RE: Thinking of getting performance chip. advice needed

I had a 2004.5 HO and had the Hypertech Max Energy. I bought the truck with 28000 mile and used the tuner from almost day 1. Traded the truck with 180000 miles and never had a problem with anything and I used the highest setting. Never figured the mileage without the program installed but with it I was getting 10-12 pulling depending on the speed and wind etc and 22-24 highway solo and 16-18 around town. I still have the tuner but not the truck. They claim it does not raise the exhaust temp and I did not have a pyrometer to verify. I wish they had one available for the 2010 6.7

RE: NICE RV Park/Campground Near Downtown San Antonio

Just recently returned from there for a business meeting and stayed at the Days Inn. It is right across from the mall and the entrance to the river walk. It was in the $50.00 a night range and has its own free parking. It is nothing special but was clean, comfortable, and convienient. We had a King Suite and it is actually located in another building across the street from the main building. It is walking distance to everything downtown. Also stayed there a couple of years ago as well.

RE: 50 amp 90 degree plug

On a tangent, who was the rocket scientist who came up with putting the power cord connection at the rear of the newer fifth wheels anyway? Makes a lot of power pedestal locations inconvenient and really cuts down on flexibility of where the rig has to end up being parked. Same here. My plug is on the rear corner and the main breaker box is in the frontmost storage area. They had to run about 34' of service wire to the breaker box.

RE: Plano, Texas to Palo Duro Canyon State Park

Regarding taking US70, I don't recommend doing so. Best overall time is to stay on US287 into Amarillo and take Loop 335 on the east side of Amarillo, south and west around to I-27 down toward Canyon. TX 217 off of I-27 is the only way into and out of the park if towing. You can get off the loop at Washington Street/FM 1541 exit and go south until you hit TX 217. Cuts 5-6 miles off the trip and several traffic lights and traffic congestion on the 'So-called Loop 335' I live just a few miles from the canyon. There is the Panhandle-Plains Natural History Museum on the campus of West Texas A&M University in Canyon.

RE: Power Chips

I too had tuners on a 2001 7.3 Ford (Edge Revolution) and a 2004 Dodge 5.9 (HyperTech Max Energy)and had increased power AND better fuel mileage on both. Never had a problem with either one. I now have a 2010 Dodge 6.7 and will be getting one as soon as I can find the one I want. (Smarty Jr. or HyperTech, waiting for HyperTech to be released. I am on their list for BETA unit.) Go to a GMC/Chevy or a Duramax forum and get brand specific feedback. Yes you will probably have problems if you misuse the additional power as with anything.

RE: Amarillo Area campgrounds

Amarillo Best Wonderland RV resort is definately NOT A RESORT. Not the best area to stay in either. Amarillo Ranch, Fort Amarillo, or Oasis are the best choices. Fort Amarillo is directly behind Gander Mountain. These are all on I-40 and easy back to 287. Oasis is just a few years old and located near Loves on west I-40. Fort Amarillo is closest to mall and other shopping and eating on west outskirts. Local RV dealer Jack Sisemore Traveland has opened an RV Museum and has the Flxible Clipper that was in the movie RV as well as other vintage RVs. Enjoy your stay just be prepared for the wind to blow!

RE: New old stock

We bought our 2004 in October 2005 at around 50% of MSRP and below NADA. Jump on it and enjoy!

2008 Cummins 6.7 4X4 fuel mileage

What fuel mileage are you getting towing and solo? Looking to trade to a 4X4.

Duramax/Allison durability

Looking at replacing my tow vehicle. I have found a 2008 GMC 3500 single rear wheel 4X4 with 120,000? Miles. I put 30,000 + miles a year. What should I expect to need to do to get 250,000 + miles out of the D/A combo? I know there will be normal wear items. How many miles do you people have on yours. Current truck is great but need to get 4X4.

RE: Another Question. Is air bags worth putting on a F250

Made a huge difference on my truck. They leveled the truck back up and really smoothed out the ride. Kept the truck from hitting the overload springs and the bumpstops. Well worth the money for me!

RE: MaxBrake w/ Ele/Hyd Discs info please.

I called and spoke with Carlisle and the lady stated that it would take a second or 2 for the pump to get up to pressure and to get maximum braking. There is no delay from the time the brakes are engaged and the pump to kick on. Delay time is getting to full pressure. The Prodigy P2 was on the list of compatible controllers but mine would not work and neither would another one that we tried. The P3 works. Even with the delay the brakes are better than the stock electric brakes.

RE: MaxBrake w/ Ele/Hyd Discs info please.

The controller is compatible and working, it just doesn't activate the hydraulic pump quick enough.

MaxBrake w/ Ele/Hyd Discs info please.

Looking for info from someone using MaxBrake with Electric Over Hydraulic Disc Brakes. I recently converted to disc brakes to get the needed braking for my rig. The hydraulic discs are a 100% improvement in braking. HOWEVER--- With the Prodigy P3 I have a 2-3 second delay once I start braking and the hydraulic pump to get up to pressure. Boost is set to 3 and gain all the way up. I talked to MaxBrake engineer and he stated the MaxBrake would eliminate most of the delay time. I am asking for input from anyone using the MaxBrake with Hydraulic discs. Doing searches on the forum I see everyone with electric brakes really like the MaxBrake but did not see anything input from hydraulic disc users. Thanks

RE: Rear window sunscreen

We have this one. Carefree Sun Shade Rolls up when not needed and down when needed. Bought extra clips so it can be raised enough to allow windows to open. Can still see through it when down.

RE: Fifth Wheel Hitch

Curt Q5 20k here. Great hitch. It has a rubber dampening system that made a huge difference in ride comfort over old RBW

RE: Trailer parking brakes

I have parking brakes on mine. They are called Rotochocks. First thing on when I stop and last thing off before I leave.
