RE: Formula for figuring out cargo capacity

Newer trailers have a yellow sticker that tells what the trailer weighs as delivered to dealer including the weight of full propane tanks. This will differ from the advertised dry weight, it will likely be more, mine was about 250 lbs more. Water weighs about 8.3 lbs per gallon so that can add up fast. The weight of the battery and WD hitch components on the trailer also are a factor. If you are in doubt put your stuff in the trailer and a visit to a CAT scale would be helpful in determining your actual loaded for travel weight. OK, on edit it looks like the other posters got it covered already!

RE: Electric items...

Lots of folks become believers in electric tongue jacks very soon after installing one. I know I did, especially when jacking up to engage/disengage the WD bars in which case you are also jacking up your tow vehicle. My awning and stabilizers are manual, so I can`t comment on the power version of those.

RE: Boy Scout Campout...WOW!!!

Great story! As a long time Scout leader with 3 sons currently in Scouting I can say from very early on they are taught the concept of "Leave no trace" camping. Good to see that was the case in this story and it was a positive experience for all. We recently camped at Valley Forge NP and there were 4000+ Scouts, leaders and parents there for the 100th anniversary of the event. Scouting is alive and well!

RE: backing up, gonna lose my man card here....

So as it turns out, my wife is a natural at backing up our 28 foot travel trailer, she can spot it dead on in two tries at most, Lucky devil!

RE: Forecast is non-stop RAIN! What should I do?

I baptized mine in a hard wind driven rain the day after we picked it up from the dealer. Drove over 400 miles from a nearby CG, It was a full blown Nor`Easter so I gave the trailer and hitch system a good test! No leaks, no sway. I too say go for it! Take her out. Rain or shine.

RE: wash and wax your trailer

his main concern was the high pressure might take off some of the decals and get by the seals around the windows and slide outs. we did not really discuss the metal sided TT's I was mainly asking him about glass sided TT's. Gas powered pressure washers that I use will take off decals, boat numbers, caulking, and many other things. All the stream needs is to find one small loose opening and it will lift off the caulk or decal and will also put water where you may not want it. Never tried it on a RV, but use them on boats all the time. They also come with amputation warnings(yikes!) I think he gave you good advice on the pressure washer. So far I have washed (with the long RV brush others mentioned) and waxed my TT each Spring.

RE: DAYS UNTIL SPRING!!!!!! YAY!!!!

We went camping 2 weeks ago and broke the cabin fever/mid winter blues, weather was great. Starting to think about some reservations now.

RE: Bearing Buddies

I have used Bearing Buddies for over 30 years on boat trailers in a hostile salt water environment with great success and believe they are the greatest invention since the wheel itself for that use. I give them a few pumps from the gun regularly and have had zero bearing issues (my boat trailers have no brakes). My TT has the Dexter EZlube system and I agree with Exrocketscientist, if they are used in accordance with Dexter`s instructions, they are a good system and you can keep the grease off the brakes. Regular inspections of the brakes and bearings are a good idea though, no matter what system you have.

RE: what to do for the mid-winter wanna go campin but cant blues

We beat the Winter blues by camping this past weekend in MD. Weather was perfect, in the 60`s. Yeah I de-winterized and will re-winterize, but that`s no big deal. Go whenever ya can.............

RE: Thetford toilet leaking water between toilet and base

You might consider viewing this thread on Thetford water valve module leaks. The leak occurs only when the pedal is depressed. A new valve is a relatively easy fix http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/24038748/srt/pa/pging/1/page/1.cfm

RE: Vent Fan

This thread may give you an idea, its about the Voretx Fan. It can be installed from inside of the trailer without messing with the part on the roof. I installed one on mine in no time at all and am satisfied with it. http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/23245348/srt/pa/pging/1/page/1
