RE: Leaf Spring Bracket sheared off- pictures

I think that wear is from the broken shackle. I just replaced that tire. The other tire (on the same axle is fine).
That is exactly how the axle was on our 5vr. One side was fine and the other was bent and wore the tire through to the steel belt on the inside edge. Keep an eye on the tire wear because I kind of think that you have a bent axle. I know it's something that you don't want to hear but it's a distinct possibility.
The good news is that any shop that does truck wheel alignment can realign the axles for you in 1 hour for about $100 as good or better than new.

RE: Alfa AWUS036H need assistance

Been using mine 4 years. If you are trying to use an U S B extension cord, it should be active (amplified) type.
Proper drivers are a must.

RE: This Makes No Sense to Me

That I understand.. The advice I give is to always test with meter first.
Then test again
Then when you are all done test yet again
That really is how I do it.
I also have (Somewhere in a tool box around here) a special 12 volt plug, It has a 2-lead "Tri-color" LED and resistor in it.
If you plug it in and it lights up GREEN.. you are good, you have it wired properly.
If it lights up RED. you goofed.
and if it lights up YELLOW.. You got bigger problems (That is an AC outlet)
Works great.. I built it back in the days when cars 12 volt outlets might or might not be wired properly. Simple circuit.
Could you post a wiring diagram of your tester, I would like to build one? Or PM me with it.
Thanks
Gene

RE: Cost to service an Allison 3000 tranny withTransynd

I am at 40,000 miles on my Allison 3000 transmission and according to the postings here I should change the fluid & flters. I have a local Allison dealer here and he quotes $350 for the service with the Transynd and filters & labor. For those of you who have the same Allison 3000 does this seem a reasonable price?
Go to the Transdyn Site. The last time I read it you are good for 100K miles. I have 75K on mine. The filter is due for a change.

RE: Replace DRL bulb in 2006 GMC 2500HD?

you might even have to replace the socket. They get so hot they melt the socket & you cant get the burned out bulb out. There is nothing to hold them in.

RE: Trailer unlevel after set-up. I want to correct it properly.

I think the slides will be a non-issue.
As for re-leveling, you're either going to need to hitch up and re-set, or spend a lot of time with one or more hydraulic jacks. IMO easier to just hitch up and do it right.

RE: Suburban Furnace, how do you get it apart?

Working on propane furnaces if you don"t know what you are doing is called " Russian roulette". Call a trained tech or get a friend who has some knowledge of gas appliances before you blow yourself up.I lost a friend this way.

RE: Bent axle tube

For those of you who have bent an axle tube on a trailer, how did it happen?
Undersized axles of inferior quality (Lippert) = 2 bent axles.
Partialy agree. I have 2 Lippert axles that bent. Don't know why. But they are not undersized in my case. Each one has a 4400# rating. x2 =8800#. My TT weighs 72-7300# loaded. The place where I took them to get straightend mentioned that they were made with soft material. So ya the quality is inferior, but they are rated okay.
Remember, those axle rating tags are an honor rating system, nobody is checking, no weight police.

RE: 02 HR Presidential wheels

Does anyone know where I can get an original Chrome Wheel for an 02 Presidential, 16" 6lug?. I called Monico and they said they were no longer available. Oh, and I don't want one that leaks, and I don't know how they are replacing them unless they are different wheels.
Ron
Ron, I dont know your exact problem, but they can be welded with stainless steel rod to fix many kinds of leaks. A 15 minute job for a pro. I have fixed several.

Does everyone realize that the axle weight rating system is running on an honor system & no one is checking to see if they are all honest.

RE: Thermostat and/or furnace problems

I'm thinking about installing a digital soon. So for you guys that have done it, is it easy to install or will I need some type of adaptor since the camper side is harnessed? Also, how will I then be able to control my fax speed. Most units only have settings for A/C or Heat......and fan ON or OFF. I may need to search this site for installation tips. Haven't done that yet.
Fan speed. wire high and low to the fan on terminal. Add a additional mini switch to the hi speed circuit. When switch is closed, fan is hi. switch open fan is low because hi circuit is disabled. I just wired mine hi all the time.
Where do you get this "mini switch" you're talking about?

Walt's RV Salvage and Surplus. I think they're in Rialto, CA. Google for phone. There are guests in my offrice/spare bedroom or I would go get their card.
They have hundreds of new surplus in stock.

RE: Wi-Fi Signal Amplifier How Good Are They?

If you are going to use a "long" USB extension, be sure & get the active model. It has built in amplifier & You are still limited to 16'. Any longer & you lose signal.
The Alfa works great, I have used the AWUS036H for about 4 years now.
I tried a couple of other brands but the Alfa was best.
