RE: small four-season trailer?

I would think a small Nash (Northwood mfg) would work.

RE: TT you'd love to have if you could.... :)

Since you asked about the "TRAVEL TRAILER you'd like"... You guys aren't setting your sights high enough! Peterson makes these...rated for -10 Degrees. In business since 1966..in Kansas, same family. http://www.excelrvs.com/assets/images/views-exterior/winslow-tt.jpg height=200 width=200 EXCEL WINSLOW! The RV Industries ONLY basement model Travel Trailer! With 120 cu ft of underfloor storge. http://www.larrysrvsales.com/am2/listings/images/29_21.jpg height=200 width=200 http://www.rvsalesnm.com/2011/images/131984305635965.jpg height=200 width=200 http://rvingplanet.interactrv.netdna-cdn.com/model-image/39030/375x0/ height=170 width=170 $81,818.00 (WHEW!) Out of the 6000 RV's they've made....guess how many ever had delmantion issues? Zero! If I were not getting the Excel...then definitely a Jayco Eagle! Closer to my price range! :)This would be my second choice with a custom built New Horizon as first. In fact they had already built the floor plan I wanted for another customer, it was a little heavy at 13,800# for a 32' TT. The price 120K.

RE: What does "Dealer Stock Only" mean?

Well, this isn't really under a specific dealer, that's what confuses me I guess. I'm just checking out Jayco models/floorplans and several say Dealer Stock Only. I assume it just means "Hey, if you like this model and you find it somewhere, get it because we aren't making anymore." Would that be correct thinking?Correct

RE: Generator Running funny

A lot of people think they are (saving) their generators by not running them. They are doing more harm then good. You need to exercise them to keep them running smooth.

RE: Center Point eliminate empty fridge?

We've had Center Point for five years...works wonders! We removed our shocks to allow space for larger hubs with larger brakes...have very little movement...even leave stuff on counter. We do, however, have a center kitchen not a rear...Center point was designed to work with shocks to control the ride. According to Dale Center point inventor. I have Centerpoint on my 5er and TT.

RE: Shopping failures...

I went to Walmart to get a caulking gun. They must not be a high volume item because they did not carry them.

RE: Best built Toyhauler

What price range? My top pick would be New Horizon followed by Space craft mfg third Excel that would be 150k to 100k.

RE: I saw one today! I couldn't believe it!

4.3 was a good motor, 2.8 was a miserable dog.The 2.8 in my opinion was the worst motor chevy ever made. If it went 50k miles you were very lucky. The 4.3 was/is a good motor. I still drive my 97 Blazer 4.3 176k.

RE: Slow market or what?

I am on Craigslist, the unit is paid for,I have it in RV Trader on line, and TTs are easier to sell because of the prices are lower than a 5th wheels. Not only is the price lower, there are more options to tow a TT then a 5er. Most people do not have a 3/4 or 1 ton to pull with. I'm sure dealer financing is a big help as well.

RE: Well, we're back to camping again

Enjoy the Jayco 165. Two nights in a motel would be about the same as a TT payment and you won't have to worry if they will accept Andy.

RE: Bought my boondocking TT

Hi, Congratulations on the new RV! If the electrical use won't include an air conditioner consider a solar system instead--and fill up the generator compartment with batteries. Costs for the Solar part of the system if you DIY are about $2.00 per watt.I have to have my A/C. On most trips it will not be used but if it gets warm I'll have it. I will use two 6 volt batteries and might add a solar panel. I have gone a week on just two 6 volt batteries.

RE: Bought my boondocking TT

62 gallons? Those must be thirsty collies! If you tow it dry, it'll weigh 500 pounds less, if my math is right (which it rarely is). Congratulations! Where are you going on your first trip??The first camp out will be at the dealer. I have to drive 9 hours to pick it up. They will have it set up for me to use. I bought this for a trip to Alaska. I'm towing with a 3/4 ton Diesel so the weight will be more of that cheep fuel.

Bought my boondocking TT

After looking for a while I finally bought a small (relatively speaking) TT. I wanted a small TT with a built in generator and large tanks. I wound up with a used small 2008 Cherokee 17DFWP TH. It has 62 gal of fresh water, Has floor space for three large Collies, Is generator ready with a built in fuel tank. While the trailer is 17' overall length is 22'. High ground clearance. 15" tires with over 2k# payload. Now the bad. It's heavy at 4880#, and they call it a lite. Has almost no storage. A little tall and is stick and tin construction. They stopped making this model so I had to buy used. It's clean and well cared for so I did not mind. I liked the small Wildwood 18srvt but no place for a generator. It was less tall and only weighed 3200#.

RE: TT stolen

...but in the future I will likely route some big old chains and locks through the wheels. It won't stop the most enthusiastic thief but it will slow him down some. Just use a chain with a lock that's to big for the average bolt cutters to cut. I put the lock on the inside of the chain so if they think about picking it they'll have to crawl underneath the trailer to do it. Good luck to you. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h40/GShipe/6-06-2010005-1.jpgBolt cutters would cut through the chain very easily. Anything that slows a thief down has my vote. To bad it's not like the old days when they used a tree and a rope for justice.
