RE: Automatic Transfer Switch

We had the same problem last month. Since our generator is a Onan by Cummins I took it to the local Cummins shop. They not only new where the ATS was but had a replacement.

RE: Problems with TracVision S2 satellite dome

I also have the same unit on my Dutch Star, Tech support told me to disconect all cables to/from my receiver & wait for 5 minutes to reconect. This only worked once. Next time it did the noise & green light flashing thing it cost me $1500.00 to get a new dome dish installed. That hurt, but now we have perfect TV in our MOHO. Anything to keep the Mrs. happy.

RE: 2004 bounder diesel house batteries

I replaced the 6 batteries (2 twelve volt starting & 4 six volt house) last year right from the Interstate battery truck. I took pictures of the old set-up & the local Interstate dealer helped me not only choose the correct batteries for my unit but made sure the wiring was correct. I could not find a wiring diagram either.

RE: This Really Happened?

We know this dealer really well & nothing surprises me. The dealership is run by totaly dishonest owners & nobody around here will even go onto their lot!

RE: five to seven year old newmar motorhome

We purchase a 2004 Dutchstar in 2007. Mileage was very low at 10,000. Being suspicious in nature, I had it inspected by two different mechanics which they both said it was in perfect shape. After 5 years of use & 50,000 miles later, it has been the best RV we have ever owned. Nothing but regular mainenance costs.

RE: Kudos to Interstate Batteries

Kudos to the local Interstate dealer as well. One phone call with the details of my current 7 year old batteries, he supplied me with 6 new upgrades, helped me install the new ones properly & took the old ones away, all for just the price of the batteries. What a company.

RE: Florida welcome center

The Florida Welcome Centre just off I-95 tends to be a little busy 24/7. We pull into the last Georgia rest area before entering Florida when we travel south. Well lit, patroled & a lot less activity at night.

RE: Silly Electric Awning! Just won't behave...Help!

Mine had the same problem. The cause was moisture getting in those wire connectors going into the awning control box. Once they were removed & the connections properly sealed with heat shrink connectors, no more problems.

RE: florida sun pass

We put our Sun Pass transponder on the inside of the windshield as high as I could reach& not visible due to the TV location. Works like a charm & haven't had to stop at a both in three years. Only problem they have is putting our postal code into a zip code spot.

We agree totaly with accsys & MPI Mallard. We are heading down just after Christmas & go over the border with fridge & pantry empty. No problems at the border at all & you gotta love those prices.

RE: Diesel starting in cold weather

I am a little south of you but our weather is about the same in January. First rule, don't start the diesel engine in winter, but if you have to, you should have an engine heater, plug it in a few days before starting. You should be fine. If you don't have one, get one installed.
Our main problem is the brakes, because of our high humidity & cold temperatures, last year the air brakes seized to the drums. The solution is to not set the air brakes when storring for winter but to chock the wheels. As the air in the system slowly releases, it gently sets the brakes making it easier to release in cold weather.

Used wife's green kitchen plastic scrubbing pad with a little dish detergent & all bugs & dirt came off with no scratching, then did the Mothers Liquid wax treatment. Looks like new.

RE: Duo-Therm not working

We have to purchase a new thermostat/control switch about every two years. On my third one now. Most RV dealers carry them in stock. $90.00 or so pus shipping. Its just one of those things about a 2004 Newmar.

RE: MONACO DIPLOMAT vs NEWMAR DUTCHSTAR

We purchased our 2004 DSDP in 2007 & other than regular maintenance items have not had any problems at all. We love our DutchStar, travel from Canada to Florida every year & use it 9 months a year including winter camping on weekend sky trips in January.
My friend's Monaco has been laid up now for almost a year waiting for chasis parts & other problems.

RE: Sulphur smell of water

Our stick house is on well water & we get the rotten egg smell when our unit is parked for a while. My solution is to drain the whole water system & using the winterising system that is on my coach, flush the whole water system, including the hot water tank with chlorine/water mixture. So far doing this once a year seems to solve the problem.

RE: Slides won't come in...

On our DSDP, slides will not work with engine running or house batteries low. As crasster said, house batteries must be good & fully charged for the slides to operate. We replaced all batteries last year everything works so much better. Good luck.
