RE: 5th wheel manual crank

Some cordless drills are multi speed, my makitas are pretty powerful in low speed. As far as the cheepies, forget it, they may raise the gear..

RE: Air Bags Installation Review/ and looking for opinions on WD

Adding weight will compress the tires, which will increase their pressure. If you have a floor jack, check the pressure on a front tire, then jack it off the ground, and recheck. Without the load the pressure will drop.

RE: ?'s on storing toy hauler near the ocean

The best advise I can give you is don't. Steel beds don't last long at the coast, I assume the frame and wooden parts will age FAR faster then you want.

RE: Extending trailer tongue

There is ALOT of stress on the tongue from the WD plus the actual weight of the trailer. I would remove and replace the A frame VS just extend it.

RE: Shore power automatic switch to inverter.

Why not just use a 120 volt (coil) relay? the 12 volt auto relays are not rated to switch 120 volts..

RE: "CFL versus LED" An Interesting Link

CFL's make great floodlights, for a spotlight you can't beat LED's. I prefer led's for dimmers - the cfl's seem to go from 100-40%, leds go from 100-5%.

RE: BU programs for O/S restore/repair

I forget the name of the program I have at work. BUT, I got a 1TB usb drive, and made a boot cd (or the imaging program did), I boot off the cd, and backup or restore the disk. I have it to back up all partitions on the primaty disk, and a second backup if there is more then one disk. Purpose was to make recovering from a failed disk faster. I could spend 2 hours locating install media, doing windows, office, quickbooks, filemaker, etc. Then attempting to tell the user that all data on the local disk is gone. Far easier to swap the failed disk, start the reimage, then attempt to recover data off the old disk on another workstation. 15 to 45 minutes and I can reattach teh computer to the domain, and be back in business. All data is to be stored on the server, (which backups to a local and offsite server).

RE: can 30 amps run 2 13500 ACs

You have to trip the brakers for EVERYTHING else to start the second one. The converter may be pulling enough power to cause the surge of the second compressor to trip the braker. I would give the first one 3 to 5 seconds headstart then hit the second one. This will allow it to be at full speed, and not have high pressure (max load on the compressor).
Set the temp LOWER then you want, and shut one down when it cools off, cycling may put you over the edge.

RE: running air conditioner while towing

Pulling a mountain, if there are "turn off AC" signs, they mean it!! Other then that if you have problems overheating with the AC on, you should drop your TV off to be checked.

RE: GVWR for Voltage 3905

Uneven loading on the axles, tires rated for less then 3500 lbs each. Rv builder knowing people overload their trailers, and overbuilding it slightly so it survives the warranty period.

RE: Solar or Generator?

I would start with a Generator. They work in the shade.
First go byt a KILL-A-WATT meter, then camping in your driveway - without being plugged in, and use the trailer as you would when camping. Lights, tv (on an inverter), water pump (take showers), run the fridge, if you plan on camping in the cooler months, you HAVE to upgrade your batteries, the heater will kill a single battery overnight by itself.
In the morning, plug your rv into the kill-a-watt and that into the wall outlet. Look at how much power the converter (battery charger) is pulling to recharge the batteries. Your generator MUST be able to provide MORE then this amount of current. I would aim for 30-50% more then what the driveway test shows.
You may need a 1k generator (hondas are around $800), 2k generators (hondas are around $1100, yamahas are around $1k). (camping world prices)
Get the QUIET generator, or you will make friends of anyone within a 1/10 mile of you.

RE: on line stock trading companies???

At scottrade, if you do market orders (whatever the current price is), it is $7 each way, no matter how many shares you do. Stocks less then $3 are weird, and limit orders cost more, usually there is a cost for each place they buy or sell shares to. My limit orders run from $7 to $23. Most are in the $10-$12 range.

$500
Limit orders tend to run a little higher then $7.
I opened my account, funded it with a transfer (vs check), and bought stock that morning.

RE: conspicuity tape

In the dark a 30' trailer is hard to see at 100 yards, the tape stands out at 1/4 mile. I have it on my rear bumper, and on the front and rear bottom of my slides.
