electric brake problem - help

My electric brakes are not working very well. I did replaced the brake shoes and the magnetics and had the brake drums turned in a machine shop. So it is safe to assume the mechanical part is operating o.k. When I measured the amps on the truck output I read 12 amps. I measured at each trailer wheel brake 12 amps, too! I believe it shoud read at each brake only 3 amps. Any suggestions about what could be wrong. Thanks for your help

Furnace stopped working - any ideas?

Suburban gas furnace has just stopped working - stove top and water heater still working so I know there is gas - when we turn on the furnace the fan goes on but the heat does not kick in - not a major problem as we spend the winter in Florida and usually get by with our electric heaters but there are those few days when it is really needed - any ideas about what may be wrong and how to fix it - thought I would check with the forum as they have been so helpfull in the past - Bob

Stuck in the Yukon - New or Used

Currently stuck in Whitehorse,YT with a 5th wheel and a 2004 Ford F350 diesel that needs a new engine - interested in opinions of how many of you would go the used route (was told at least 8k before install - has to be shipped from southern Canada or new (25k after being shipped up and installed) - prices are approximate and because of our remote location we have no room to negotiate or shop around - we are from Florida so staying here is not an option - except for the engine problem the truck is in great shape though it does have 154,000 miles on it - it's a king ranch with nice features - I can afford to go either way though the 25K really hurts - can't trade it in because it does not run plus there is nothing here to trade it in on - just found this out and trying to get some other thoughts - Bob THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR INPUT - found a refurbished engine in Whitehorse at Horseman Mechanical that has been upgraded/improved in 4 areas - will be installed by the Ford Dealer - this was our best route to go due to our location and what is available - if you have never been here you have no idea of what it is like - it is a beautiful area with the greatest people but your options are limited - Whitehorse has a population of only 25,000 people according to their Welcome to Whitehorse sign yet they are the capital city of the Yukon Territory- I looked at all the options you guys suggested 20 times over - I know there are those of you who agree or disagree with our choice but I want to thank all of you for your help and your concern - will post one more time when we leave town next week - Bob and Vicki

tow needed to whitehorse from dawson city

truck had to be towed from dawson city to the ford dealer in whitehorse and that is covered under my car insurance - good sam's will not tow my 5th wheel there because it is not disabled - would cost a fortune to ship to whitehorse by a towing company - if anyone was going that way I would pay for your gas and then some - traveling with another couple with a 5th wheel and he offered to tow his 1/2 way and then come back for mine and then repeat the process the next day - hate to put him through that ordeal if someone with the capability of towing a 5th wheel just happened to be going that way - they wouldn't have to pay for their gas and it would save me a lot of $ - strictly a shot in the dark as we will be leaving tomorrow August 3rd around noon - Bob = NOW IT IS 8/6 AND WE ARE IN WHITEHORSE WITH THE RIG AND THE TRUCK IS AT THE FORD DEALER - my friend towed his rig half way and then came back for me - next day we repeated the process - that's how I moved the rig - Called GS about my rig when we 1st broke down on the Dempster and after 50 minutes on a borrowed satellite phone the person could not locate us - had no idea where the Yukon was - had to give the phone up - drove to Dawson City to get tow for my truck - too dangerous a setting to be waiting for someone at GS to help, plus low on food and water - spoke to GS when we got to Dawson City and they said they would not tow the 5th wheel to Whitehorse because it was not disabled - argued that my 5th wheel without a truck is disabled - told them I was forced to act on my own for the above reasons and that their person dropped the ball - will wait until the truck is done and we are back in the USA to continue the discussion with them - did want to let those following this post know how things turned out - will post in a few weeks about how I make out with GS

RE: Inuvik - Personal Experiences wanted

R and R - in 2007 we took a trip with Adventure Caravans for 58 days - sounds like the same one you were on - this time we are going on our own with 3 other rigs - your journal is amazing - can't wait to show it to our friends coming with us who have never been there - that journal is better than any travelog I have ever seen - sure my DW will want to do one - thanks again - Bob and Vicki - ps if we weren't going to the NWT we would have liked to go with you to Prudoe - excuse for another journey

Inuvik - Personal Experiences wanted

Driving to Inuvik this July and would be interested in the experiences of those who have made the trip - where you stayed / what you did / was trip worth it / mishaps / surprises - pulling a 5th wheel with a Ford F350 - in 2007 spent 58 days in Alaska and Canada - saw a sign for the NWT but didn't have the time to visit - don't want to miss it this time - read a lot about the area but find the actual experiences of those who made the trip much more valuable - Bob and Vicki
