RE: Lance 1575 owners - how are you organizing your spaces?

There is a closet next to the refer you can put some shelves or plastic bins for clothes, the dinette has under seat storage and you have access to the underbid also. there is a lot of storage available under the bed, dinette and the kitchen. the bath has a medicine cabinet for your toiletries. there are 3 shelves under the countertop and the over heads have a shelf. I doubt you will run out of room

RE: Lance 1575 WD hitch

As an owner of a Lance 1575 pulling with a Jeep Liberty, you do not need sway nor weight distribution. If my Jeep can tow without any issues you will do fine. W/D hitches are for situations that necessitate shifting weight forward on the tow vehicle, the Lance's weight and tongue weight is such where you will not know it is back there, except when refueling. Tow it for awhile before making any decisions, that is what I did.

RE: Lance 1575 WD hitch

I have a Lance 1575 and it is doubtful you would need a w/d set up. with less than 400# tongue weight there is little need for one. These trailers weigh less than 3000# and are meant to be towed by smaller vehicles. In addition I do not think Lance recommends one for the 1575 because it has the newer light weight frame.

RE: Reese 350 Mini Lite WDH?

TRy pulling without one and then make you decision, sway control is prevalent in smaller lighter trailers. I had a Frontier and never used a weight hitch. The 400# on your rear should not drop it noticeably.

RE: Smallest Lance TT ever -- the 1274 -- pros and cons . . .

I believe the 1274 comes in 2 versions and the pop out bunk is an option. My 1575 has 6 full sized windows in a 16' foot trailer, real nice.

RE: '71 Starcraft Wanderstar- "The Hilton"

I have one question in re: this renovation. Are you concerned with weight at all? Seems like some of your 2x4 could have been 2x3 if weight were a concern.

RE: which brand of TT offers the biggest windows?

I have 6 windows on all 4 sides, all insulated, all awning style, all with integrated blinds and screen, 2 fantastic vents all in a 16' trailer. Hard to match that amount....

RE: New small tt-Lance 1575

The 4 season heated waste tanks is an option on the other Lances as is the insulated glass windows. But, the 1575 comes standard with a heated fresh water tank and insulated acrylic windows and a tankless water heater that does not need to be winterized. Not sure what else you would need to make it more easy to use in the winter. You can order 12v heat pads from the factory for the waste tanks if you want that.
Otherwise I feel it is more of a 4 season trailer than an airstream or other top end rv due to the insulation and the thermopane windows that do not sweat and the heated fresh water tank. As long as you have heat you have water. I bought a heated fresh water hose and went camping when it was down to 8 degrees, no problem.

RE: cruise control

No cruise and no overdrive when towing- read your manual for your vehicle.

RE: Could use help deciding on small TT

I just got a new Lance 1575, sold my Egg Camper last year, a bit too small. But the Lance has a slide out, tankless water heater with unlimited hot water, heated water tank for winter use and thermopane windows all for less than 2700#.
Lance also has a smaller one available, the 1274- here is their web site
http://www.lancecamper.com/
The Lance also comes with the Polar Cub 9000 btu a/c which a 2000 watt generator will run.
The CoolCat heat pump needs a 3000 watt generate, I had a T@b with the CoolCat- very loud and cold in such a small space, way overkill you have it run for 5 minutes then off then on then off.
Anyway you have a lot too look at, go with your heart.

RE: Motorcycle in pickup, tow TT...special hitch?

I think he needs the tailgate for the bike, mine was 96" long and I needed the tailgate. I do not think he can tow with the tailgate down and have the clearance unless he removes his tongue jack. Any hitch extension will reduce his capacity.

RE: Towing 4400lb trailer

If you are in tow/haul mode just leave it alone. It has turned off the overdrive so you will be revving a little higher in final gear to keep the trans cool. On flat highways you may be able to turn off the tow/haul but as soon as it starts to downshift turn it back on.

RE: Towing 4400lb trailer

I have the same truck with the same wheels. You will do fine but remember that the capacity of the truck is about 1400 lbs which will include the tongue weight. Your truck has the springs which is a plus, mine, a 2009 has the coils which I installed air bags. Tow out of overdrive and with the trans cooler you will be fine. I get 13 mpg towing or not.
I also installed an airRaid cold air intake, gave me another 5% oooommph.

RE: Would you......

All good suggestions, everyone. I'm leaning toward giving my daughter some of the money now, enjoy my new Lance and then in a couple of years ordering the Airstream with what I want. It may cost me a lot more, but I'll be happy, my daughter will certainly be happy and hopefully I'll have plenty of time living my dream.
I have saved my entire life for tomorrow, tomorrow is here now.

I always thought Airstreams were better on mpg than box like stickies. Thanks everyone for their opinions, I think I may drive up to colonial this weekend.

Would you......

Here's the issue, I'm not getting any younger and gas keeps going up. I have a brand new Lance 1575 2012 model which is ideal. But, I have always dreamed of owing an Airstream and Colonial airstream has a used 2007 Safari 20' model which is the one I've dreamed about.
They want $30K for it and said they would give me $15k for mine, so it would cost me another 15 k to have my dream trailer. I paid $22k for the Lance 6 months ago.
Should I go for it or say no and keep on camping with the Lance? What would you do? I have the money in the bank and it certainly is not earning interest. I do not know what to do, please help me decide, thanks.
