RE: Goshen IN campgrounds

We just spent three weeks at Elkhart Campground in Elkhart. Close to lots of restaurants and the Walmart. Toured the Heartland factory which is about 5 miles away. Rode our bikes on the Pumpkinvine Trail out of Ox Bow Park in Goshen, went to the RV Hall of Fame, went to the Shipshewana Flea Market, drove over to Indiana Dunes National Seashore and of course toured Notre Dame. We really enjoyed the area. Did not have time for the 90 mile Heritage Drive but you can get CDs to explain all you are seeing from the Elkhart Visitor's Center. Elkhart has a wonderful riverwalk out of Bicentennial Park right in town.

We have stayed and will be staying again at Black Bear Campground in Florida, NY. The train station is about 5 minutes away.

Dometic AC cycling

We have two ACs in our Big Horn. They both have the same thermostat controls. This is a new unit and both the ACs are now ducted units. Yes I am certain they are both ducted into the same duct system throughout the RV. When the thermostat in the bedroom is set with the fan on hi and the ac on, when the compressor turns off, the fan shuts off (even though set on hi) and then a few seconds later it comes back on on high. The living room unit when set on hi, continues to run even when the compressor goes off. Would anyone have an idea if this is problem with the thermostat or the AC unit itself?

RE: Recommendation near Zion National Park

We stayed in Willow Wind. Not too far a drive.

RE: Elkart area camping

We spent a week in Elkhart Campground. Good location for shopping etc. A nice lake with a public boat ramp for kayaking and fishing. About 30 minutes from Shipshwana Amish area. By the way the there is a large flea market open on Monday and Tuesday. We are currently in Potato Creek State Park about 28 miles from Elkhart. One of the nicest state parks we have ever visited. Wonderful big sites, 6 mile paved bike path through the forest, a lake with rental boats and kayaks, lots of hiking trails.

RE: Experience with RV Direct

We purchased our first 5th wheel from RV Direct about 7 years ago and had it delivered to our hometown with no problems. Picked up our new one on Wed here in Elkhart. We ordered this one through RVCapitalWholesalers. Both purchases went perfectly with the RV delivered exactly as we ordered. We are currently in Elkhart now and just took the factory tour yesterday. We feel this is the only way to buy. You can order exactly what you want and can even add options not listed but ones you have seen on other units.

RE: Arkansas Travel

We are really wondering about something east of Little Rock on 40. Can one stay in the Walmarts or the rest stops and feel safe? I read that some Walmarts have bars across to stop RVers from spending the night?????

Arkansas Travel

We will be leaving Dallas in the AM and will make our way to Little Rock. We think we can then get a little further on I 40 toward Memphis before we need to rest for the evening but having a problem finding a place to stay between Little Rock and Memphis. Has anyone stopped at a Walmart off I 40 or stayed in one of the rest areas OR do you know of an RV park along that route. I did check rvparkreviews and got some terrible comments on a few parks.

RE: Grinding sound

Turned out to be frozen bearings. Had one entire replacement and the others repacked. Back on the road. Glad nothing more serious.

Grinding sound

Pulled into a gas station in Gila Bend AZ and heard a loud grinding sound which appeared to be coming from the front drivers side tire of the fifth wheel. We are spending the night in a gravel lot awaiting the arrival of a mechanic in the AM. The guy at the shop this afternoon did not feel anything hot so has almost ruled out a bearing. Suggested might be an axle problem. The tires appear to be perfectly aligned. Can anyone shed some light on possibilities so we are armed in the AM.

RE: The Oaks at South Point - Yemassee, South CaCna

We stored our RV there while at a time share in Hilton Head. We were not that impressed with the campground. A little run down. Not much in the area to do either unless you make the drive to HHI. Great for storage at $1.00 per day.

RE: Door County

Peninsular State Park would be my pick. Wonderful golf course there, a great bike path, tour of the lighthouse, and about mid way on the peninsular so good location for sight seeing. We love that park.

RE: Florida RV sites close to beach

We stay at Indian Creek in Ft. Myers Beach. Across the street is Gulf Air and Ft. Myers Beach RV Park. I do believe one or all are Carefree or Encore Parks. Gulf Air is about 3 miles from the beach. We ride our bikes there to avoid traffic. There is also a trolley to the beach that stops at both Indian Creek and Gulf Air.

RE: Tomoka State Park FL

Being from Florida, we have visited most of the state parks. Our favorite is Hillsborough River State Park. Great place for kayaking, nice sites too. If you want to see gators, try Myakka in the Sarasota area. Also a nice park with a trail to a swinging bridge. We are 36 feet and cannot get into Anastasia but it too is nice. Almost all the state parks are the REAL Florida.

RE: Red Coconut- activities nearby

The trolley works well. Try The Fish House in Santini Plaza. Bus stops right there. If you only want to stay on the beach area, no need for a car.

RE: Looking for a good resort around Tampa

We are from Florida and after we started full time (5 years ago) we began spending our winters in Arizona. We found as you did that the Fla. crowd is older, the resorts are not as nice, they are much pricier, and have less activities. We do spend the fall in Ft. Myers however, Lower prices, great kayaking, biking, beaching restaurant deals etc. Lots of park models in all the resorts in that area. You will find you are sandwiched between them.

RE: California to Florida i10 RV Campsites

We make the drive from Florida to Phoenix every year. Have found that we use our Passport America quite a bit. Agree on the rest stops in Texas though. Just depends on the time of year and if you need AC. Also in Deming, NM you will find quite a few RVs in the Walmart parking lot.

RE: luxury RV Parks near Phoenix

A Roberts Resort in El Mirage called Pueblo El Mirage. You can see pics on the Roberts Resort website. This is our 6th winter here. We have not found anyplace quite as nice. Huge sites, wonderful activities including an 18 hole championship golf course in the park. You can PM me for more info.
