RE: Use cedar creek as year round temp housing

We had some friends that wintered in Kansas City a few years ago. What a mess, heating was the easy part, plan on large amounts of propane. You will need to get a water line with heat tape. You will have to heat your waste line also. To help with things you may want to think about putting some type of skirting around the unit.

RE: CONNECTING SATELLITE DISH

You may not have an outlet on the side of the unit do to the king dome. Two things come to mind, if you have a connection for cable use that one. I do not know if the coax will be the same size, but its worth a try. Two see if you can get the connection off the king dome and run coax down the side of your unit. Or like others have side go through a window or even through the side of your slide out.

RE: Dometic Rooftop AC!!!!!

You may want to take the cover off of the breaker pannel, to check for loose wires. A screw holding the wires may have come loose and you are not getting a good connection. Yes the breaker could be weak also, for the cost of a breaker might as well change out.

Take the old one off and take with you when you go to purchase a new one. A few different styles and hinge types.

RE: PDI Expectations for Fifth Wheel

YES, or hand deleiver one before the PDI. That way you know they have it. When I did my PDI I made sure that the service person who was going to give me the PDI had a copy and that I was going to follow it no matter how long it took (6hrs).
You may also want to take a flash light, you did not say if you had camped before so if not I would try and take a video cammera and tape everything you think is important to remember. A small circit tester to check the outlets make sure the GFI outlets work also.
Good Luck Welcome

RE: Cedar Creek 34rlsa owners

I do not have a cedar creek, but her sister a cardinal. Those are some great units. I do not think you will be unhappy with your selection.

RE: Mouse/Mice proofing

I am a large fan of the moth ball method. Like most stuff I do over kill the use of them. I take plastic drink cups, cut them down to about 2in, put a few holes in the side of the cup for air movement. Then add the moth balls.
I put those everywere in the camper. Yes there is a moth ball oder come spring but no mice. It does take some time to get the oder out but I feel its worth the no mice.

RE: Battery indicator says LOW

I would check the water level in the battery. Then check the converter to make sure its working. I only have one battery and do not boondock so I am always plugged in. The battery now is going on 6 years. I beleive that taking care of the battery it will last for some time.

RE: 5th Wheel Tripod Stabalizers?

All that everybody has said so far is correct. I have the steel tripod by b&l, yes they are heavy and a pain to carry. With that said I would not be without it. The reason my 5er has a 6' span between the landing leg and the front of the cap. I beleive the tripod adds more stability to that part of the unit. Yes it may help with the stabalizing of the whole unit. I do not have the strongarms or jts, I have read alot that they will help with the movement. Remember a good set of wheels chocks will really help the front to back movement.

RE: Newby to 5th wheel

Get a larger truck! you will not be happy with the combination you will have. Getting a 4:10 rear end would be nice,I think you will find the 3:92 will always be searching for the correct gear. I would truely rethink your truck.

RE: Cable tv

Yes as others have said bring your own. What has not been said is when using cable make sure the antenna "power boost" is OFF. Its located on the interior wall plate where you hook the tv coax to.

RE: What pin box should I consider

I will have to add my 2 cents worth, and add the 5th Airborne to the mix. I have not used any other pin boxes so can not compare products. I can tell you the 5thAB takes most of the chucking and porposing out of the ride. You want to make sure to get a pin box that takes care of both movements.

RE: A "C" to a "5" ?

You have two major investments to make, both will take some research to get the best one. I would start with the truck long before the camper. My reason for that is, take a look at your driving habits, will this be the main form of transportation or not. The reason I say that is a 1 ton drw is really not parking lot friendly. What kind a traveling will you be doing and the list for the truck goes on and on.
Yes a 3/4 will handle most 5ers, but that depends on how you drive and where. Any rv salesman will answer the question will my truck pull this with a big yes. Once you have a truck you are comfortabel with then start the fun of rv shopping.

RE: slide control

I would truely be guessing, but I beleive only one switch for the slides. In my Cardinal first the bedroom then curb side then road side slide go in or out. That is for a hydraulic system if yours is electric it maybe different.

Storing Coax Cable

My family got me a free standing tripod satilite dish along with 100' of coax. I throught trying to deal with 50amp power cord was tought.
Anyway I ended up with a small plastic bucket and coiled the cord into the bucket. I was wondering what other methods people have for the storage of coax, as I do not think this bucket will work may need a larger bucket.

RE: Tire air pressure pump?

I have a sears 110v that travels with me. I also have the g614 and have no problem with this compressor. The compressor is not the pancake style is rated for 125 psi. I will have to say to get to 110psi you have to keep the compressor running.
