Howdy!
If your a vet or anyone in your family has served I would check with USAA. They gave us the best quote and we went with them last time.
"Happy Trails"
chiefneonI tried usaa and they wanted almost double what we pay for gieco.

RE: To join or not to join...that is the question

As a fulltime RVer you can find a membership to TT to be a tremendous value. But only if you use it.
As a TT member, I can say: If you decide to purchase, purchase only a used TT membership from a selling member. You end up paying pennies on the dollar and enjoy the same benefits.
Saying that, there are all kinds of TT memberships available. Some you only get 2 weeks in and have to be out for a week and then you can only use it 50 or 60 days a year for free. Not really a good deal.
Some you can get three weeks in and no week out and move to another TT campground for another three weeks all year long without spending another dime.
Our membership allows us to spend the entire winter in southern AZ and CA for free, we just move from park to park.
If you find a TT membership for sale by a private party, just get the contract number and call TT member services and get a copy of the membership contract and get the exact facts of that particular membership.
If your not in a TT area, the membership is usless.I agree,we use ours along with military bases.

RE: cable operated valve

Work the handle back and forth as you slowly close it,then give it a couple pops when it is fully closed.Mine leaks a little if I don't do that.

RE: Biggest New 5er behind my '06 Dodge 2500?

I've been coast to coast with no problem towing my 40' 4 slide 5er with my 2500.Just because you are doing it does not make it right!
Look at the following post from Ricochet (posted 5/9/12).
I'd say you are firmly in the #3 category.
"Having said that you are always going to have 3 types of folks towing.
1 is the GVWR guys who use the safety ratings set forth by the manufacture. I'm one of them.
2 is the RAWR guys who stay under the rear axle ratings which is most likely the same as your tire ratings. Logic is its legal in most states.
3 is the guys who don't believe in ratings period and would tow a Grand Teton with whatever they happened to own.
Just me but 3k pin is where I draw the line between the SRW and DRW trucks. Although the last couple of years the SRW 35 series trucks have made some big gains in payloads due to the bigger wheels and tires.
Good luck with your decision. Phffffft!!!!

RE: picking up a 2003 Sandpiper 27RLSS tomorrow

Good for you,you gotta be carefull. The laredo is still in that age range where lippert had the bad axles.Just be sure to check for even tire wear.I believe the laredo has electric slides which I prefer just make sure they run smooth.Good luck

RE: Spring Hanger question

Yes you can use one or both holes for desired hight. While you have the bolts out replace the plastic bushings with wet bolts and bronze bushings. They are not expensive.

RE: Satellite equipment

We have Dish and are planning to full time in June. When I spoke to Dish, they gave me a price of $400 for the equipment. Do I understand correctly that the dish and tripod can be obtained with no cost?Yes, if you agree to a 2 year contract.I did 2 years ago and they installed all the equipment including the reciever in my RV for free.We have been happy with the service.

RE: picking up a 2003 Sandpiper 27RLSS tomorrow

My previous 5er was a 2004 sandpiper platinum (that's the grey color)Looked just like yours. It really is a good finish that open range is now copying.Just take a good look at the tires,if they are wearing out at the edges you have the improperly arched axles.I had this problem and had to replace the axles. Also had leaks in the hydraulic slide rams and replaced those.Otherwise it was a nice 5er.
