bryce canyonn cg suggestions

Looking for recommendations on bryce canyon UT area campgrounds that you can ride directly from the cg to the trails. would be taking the rzr4, so need sxs friendly trails for the fam. I saw rubys inn, but what others can you ride directly from the campground? Looking for all from national forest CG with no hookups to full hookup rv. looking to go this summer; likely july, what's the weather like then, is it super hot? from the weather channel looks like 80's which would be just fine, is that right?

RE: Thinking of Upgrading from 08 to 11 PSD

here's what I'm saying, after 150k towing (assuming mileage and fuel price is correct), either way, he'll have spent $75k. For that 75k he can have an 11 with 150k on it or an 08 with 202k on it. who cares about the numbers, if you have the money and you want it, then buy it.

RE: Thinking of Upgrading from 08 to 11 PSD

At first 25k sounds like alot. But consider the following for your justification. 150k / 8mpg * $4/gal = $75000 150k /12 mpg * $4/gal = $50000 ouch :E

RE: Price range for a decent entry level TH?

if your not having any luck in tx, i wouldnt write off ksl because of the haul, you could have it delivered for around 700-800 bucks. you can always fly up for a few hundred bucks with your checkbook in hand and see whats available. also you will pay taxes in the state you register it, not where you buy it. the place i bought mine was http://www.washburnrv.com/ they have several posted at reasonable prices, plus figure money off their listed internet price when you negotiate. thing i liked was they actually have them serviced by a local rv shop prior to sale, and will provide you the inspection report and receipt for work done before you buy it. arizona also has a few dealers who specialize in repos. in terms of units available i think utah, arizona, and california have the most selection. problem i ran into was some of the used units are absolute junk, so if you travel to see them, you want to make sure there are a few in area to check out. i had a list of about 10-12 possible units when i went to look. of that, about 3 of them were worth consideration. if you go new, don't be afraid to call every dealer nearby till you find one that will give the right price. my first TH I bought via a phone call and credit card deposit, never stepped on the lot until it was built and delivered, that was a new 04 forest river t21sp, which i bought for 13,900.

RE: Critical Temps.

my experience with the duramax lmm is that if you keep the temp below the 3/4 mark on the temp gauge, it will do fine (vary btwn 210-230). If it goes above the 3/4 mark, and your not a the top of the incline, the temp will continue to rise, usually very quickly, and you should start planning a spot to pull over. the tranny is much easier to predict, as it heats up/cools at a slow and steady pace.

RE: Critical Temps.

at 250-255 the engine temp warning will come on, shortly after that it goes into safe mode. any sustained time over 230 on the tranny would be a problem.

RE: Price range for a decent entry level TH?

if your willing to drive to get a used one, i'd check out the utah clasifieds http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=231&cat=436&category=142 both utah & arizona dealers buy alot of repos from california and resell them i bought mine in utah, much better selection and price than colorado.

Leaky fuel station tank

This weekend the tank on the fueling station sprang a leak. Had a nice steady drip coming out of the tank. I pulled the tank, and it looks like it has a small crack where one of the L brackets is welded on. Question is, any ideas what it costs to get a hole in the tank welded? I found a few replacement tanks for around $400, but then i'll have to weld on mounting brackets, and the fuel lines aren't in the same place, so will have to modify it some. Anyone have this work done before, and whats the best kind of shop to look for (will a radiator shop do it)?

RE: How hot does your allison run?

150-180 on the flats, up to about 210-215 after a long 6-7% grade. this is pulling a trailer at about 11k pounds.

RE: Replacing ramp non-skid with Herculiner

painting over it would sure save u alot of work. you can always try a samll strip before you go to the effort to strip it down. y-guy has the suggestion we used to use, just carry an extra comforter and tuck it around the top and let it hang down, plus it stops the wind from blowing in when its cold.

RE: Replacing ramp non-skid with Herculiner

why not just paint it with grey or black concrete/deck paint after removing it?. The grit for traction is overkill imo. Pretty sure it is just wood underneath. Mine has very little grit to it, and it works just fine for loading quads. If you need more traction you can always paint a second coat with some fine sand added to the paint.

RE: Grand Mesa CO Camp & ATV trails

we ended up staying at the island lake CG on the grand mesa. You can ride out directly from the campgorund and connect to many of the trails. the CG was recently re-done last year and we were the first ones to stay in the site we picked. fishing was excellent, and plenty of opportunites to fish in grand mesa. some dispersed camping as well, but alot of those spots were full when i was there. From what I read vega state park is another option to connect into the mesa from the north side and allows riding out of the park onto the trails.
