RE: Rv. net realy!!!!

This reminds me of a condo association, half the members think the rules only apply to the other half. A rule is there for a reason, simply follow it.

RE: Ninth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B9) May 18-20, 2012

We wanted to get the Rally finances posted as soon as we could so that whoever is thinking of nominating a site for the BIG, BIG, BIG B-10 would know what they are starting with. That being said, we have one sponsor's check that was mailed to the wrong address and is lost somewhere in the system. The sponsor sent me a e-mail stating that the check would be replaced and mailed to the proper address. I have no reason to doubt them as they offered to give me a credit card number which I could not accept so I feel it will get here in the next couple weeks. The following figures INCLUDE that check even though I do not have it.
INCOME:
Remaining funds from B-8 $1,796.00
Rally Fees 1,950.00
Sponsor funds 3,850.00
Total funds available $7,596.00
EXPENSES:
Food, plates, soft drinks, coffee,
and all related supplies and tips $2,550.00
Entertainment & tips 1,345.00
Gifts and prizes 1,046.00
B-rally.org fees 74.00
Ice 26.00
Tote bags, lanyards, card holders 284.00
Postage 10.00
Total Expenses $5,335.00
Balance remaining for the BIG, BIG, BIG, B-10 - $2,261.00
A complete itemized breakdown will be made available to the chosen hosts of B-10 if requested. This is a great start for B-10 so lets see some nominations.
Have a great summer, be safe in your travels, and thanks again to everyone involved.

RE: Winnebago Ford cab air problem

I just realized I never completed this topic. It was a hose that Winnebago sent directly to the Ford dealer, I believe it was 2 days, they replaced the hose and it was covered by the Winnebago warranty, no problems since and I spent 10 weeks in Florida over the winter.
Sorry I'm late

RE: Ninth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B9) May 18-20, 2012

We want to thank everyone who kicked in to help at the Rally. David our photographer, Michael and Janeann our keepers of the coffee, Jim and Carolyn for making the signs, dragging the banners to Woodside and taking them back home again for next year, and all of you who pitched in to keep everything running smoothly. Thanks also to those who worked behind the scenes throughout the winter.
Our thanks go out to the 8 who volunteered to be victims of the Hypnotist. Ruth, Dick, Arlene, Carolyn, David, Russ, Florence, and Diane. Without you there would not have been a show, you gave us lasting memories.
Finally a special thanks to all of you who attended B-9, you are the ones that made the Rally a success, it was great reuniting with old friends and meeting so many new ones. To whose who missed the Rally, we missed you too.

RE: 2012 Ford Fusion

I almost purchased the Fusion as there are great deals on them now. After I called Ford and was told I cannot tow it 4-down I purchased the 2012 Focus SE Automatic that can be towed. It's a nice car and gets excellent gas mileage.

RE: Another home run for Ford? 240 HP 2013 Escape...

In years past I would not buy a Ford unless the particular vehicle was not available through GM, such as the Pleasure-way Excel Class B, and now the gas chassis for class A motorhomes. I now own a F-53 chassis Winnebago and purchased a Ford Focus to tow a couple weeks ago. I will now never buy a GM or Chrysler product unless a particular vehicle I'm after is not available in the Ford lineup. I'm very happy with both of my Ford products. Don't even ask about solar panels.

RE: First Time Class A Buyer

You might add the Winnebago Vista series to your list, for being a entry level unit, they are built pretty well. Our break in run lasted 10 weeks and nothing went wrong, there was nothing to add to our list of repairs. When we purchased it last October after getting it home I found that the cab air didn't work, it was a hose leak, and there were edge tears in one of the slide toppers, and the patio light was cracked on top. The sliding steps quit working and it ended up being a low battery, that was my fault. I took it in last week to have the topper and light looked at, they are replacing both items under warranty and I had the cab air fixed under warranty at a Ford Dealer. It's worth taking a look at them, you get a lot for your money and in September the 2013 models will be out and you should be able to get a good deal on a 2012. One of the main reasons I chose the Winnebago is because of their large network of dealerships for repairs that might be needed while traveling.

RE: Car Seat Question

Our Winnebago Vista has a child seat tether anchor along with individual seat belts on the forward facing bench of the dinnette. The tether anchor is bolted to the floor. I also believe at 4 months the child seat is to be anchored and strapped in facing the rear.

RE: Boondocking

Our first TT was a 1972 14' Shasta, had two kids at the time. It had an ice box, propane heater with no blower, stove, oven, and a propane mantel light over the dinette (dangerous), a manual pump water faucet over the kitchen sink and if I remembeer correctly it had one or two very small 12 volt lights, we used a bag type porta-pot outside when needed. Never had a battery problem but ran out of propane several times on winter trips and it wasn't easy to find propane in those days. I sold the trailer to a friend when it was 6 years old and he used it for another 20 years and sold it to a friend of his, it might still be in use today. Sorry for getting off topic but the battery question brought back 40 year old memories.

RE: Fresh water tank filling while connected to shore water

We also get more pressure from our pump compared to the inline regulator, our regulator is not adjustable and I don't know what the pressure is set at but I'm likely to try a different one in the future.

RE: Cleaned up tow bar setup

I use one immobilizer for the drop receiver but for the tow bar I slide in a piece of 1/16" x 1-1/2" wide aluminum strip to fill the gap and hold it in place with a plastic zip lock, it works just as good as the immobilizer and you don't have to take it off. You could use steel instead of aluminum but it will rust.

RE: info needed for winnebago vista owners

I have a 2011 Vista 35F and I'm not having mine fixed unless it breaks. I know once they get their hands in there something else is going to happen so I'll take my chances for now.

RE: Ninth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B9) May 18-20, 2012

We're running around tying up all the loose ends for the Rally. Everything seems to be in place but I'm sure we will forget something. We look forward to seeing a lot of old friends and meeting a lot of new ones. We'll be there Thursday, go home for the night, and then back for the weekend Friday morning with a van load of stuff to set up.
See you soon,

RE: Moisture "sweating" in cargo area

The gasket doesn't always seal against the plastic door. I had the same problem with a 2004 Excel, I put blue carpenters chalk on the gasket, locked the door to get an outline and then put 1/4" thick x 1/2" wide stick on weather strip on the door around the outline. Also, put a piece of it along the inside of the piano hinge on top as water does get through there. Before you do any of this, empty out the compartment and let a fan blow into it for a good day to dry it out completely. After you do the above, lock it up and spray the heck out of it with a hose for a good while, then go back and spray it again. It should be dry when you check it. It will also get some minimal condensation in certain weather conditions so once in a while empty it and blow dry it again. This realy helped my unit, I also had a 2007 Excel and put the weather strip on it as soon as I bought it and never had a problem.
