RE: Toyhaulers by Jayco?

I love my Jayco Talon fifth wheel. I always buy slightly used rather than new but that's a personal preference. Do look at the fifth wheels first because once you get into RVing you're not going to want to get out.

RE: Toy Haulers: I'm tired of tires

I stopped using tires on mine and went to rubber tracks.

RE: I broke all 8 studs clean off

No the wheel drum was not seize, still would spin. Lugs were tighten by me with a torque wrench, same as the other three. I am thinking factory defect, but could never prove it.
Wheel nuts should always be retorqued after a hundred miles or so. Especially with new hubs. I'll bet they loosened up while motoring down the road.

RE: Frame Bent ... HELP -- Need Advice

A good welder can fix that with just a little effort. May be worth it to go ahead and reinforce the rest of them while you're at it.

RE: So torn, fifth wheel with bunks or toy hauler

The great thing about the garage is it can be furnished to be any sort of room you want, office, storage, bedroom, entertainment room with huge TV., etc. The bunks pretty much remain bunks and other than limited storage aren't good for anything else.

RE: Bias or radial?

Just get 16" LT tires and be done.
Great advice. Add to that to stay away from chinese tires and it's a sure thing.

RE: So torn, fifth wheel with bunks or toy hauler

Some toyhaulers do have electric bunks in the garage. Have you looked at the Jayco toyhaulers? And I know some others do as well.

RE: Tri-axle toy haulers: E-rated tires?

Where's the best price to get the Michelin XPS or GY 614's?
It looks like the prices have gone up a lot since I bought mine from here
I thought I only paid about 210 each for them. And actually at the time I managed to get a local tire store to match the price on another set I bought for a work trailer. So you might even get a decent deal with someone local.

I've had no problems on my triple axle using 16" XPS ribs.

RE: Lost fire escape window

ok i will have to check on that. Did u just need the window diminsions or was it trailer specific?
There are different styles and dimensions. You could buy one from the manufacture of the RV or you might find the window manufacture's label on the frame somewhere. I just measured mine and found a new one on ebay. I removed the entire frame from the side of the RV and slide a new one in place. It was pretty easy. Just be sure to caulk it correctly.

RE: Lost fire escape window

I had the same thing happen in the last trailer I had. I found a complete new window on ebay for not a lot of money. I ended up just replacing the entire window but as cheap as it was it wouldn't be bad to buy the whole thing and have extra parts.

RE: Loft ladder?

Thinking of covering mine with some outdoor pipe insulation or something similar to give it some padding.
Although I agree that the ladder rungs are extremley uncomfortable , I would think the insulation might roll and possibly cause a fall. Just my opinion

Yes, going to have to find something harder than insulation that can be glued in place. However our top bunk doesn't often get used anyway.

RE: 2006 jayco 36w talon any opinions ?

I have the Talon F36V. It's a great trailer. I don't know of anything I would change. It seems very well built and I've had no problems with it.

RE: Loft ladder?

The ladder for my Jayco is well built and sturdy. But the rungs of the ladder are small and round and they are painful to your feet if you climb it. So if you order one be sure to look for one that has wide rungs and not the small round ones unless only small children will be climbing it.

RE: Kayaks in the garage

Our Hobies just stack perfectly on top of each other. I thought about building a rack out of PVC pipe and canvas. Kayaks rest best in a sling. So if you configured a rack with some canvas straps for them it would be the best care for the yaks. I've actually seen some kayaks that had been resting for an extended period of time in steel racks in a sporting goods store that had indentions in them were they warped from sitting on the steel supports. If you look at racks that the Hobie dealers use to rest them on when they are working on them they look like a couple of folding TV trays with straps between the supports rather than a hard surface.
Take a look at these for an idea of how to build some.

RE: Bathroom Layouts.

The way you have it worded, it seems like option 1 and 3 are the same. I've had the all inclusive bathroom in two different RV's and now have option 2 which I prefer. It might be different if we were traveling with kids but it's just the two of us and a private toilet is sufficient while allowing more room and open space with the shower/tub and lavatory in the open. I like option 2 but don't like 1 / 3.

RE: Has anyone felt guilty with owning a nice toyhauler?

I have rethought this question and now have a different answer. I wish I could pull mine in and park it right in the middle of the "occupy wall street" mob. I'd add a deck on top so I could sit up there and look down on them all. Add some sort of pressure attachment to the sewer discharge so I could fertilize them now and then and see if that made them grow.
