fasteners

The fabric covered part boxes (what are they really called?) around the pleated shades at the windows are attached with a bracket and one screw at each corner. The "boxes" get bumped into and the screw works loose from the luan paneling.
Is there some kind of wall anchor that works better in luan than a plain screw?

Inverter Install

I'm planning to install a Go Power GP-SW300 inverter and want to check my understanding.
I plan to install the inverter near my battery bank using #10 wire, fused with a 40 amp fuse, and wired through my battery disconnect switch. I plan to run 14-2 with ground romex from the inverter to a dedicated outlet near my TV. I'll use a short whip to plug into the inverter, and connect the whip to the romex in a box. I'll install a remote switch for the inverter near the dedicated outlet.
1) Since there is no connection from the AC output from my inverter to anything but the one dedicated outlet, there is no need for any sort of transfer switch. Right?
2) Can each outlet of the GP-SW300 supply the full output of the inverter (obviously not both at the same time). Yes?

RE: LCD TV's: florescent back lit, LED edge lit, LED back lit

Thanks for info.
I really had thought (hoped) there would be a bigger difference between LED and florescent lit. My 32" florescent lit LCD gets quite warm, which I interpreted as waste heat from the florescent tubes. So, I thought, surely LED lit would pull way less power. But no?

Does anyone know of some sort of average power consumption comparison for each of these LCD TV types?

RE: Acutrac II plus step by step instructions

Since we are often in remote areas without reliable cellphone signals, I use this instead to find line of sight: Suunto Tandem Requires neither batteries nor cellphone signal.
You could also use an astrolabe I suppose, but both this ancient nautical device and your $170 compass make little sense for dish aiming.
For less $$$ than you spent for your compass, you could have a great tripod, bubble level, compass, and a crummy signal strength meter.
Astrolabes are way to advanced and techy for me to be able to use. Perhaps there's an android application to emulate using an astrolabe?

RE: Acutrac II plus step by step instructions

With respect to satellite apps on cellphones, as far as I know their purpose is to enable you to find a "hole" allowing a line of sight to the appropriate satellite(s) in an area with many trees and leaves. Keep in mind they will only work if you have a cellphone signal.

RE: Search within this thread

Ctrl F is a neat thing, too; but what I'm looking for is a way to search for keywords within an entire thread - not just on one page.
This thread is 46 pages long; it's a posting of weights of various combinations of vehicles. I'd like to search within that 46 page long thread for keywords that might turn up my combination of vehicles without having to read 46 individual pages.
