RE: LP GENERATORS

We've had our Onan Marquis Gold 6500W propane generator for 8 years with no problems at all even operating in temps to zero degrees F. To date it has just over 400 hours on it. It's inefficient which was no surprise. I wish it were diesel powered but aside from that it's been a great generator. I alway's have both of our 30lb propane tank valves open so that when one tank runs dry the other tank will automatically continue the propane supply. I've never run our generator with one of our propane tank valves shut off so I don'tknow if that would be an issue. I'm not sure you really have a problem. Call Onan and see what they have to say. Good luck. Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)

RE: dealer run around

I don't have the truck you're considering. I've never towed with a 1/2 ton truck. Does GM publish in their manufacturer's published towing guide that the truck is rated for towing 10,000lbs? That's about the weight you'll be looking at when the TT is loaded & wet. That brings up another question as to whether towing a 10,000lb TT plus the loaded & fueled weight of the truck combined will exceed the truck's combined GCWR and it's GVWR when hitched? FWIW: My personal guideline for towing is I want my truck's tow rating to exceed the total weight I'm towing by 20% and to be at or within the trucks GCWR. I'm just sayin!!! Good luck. Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)

RE: MSRP

How do you know what the msrp really is. I looked at a Alpine front living room on several different dealers sites and their msrp was from 73,000 to 90,000 for the same package. How do you know what the price really is? You don't from a dealer. When you're ready to buy, obtain a manufacturer's build order sheet directly from the manufacturer. Check off the options you want, add the base msrp, deduct 40%, that's your offer to the dealer to order the exact unit you want. Let some other sucker pay dealers retail msrp. Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)

RE: MSRP

How do you know what the msrp really is. I looked at a Alpine front living room on several different dealers sites and their msrp was from 73,000 to 90,000 for the same package. How do you know what the price really is? When you're ready to order you new camper, obtain a manufacturer's build sheet directly from the manufacturer for the model you intend to order. Call the manufacturer and they will fax or mail you a manufacturers build order sheet. The manufacturers build sheet will list the actual manufacturer's msrp for the unit along with the msrp of each individual option ordered. Check off each option you want, add the base msrp, total it, deduct 40% and that's the offer you make the dealer. If one dealer who sells the unit you want to purchase doesn't take your offer, eventually someone else will. Never use a dealer's made up build sheet. No one does that unless you're just dying to pay more for something than it's worth. Obtain your build sheet directly from your manufacturer, find a dealer willing to take your order, place a $500 deposit (not a penny more) on a credit card and have the dealer order that sucker. Then wait for delivery day.:B Happy camping!!! See y'alldown the road!!!:)

RE: Camping Too Much Trouble?.......How Sad

Our 5'er stay's plugged in, packed, & ready along with our truck 15' out our back kitchen patio door. No trouble here!!! Throw in some groceries, hitch up, harness the doggies into their booster seats in the truck's back seat, and we're on the road. We don't travel without our 5'er. Your friends may need to find a new hobby. Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)

RE: GA - Told to vacate RV park because of dog

Manager was very overly friendly. We discussed my dog even though he is a little bigger than the "30-35lbs" they allow. In her defense she did warn me about the hawkish owner on several occasions and warned me specifally about leashing him even though I am sitting 10 feet away with door and windows open. All that and yet now you're surprised at being evicted?:R:R:R How big of a 2X4 stick of wood does it take?:R Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)

RE: GA - Told to vacate RV park because of dog

There's alway's 3 sides to every story; your side, their side, & the truth. Based on your description of what happened, I'd agree with the CG owner. I think he's giving you a break by giving you two days to vacate! He could have thrown you out ASAP!!! As for a refund on your prepaid rent? If you want your money back, hire a lawyer. You tied your dog up outside and left it unattended. IMHO: Unless the CG rules specifically state that "attended" includes the pet owner going back inside the camper & leaving the door open while the dog is tied up outside by itself, I'd say you need to start packing. Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)

RE: WILL COST OF FUEL DESTROY MOTOR HOME TRAVEL

At what price will you stop? Price isn't our concern. We'll stop when we simply can't buy diesel fuel any more. When it's all gone and the pumps run dry, we'll stay home. Until then if it's available, we're traveling!!! Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)

RE: I wonder Why

folks buy a small class C or class A motor home (I would say something under 30 feet) and then tow a vehicle behind it? I would think that this defeats the purpose of owning a smaller motor home. If you're going to drive from point A to point B you are not using the towed vehicle. Once you get to point B and are staying a couple of days, either in an RV park or at a place like Walmart, why would you need another vehicle? Getting around sightseeing is a lot more comfortable in a motor home than driving around in a car, is it not? Also, on the open road, I'm quite sure that towing a vehicle brings your gas mileage way down. Now, I can see possibly towing a car with a large Class A (over 30 feet)(do they even make a Class C over 30 feet?). However, with a Class C or Class A, under 30 feet, driving in cities should be no more difficult than driving for UPS. Those drivers don't seem to have any problems. You ever tried it??? No? Nuff said!!! Happy camping!!! See y'alll down the road!!!:)

RE: Help choose new truck

I'd call "SUNCOAST" and look at dropping a new auto tranny in that sucker and keep right on drivin'er if it's economically feasable. Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)

RE: New Regulations Affecting RV Travel?

I haven't heard or read a thing going into effect recently that will affect RV'ers. DOT implemented a few things Jan 3rd that will affect interstate commercial carriers and drivers operating with Class A CDL's. If somethings gone into law regarding RV's I need to know about, I sure haven't read anything from DOT about it. Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)

RE: rv show big mistake :)

We saw the same 5'er. Ya got good taste. We want an Elite Suites but we'd have to buy a bigger truck to tow it. Just don't have that kind of money this close to retirement. Like you, I keep buying those lottery tickets. Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)

RE: Ordering FW from Dealer????

We don't do quotes from dealers. We just don't have the patience for that. We take the time to physically look at whatever RV it is we wish to order even if it takes us out of state. We decide for sure what we want then obtain a buyers build sheet from the manufacturer. We build the RV on paper including all options, deduct 35% from the MSRP including all options, then send out offers to dealers to sell us the RV at our offering price. Whoever bites first gets our business. If it's a dealer that's out of state long disance that accepts our offer, we simply fax them the build sheet, give them a $500 credit card deposit over the phone to order the RV, and wait for it tobe delivered. No haggling or BS. The dealer has two options with our offer: Take it or leave it. It's always worked for us. Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)Take 35% of the MSRP that's a joke....LOL What MSRP the dealers made up MSRP never ever use the MSRP on an RV like you would on an automobile.. Im sure you know actually hope you know that you can have 100 dealers price up the exact same coach equipped the exact same way and get 97 different MSRP,s don't base anything on there BS MSRP.. What always worked for me was gold old fashioned Hi Low negotiating...Take 60% off whats quoted with your counter and watch the reaction and go from there.. And don't ever be worried about insulting a dealer by offering a ridiculously low counter offer his expressions will let you know where you are @ with your offer...... Example @ the 2010 Hershey show I negotiated to buy the Big Horn 3800BH for out the door to me for $37K and they were advertising a list of like 72K show special like 48K and the last minute I decided to keep my fiver and buy it next year @ the 2011 show.. Well in that year that I wanted to wait Big Horn Discontinued that model and we loved it... So I decide to try and find used ones and I did 09, 10, and people were wanting more used then I could have bought it for new and when I told them what I could have bought it for new the all thought I was the biggest BSer on the planet but it wasn't a word of lie.. So always go to the basement and come up from there ... Good Luck Nobody with any brains uses a dealer's made up MSRP sheet!!!:R READ MY POST... IT WOULD HAVE SAVED YOU ALOT OF WRITING.:S As I stated, I use the MANUFACTURER'S MSRP BUILD SHEET THAT I OBTAIN DIRECTLY FROM THE MANUFACTURER WHEN MAKING MY OFFER!!! I don't have the patience or time to waste a dealer's time offering some ridiculous 60% off the actual manufacturer's MSRP. Nobody's going to take such a ridiculous offer on a new RV. 35% off the manufacturer's MSRP is realistic. The dealer who takes my offer makes a few bucks, I save a few bucks, and it's a one phone call sale. Using your back & forth negotiation tactic with a ridiculous price guess, you can close a deal and still not know if you paid too much. Your way I come away thinking I got a good deal while the dealer's laughing his a$$ off at me. Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)
