RE: cat stalker

Near Boulder, CO a few weeks ago there were pictures of two cats that were on either side of a patio door. They were nose to nose against the glass.
The one inside was the owner's domestic cat. The one outside was a mountain lion.
I saw that in the news. Yea, its just like that but my cat has no collar. Otherwise they look the same. Well, the outside cat has about 3 times as much fur as my inside cat.

RE: cat stalker

Send them a bill for your screen door. Our former neighbors in the city used to let their cat roam and it would climb our screen door and eventually ruined it completely, in spite of repeated calls. They did however, start keeping him inside when I billed them for the door repairs.
Maybe I will.

RE: Well, I apologize...;

For which I apologize.
I made the comment:
"It is, sadly enough, a sign of the times.... Approximately 1% of the population of the United States is allergic to peanuts; therefore, no peanut products may be served in school lunchrooms, and all products that are processed in the same factories as peanuts must have an allergy warning on them!"
I just got a PM from a parent of a member of that 1%, telling me that I need education, and proceeding to tell me off big time for wanting to kill his daughter!
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Two of my 5 kids had to be tested for allergies. They popped allergic to many things, but primarily house dust. Try keeping your house allergy free, if you want a challenge! Hypo-allergenic mattress and pillow covers, vacuum bags, dust cloths, etc.
Thankfully, they outgrew most of the allergies.
Except one of them is so allergic to penicillin that he can't even be tested for it, the TEST could kill him!
One of my grandsons is extremely allergic to tree nuts. ANY kind of tree nut! Try dealing with THAT allergy! "THEY" don't give a warning for almonds or walnuts in cakes and such! The allergy is even less common than the peanut allergy!
Anyway, I am WELL aware of the problems allergy sufferers have! I was in no way saying that I am inconvenienced by the allergy warnings about peanuts.
I could just as easily have used the warnings about milk. You know the ones, "Contains Milk", they appear on yogurt containers, cheese packages, mayonnaise jars, coffee creamers, etc.
So, since I can't apologize the the person who blasted me, (he/she claims to have blocked me, and canceled his/her account)I will apologize to anybody else I may have offended.
There must be others, even though only one chose to take it personally...
I forgive you. Although I don't think its nessesary.
Of course we don't want anyone to get sick or die, but the only thing one can do is take care of yourself.
And remember anyone can develope an alergy to anything and any point in his or her life.

RE: cat stalker

It does seem like a nice cat. When I ran out there screaming for it to get off my screen, it jumped down and rubbed my leg. Blasted!
Funny,,, Not everyone can afford to take in every stray that comes along,
I would just call animal control and let them deal with the poor thing.
Even if it doesn't get adopted its better than just starving to death or getting killed by a bigger animal, especially if it was at one time someones pet.
The person on the phone said it showed up about a year and ahalf ago. It has a collar on with a tag. Thus the phone number. But why do they even bother if they don't let it in the house. We get a lot of snow around here and I am worried about him being out in the winter. I think they leave the garage door open and he had a very thick coat so many I shouldn't worry but.........He still shows up and I want to put my screen door back on. I don't know if I could take him to the shelter. There are sooooooo many cats there. Although it is a very nice shelter.

RE: cat stalker

I don't know if I'd even bother with the owners, as it seems as if they could care less.
I'd take the collar off, and bring the cat to the Shelter
But.....you don't know where that cat will end up....and if he will be re-homed?
Another option.....have the cat fixed, and keep it yourself:)
Or, buy a dog!:B
Yea, come to think about it, all the wild life is taking over the yard. Ground hogs, squirels, deer and now stay cats, since my pup died last year.
Maybe I'll put a hole in the fence so the neighbor dog can roam around my yard too. Naaaa, don't want his doodoo.

cat stalker

I heard a strange noise I could not place. I ran to the diningoom window to look out and see a black cat sitting by the pine tree looking up at me. The screen window was shredded. I think he tried to jump in the window. He either saw one of my cats or heard the parakeets chirping.
Then the next night I saw him sitting at our patio door staring in.
My daughter got a flash light and read a phone number off his collar. I called the number and told the answering machine their cat was at my house. When they called back they said just let him go. They didnt even know where I lived! When I old them, they said they lived in the same neighborhood and he was an outside cat.
This cat has since climbed up my potio screen doors and fequently stares into the door commanding the attention of my cats. I had to take the screen off the door to keep it safe in the garage. Now i can't open my patio door for ventilation.
This cat is getting to be annoying. I sprayed windex out the door at it to discourage its presence. It just goes away for a while and comes back. I don't want my cats going out anymore as I don't know if this cat will be around.
What would you do?

RE: TV shows - what will make it..what won't ?

I like Breaking Bad too. Too bad it’s almost over.
They are going to start the pilot over again early Dec. If anyone wants to watch it for the first time or just watch again. Our library has te first two or three seasons you can check out.
Do you know when the last season starts? I can't wait!!!

RE: Safeway Caught Another Shoplifter

It is amazing how today's generation believe lawless actions are OK, for one and all. What happened to punishing an illegal act, not condoning it and faulting the law for doing their job....:h
Of course, it needs to be age appropriate.IF the parents had done their job at "age appropriate", there would not be the problem we have today with theft and other lawless actions. However, with the MAJORITY of parents saying, "my child can do no wrong" so stop picking on the children, we are going to see an even worse age of lawlessness, before it gets better if ever. Just look at the actions of many "young adults" in the OWS and you see what is coming.
I agree that parent should be held accountable. But parents don't have eyes in the back of their heads and can't see everything all the time. Although opening, eating and discarding a package, I admit, would be hard to miss.
But that said, I found a stolen pack of gum in my daughters pocket after we I left the store one day. I marched her back to the store to apologies to the store manager. I held my breath as the store manager did the right thing my talking to my child about right and wrong, showing her pictures of thieves they were on the look out for and warning her that charges could and would be pressed for a second offence. I also had a talk with my child about what kind of person she wanted to be and stressed that she was better than that kind of behavior. I have not had another issue with her. I have to tell you that it would have been much easier to just talk to her at home. But taking her back to the store made it more real and important to her. The right thing to do is usually the harder thing.
We did not make an over the top issue about it but rather kept it age appropriate. Under stressing would have also been an injustice to her, making her unaware of the severity of her actions. Please do not blanket me and others in "this generation" as many of us are still doing the right thing. The things our parents taught us to do.
This case in my opinion was handled wrong all the way around. Its a shame. There was a teaching moment for the child as well as the guard that was missed. The parents should have been made aware, the child gently admonished and the guard re-trained.

RE: Emergency! Parakeet escape.need ideas

I looked for the bird this morning but he would be so hard to see it, seemed impossible. We knew where he was in the maple tree yesterday and we could hardly see him. Still, we have food and water out that looked undisturbed.

RE: Do you hurt everyday?

There's nothing wrong with old age, as long as you get there, without ALL the aches and pains. Me triple by-pass, Ischemic Heart Disease from Agent Orange. Type 2 Diabetes also from AO, Insomnia from Post traumatic Stress Disorder, Neuropathy and Drop Foot syndrome plus 4 or 5 other things all related from service in NAM, but we just came off l2 weeks in NM & Co. I'm 70 years young but will be slowing down. Not ready to give up the RV.
Thank you for your service.

RE: My MRI surprise!

I had ear plugs and a towel over my eyes. I fell asleep. Apparently I moved so they woke me up and asked me to stay awake so I wouldn't move again. Ooops.
I'm glad your experience was ok. Any results yet?

Well, Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. No sign of J-bird. I have my 11 year old covinced he has flown south for warmer weather. We will miss him but he lives on in our imagination.
