RE: Campgrounds in Island Park, Idaho

We also stayed at Red Rock a couple years ago. Nice park - nice area. The lake has a reputation for some of the best fishing anywhere, but we had no luck - did see some folks with nice catches. Only about a leisurely half-hour drive to the west gate. We didn't think it was too far away.

RE: Nice RV parks in Northern Michigan

We really liked Timber Ridge Resort when we stayed there last summer. Here's why. It's a nice park, and you can't beat that kind of service.

Not really a problem - just annoying

Our bedroom AC blows directly on the thermostat for the main AC, which causes the main unit to shut off prematurely. Cutting back on the b-r unit thermostat helps, but doesn't cure the problem. I've thought about relocating the main t-stat, or building some kind of protective baffle, but thought I'd check here first: Has anybody had this problem? What did you do to correct it?

RE: Texas wildflowers

There was a good link on Facebook this year Texas Bluebonnet Sightings with lots of pictures and directions to the most spectacular fields. The consensus seems to be that the best is over for this year. As already mentioned, best times vary depending on weather, but a good rule of thumb is that they will be good in the weeks just before Easter. Several towns hold bluebonnet festivals - typically scheduled in April between the 10th and 20th.

RE: Waited WAY too long - Now what

Thanks for all the great suggestions. After posting, I remembered my father using fresh motor oil to clean up after working with old grease and dirt coated equipment. I used a 1:1 oil and gasoline mixture to remove the tar then came back with the bug and tar remover and a fresh wax. Looks good as new.

Waited WAY too long - Now what

Last summer we were routed over some fresh asphalt in a construction area. I cleaned the tar off the truck that evening, but didn't notice a bunch of little tar specks on the front of the 5er. Yesterday, I tried to clean them with some bug and tar remover and it worked on the fiberglass, but didn't work at all on painted areas. What, if anything, can I use so get old, set up, tar off - without ruining the paint?

2-cycle tools

I learned over the weekend that most of the 2-cycle tools (chain saws, weed-eaters, etc.) that I've thrown away over the years probably could have been fixed for less than $2.00! :S You can read about it HERE.

RE: sewer hookup Question

Hook up whenever you want - arriving or getting ready to leave - but you'll save yourself problems if you do leave the black tank valve closed until you're ready to dump. It is also a good idea to leave the gray valve closed and use the gray water to flush the hose after dumping the black tank. In our case, we have two gray tanks. I leave the valve for the kitchen tank open, but only dump the bathroom gray tank after dumping the black water.

Bluebonnet Run

We had been hearing for some time that the mild wet winter had the Bluebonnets blooming early this year, so yesterday we left the trailer and the dogs at home and went to look at the wildflowers. Skies were a perfect clear blue, temps during the day ranged from 70 in the morning to 81 when we got back home around 3 p.m. Couldn't ask for a better day. Our route and pics HERE We held our itinerary to an easy 6 1/2 hour, 215 mile loop, so we didn't make it that far, but we've been told some of the best patches of flowers this year are near Bastrop in the area devastated by last summer's fires.

RE: DirecTV RC65 Remote code for LED VIZIO TV ?

The listed codes on their website are 11756 10864 10885 11499 If one of them doesn't work, try StepNSet Set the "Mode Switch" to the desired mode such as TV for a Television. Press and hold the "Mute" button and the "Select" button until the visible LED blinks twice. Enter the code "991" followed by the "device number" 1 for Televisions 2 for "AUX 1" devices - VCRs or DVDs 3 for "AUX 2" devices - Audio You can step through the setup codes for this mode by pressing the "Channel Up" key to go forward through the codes or pressing the "Channel Down" key to go back to the previous codes. You can try out each code by pressing one or more function keys such as power, volume or digit keys. When you've found the setup code that works for your device, press the "Select" key.

RE: TX Hwy 95 Temple, TX to Bastrop

Not a bad route to take. There is a new bypass route at Taylor that avoids several lights and a railroad overpass, but I don't think it is worth it. I'd just go straight through town. Thanks, Bob. I'm guessing TX 95 is a 2 lane road with good shoulders??? Texas 4 lane (as I recall) :) Which means 2 lanes and shoulders. It varies, but Skip is pretty much right on.

RE: Am I correct

I am a hunter, and I support the cancellation. Not because of the hunting issue, but because the show stinks! I see it as just another way for Trump to pump up his monstrous ego and any sponsor - or fan, for that matter - is being an enabler.

RE: Hail damage

You might try Here - or just Google your trailer w/model and year. I went the Google route a few years ago - then printed out three identical units for sale across the country - and the insurance company accepted an average over the much lower NADA price.

RE: ***** 5th wheel tires ******

Do a search and you will find dozens of entries about "China Bomb" tires. My original equipment tires were Chinese Goodyears that gave me several blowouts with accompanying damage to the trailer. I checked air pressure every time we stopped and the darn things kept blowing anyway. Even though they were essentially new,I ended up replacing them all with LT tires and in approximately 10k miles have not had any more problems . Typical ST tires have a maximum speed of 65 mph. I never pull my trailer faster than that, but I'm convinced that a few thousand miles at or near the max does contribute to early failure.

"pour alittle in the bowel and let it sit. chevman " :E Sounds a little drastic, but it might work. At least it's attacking the problem at its source! :B :B :B

RE: I10 from the West to Galveston TX

Yes, there are lots of options depending on your starting point and what you are trying to accomplish. The simple solution is I-10 to I-45 south to Galveston. Traffic any time, but not too bad mid-day. Most of the options on the west side of Houston - Hwy 6, Beltway 8, etc will also have heavy traffic, and will probably not save much time. If you are coming from far enough west, a pleasant - no white knuckle traffic - route would be to take Texas Hwy 36 south from Sealy all the way to Freeport. Then Hwy 332 to FM 257 and across the toll bridge at San Luis Pass to West Galveston Island.

RE: 50amp Electric Requirements?

Get yourself a 30 to 50 amp dog bone adapter, and you will be good to go. They are available at most RV outlets, and Wal-Mart, etc.
