RE: 65dBa vs 55dBa Generators

Personally if you have the money then do it. Even a honda 2000 will bother neighbors.
HEre is my experience. My generac 8500 safe for electronics is around 71db but I tell you what it is loud compared to my pair of honda 2000s. Middle of the nite either generator is too loud for a park

RE: Travel trailer loan rates

Vehicle loan rate. 3.9% at 5 yrs and new unit.
Used units have higher rates

RE: sway bars off when backing up?

Depends, I normally don't. It does make a lot of noise. I usually take off once I am situated.
It is easier without them when you are in a tight situation.

RE: Trailer Value for divorce

sell it for the 13k ,and be done with it. good luck in your future .
If this is a divorce with lawyers involved, then I would not be hasty to sell the trailer. Your wife's lawyer could argue that you sold it below market value and that you owe her the difference. It could then be also argued to a judge that you are hastily destroying the market value of the estate in a effort to 'hurt' the wife. Selling it for what it can be sold for does not establish market value. After all, you could sell it for $1. That does not mean that it's only worth $1. I would not sell it or deal with it until both lawyers had negotiated the fair exchange price of the asset.
Some might accuse me of wild imagination, but it would not be the first time that a husband or wife in a divorce destroyed assets that could have been co-mutually beneficial to both parties.
This was reason my attorney advised against selling it

RE: Trailer Value for divorce

Thanks for all the response guys.
I really do not want the trailer b/c I do not see using it too often after the divorce. Since kids in school last 2 yrs we have used it about 3 times a year.
I have to pay for storage then also since she wants the 10 acre lot it is stored and I am giving that up. There is 75k equity according to appraiser for the 10 acres, which means I think she will have to make up that 75k difference with debt.
I think I will just tell them fire sale and whatever it sells for we will split.

RE: Trailer Value for divorce

two last pieces of advice
1.) never let the other side know you really want to keep something ('the gun collection? don't need it / don't really want it...just something to look at')...they know you want something, they've got you over a barrel
2.) try to look at the big picture and keep to the high road...did a divorce not too long ago in which...seriously...after we dealt with the house and the furniture and the kids, it devolved to who gets what television...before we were done, the wife even wanted to deal with whether the dvd player goes WITH the television...something replaceable at walmart for 75 bucks or less
TOO FUNNY

Trailer Value for divorce

I am in the beginning stages for a divorce. I want the divorce but also trying to facilitate it along to make it faster.
I paid for my 2009 Jayco 324BHDS august of 2008 $24,500 and then another $1593 for sales tax to Florida totaling $26,093.Bike rack upgrade, satellite upgrade and I believe bath enclosure upgrade.
It is almost 4 yrs later. I put it in craigslist for $13,500 firm and got many people willing to buy.
Wife is claiming it should be worth $20,000 which is price dealers are asking for it to start. I went to NADA today, typed in extra option having 15k btu and average retail is around $22,000.
Any suggestions as to where go find more correct values? I feel it is around 13-14k in value.

RE: Rear vision cam for hitch

If it is that bad then spend the 1k price for a good camera. I recently installed a double din gps/dvd unit where factory stereo was. The camera is super clear. Make sure you buy a decent camera and not wireless
Previously I had the vr3 and that was hit or miss with the picture. Then after a year the camera got moisture in it so I would pray every time I used it hoping it was not fogged up. The wireless units are affected by radio and cell phone signals as well. Shut them off when using wireless.

RE: ? about 6.4L F250

Here is my advise being that I own a 2008 6.4 and had the same problem as you have currently.
The smoking stuff started after the last PCM update that was a recalled item by ford around spring of last year. My truck started doing the same thing.
The problem you have is convincing the dealer's tech to give you time of day to diagnose your problem vs NORMAL and send you back home.
You have two options: either tune and delete the dpf/cat or call corporate and complain. I do not mean the 800 number on the back of the manual but corporate office.
Hop over to dieselstop.com and look under some posts the last few months about "smoke". I posted a contact at the office of vice president of sales and service. That got a response from the local dealer about 3-4 weeks later that an actual ford field engineer wanted to take a look at my truck. One person has posted that it's the cat converter going bad.
There is something wrong with your truck. Will it perform bad?? Only when it is in regen an smoking like a locomotive. Normal it drives fine but your mileage will suffer.
Good luck

Dump black tank or wait??

I have been storing/using my travel trailer at my 10 acre parcel I own trying to get fencing and stuff put up. We are reserved for a trip to a campground that is full hookup. Right now my black tank shows about 1/2 to 2/3 full. I do not foresee us using the trailer until the trip.
Is it ok to travel with this much in the black tank if I do not have any gasket issues b/n head and base?? Normally I travel with minimal black tank.
It would save me time not having to hook up trailer to dump

RE: Anyone have anything good to say about Ford's 6.4L Diesel

2008 6.4 with 47k miles. replace two injectors at the begining, Auto ac control needed replacement and the dpf issue which all 3 had issues with the first year.
I deleted dpf/cat and tuned the truck.
I can't say I have had major issues. It drives great now takin off the emmissions stuff.

Help decide spst or spdt switch

I cannot figure out which switch I will need for this setup.
I have a navigation with rear view camera. Simple wiring is connect a lead to reverse and camera switches on.
I want to install a switch so that if I reverse camera comes on. If I flip the switch eventhough vehicle is not in reverse the camera will come on. It is a 12 volt signal that triggers the camera.
Do I use a SPST 3 prong?
#1 vehicles reverse wire
#2/middle Wire from navigation
#3 12 volt wire
SPDT with 3 prong with same wiring as above??

RE: TT Tires! I am so confused

Personally I do not think st or lt tires matter if they are properly weight matched to load.
What does matter is dry rot. The same set of tires if used regularly so that they heat up will last a lot longer than a set that sits 4 -6 months out of the year. I think it has to do when they heat up it helps the rubber.
I have boat/trailer that weighs around 11k lbs. Same tires ran great for 4 yrs. 5th year I had some blowouts and yes, the boat sits during off season b/c of family, weather, etc..
So get what you want and know they will not last like your vehicle tires.

RE: Vornado Heater switch help

I took my chances with a SPST and it worked. For those with one of these, if purchased sometime in the fall of 2009 there is a5 yr warranty. Mine was purchased fall of 2008 with 1 yr warranty.
Saved me $25 bucks and shipping charge to have vornado fix it. Switch was like $4.
THanks and hope this helps someone in the future.

Vornado Heater switch help

My vornado heater switch is bad but I do not know what type of switch it is.
It is 3 prong. There were two black wires and the center was a white wire. The switch is a single throw but is it double or single pole?
I am hoping it is a spst swtich but I fear it is a dpst switch. Radio shack has similar lighted rockers but they are spst. The dpst are not going to look right.

RE: How did you attach diamond plate

I would use sheet metal screws. Silicone the screws before putting them in and then I would silicone at least the top part of the sheet metal.
