RE: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread

I just placed an order for a Category 5 gen from CPE. It apparently is gray instead of yellow. It is also rated for 1700 continous watts instead of 1600. Other than that, it look identical to the yellow ones. Does anyone have any experience with this unit? This is interesting. I have two 73538i's born May or June of 2011 can't remember exactly and they are both rated for 1600 watts. This model has the dc charging plugs too, and also says rated for 13.3 amp. Would've liked to have the one rated at 1700 continuous.I have the same pair of 73538i's born on the same date, to start my A/C just fine. This model (red in color) does not have circuit breakers, just the delay on the control unit before it "trips". I do not have a hard start cap on my A/C. Are you saying yours won't run your A/C? Take it off of econ mode, for sure, but otherwise, it should fire. But even if it does not, do put on the hard start capacitor. As I think about it, I think it also has much to do with the A/C itself, as I have a Carrier Air V and most folks have a Coleman Mach III or similar. The Carrier (now out of the RV A/C market, sigh) used a different kind of starting capacitor that doesn't need a Supco replacement. If I had a Coleman, I would probably be singing a different story - buying and installing a Supco instead.

RE: Towing with Honda Pilot 2WD

Oh wow. I wouldn't want to be in that situation again. I had a tow vehicle rated for 3,500 lbs. and my pup's GVWR was 2,800 lbs. and it struggled dearly. All vehicles with a 3,500lb tow rating are not created equally. What vehicle were you using?? thnxs.Ford Explorer v6 4.0L at the time. 3,500 lbs. capacity without adding any additional ugprades or tow packages. I understand all vehicles and even implementations of the same engine are equal. Quite a few variations exist even with the same engine - I see that with my current vehicle's engine used in it's different implementations.

RE: TRIM LINE BAG AWNING

Good luck finding anything useful that you can use for a direct replacment. Your best bet is to go to your local upholstery shop and have them make a new bag. For them, it's not rocket science and will be able to make one with the insert sewn in. You'll need to take the awning and bag in together so they can sew the new bag to the awning. I'm going to have to take mine off and drop it off as there is nothing inside the bag to strap around the awning to hold it in place while I zip the bag closed. The last one had velcro straps to hold it rolled up, so you could take your time and do it by yourself. This current unit doesn't plus it is 14 feet long, so it's a major issue to put it away solo. I'm going to let someone else fix my problem, which I hate doing, but this is something I can't do for myself.

RE: Black Max Honda Generator Died

Sigh. And I say that because we're talking the engine being the problem. The engine is made by Honda (yes, the Red company). It's the GX390 engine made for commercial use. The "proper" Honda EM6500s generator uses the iGX390. It's the next generation of the same engine. In fact, Honda says, and I quote from their website about the engine in the EM6500s: With its multi-function, high performance design combined with the same superior reliability of Honda's legendary GX engines, the iGX sets a new standard for engines.Funny, Honda thinks the GX engine ought to be reliable. Why shouldn't you? Other than the usual "your mileage may vary". So, to the OP, in my situation I would attempt to get it repaired. Sure, you could spend 2.5x the price to get the proper unit, but I would give serious consideration to getting this one repaired, IMO.

RE: RVQ 2000 outside grill

BTW, you don't have to slide it onto the rail mounted on the wall of your camper. It is significantly easier than that, by just putting the frame on top of the bracket on the camper wall. Tip the front of the frame (closest to you, when you're facing the trailer) up until the mate on the frame drops into the bracket on the camper. Lower the frame back down to the normal position. No scraping and frustration needed, and it's faster.

RE: front and roof of pup

Here's a success story on another site. Actually, they have a whole forum dedicated to just roof repairs and rebuilds. You might find some inspiration and how-to there. It's quite possible, it's just time and some materials involved. Sorry it's more than expected. I recently bought a "ready to roll" and have spent most nights of a month fixing it up. Nothing quite like you're looking at, though.

RE: top won't go up on 1994 Rockwood XL

Just received a 1994 Rockwood XL as a gift and cannot get the top to raise. The rear of the top will raise but the front will not. I have looked at the gears that operate the top and there are two(2). I suppose 1 for the rear and 1 for the front. 1 will turn and 1 does not. I imagine the 1 that turns operates the rear and the 1 that does not turn operates the front. I believe the roll pin that connects the gear to the shaft is possibly sheared but but do not know how to acces it. Does anyone know how to access this gear. Thanx all for the anticipated replies. Tarheel TravelerYou can contact Goshen Stamping to see if your model's lift system was made by them. Some folks seem to think so. But I found quite a few hits on Google using "1994 rockwood xl lift" but you would have to decide what's useful and matches your lift system, without giving us more info and/or pictures.

Indeed, without a picture of what you're talking about, we have no idea what it is. As you say, it's probably from something else.

Sadly, I turn 1,000 today

And this is the post that does it. I've gathered much information from this site, and especially this particular forum, as that's the kind of camper I have. Many of you have turned me into a less-clueless person without having to directly experience the lessons learned by others. Thanks for sharing. And looking forward to meeting you (well, many of you) out there in the "wild". Now, back to your regularly scheduled program...

You can also contact CanvasReplacements.com as other folks have gotten the insert track from there. Jessie is more than willing to help. They carry and sell it, just not on the website. 1-800-232-2079

RE: tube out of the back of the refrigerator

I am surprised there is a plug in it. Certainly check (or find) the manual to your specific model of refrigerator as to how that is to be handled. Is it a check valve, meaning, water flows out, but nothing goes back in? Or is it solidly just a cap?

RE: Wanting to burn my tents

I'm glad you're taking a sensible approach. I burned out the transmission on my '03 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0l V6. I had towed with it for a couple of years before the transmission gave up on a drive out to Colorado. Hadn't made it into the hills yet, thank goodness. Took it to the transmission shop first thing in the morning. They kept it for the day and said "We can't figure it out. Drive it until it really breaks then we can fix it." I traded it in the next day for a V8 and have NOT regretted it. I googled Explorer transmissions and was in for a bit of a surprise at how many (at least they are sealed) go bad. Sigh. I haven't found anything as creature-comfort-friendly in that size of SUV. I pulled a 2,300lb. (when loaded) pop-up. I always felt I never had enough power in the Explorer, and forget long or steep drives. I started saying, after the trade in (and that was my second Explorer, after a '97), "Friends don't let friends tow in an Explorer." Best of luck to you in your decision. It's a bit of a journey, before you ever even hitch anything up. And I had finally sold my last family-sized tent last year after years of not needing/using it. Then, Cub Scouts came along, and we're back in tents...indeed, hang onto them for now.

SNIP Not sure if it was a great deal and don't want to find out cause that's always a downer. SNIPIt doesn't matter, as it was worth whatever you signed for, to you. That's what counts. Enjoy and welcome aboard, even though you did decided you hate better mpg ;)

RE: Electrical shock off of propane valve handle please help!!!

Why on earth would you try to recreate a shock near your propane cylinder?Oh, maybe to try to prevent it from happening when gas has already leaked, such as a tank change-out? If the hoses were connected and not readily leaking, there is not much danger of an explosion. Why not try to fix the problem in such conditions rather than have it occur again when LP has gotten loose? It happened once, it can happen again.

RE: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread

Do report back, as I am quite curious as to the pair's performance at elevation, and if rejetting is required, or do they just run rich. I don't recall: when trying to get the right amount of fuel/air mixture, running too lean can overheat and destroy the engine. What does running too rich do, other than not properly burn all of the fuel? Fouling and other build-up? Permanent damage, or just a tear down and rebuild?
