RE: Looking for a 28'-32' Class A diesel

That's awfully small for a class DP. In that size you may be much better off looking at gassers.

RE: WIND

Wind was bad this morning. I have learned to go slow when the wind is pushing the MH around.
This time the wind was out of the south west and I was traveling on the interstate going south east for a stretch. So the wind was perpendicular to the MH. This caused the awning to start to bang against the MH and extend at times.
I stopped when needed to retract the awning the 4 to 6 sinches it extended and slowed my travel to 40 mph to reduce the problem. The interstate eventually turned east to north east and I was back to my typical 63 mph.
Any suggestions for the future?
Is the Dometic awning on my Tiffin defective or a just poorly made?
Not an uncommon problem and I've seen quite a few destroyed.
Several solution available such as:
Clamp
There seem to be two types, those that attach to the arm and lock the roller and those that attach to the wall and hold the awning against the side.
Of the two, my preferance would be to imobilize the awning as much as possible rather than just locking the roller.

RE: Looking to buy 1990 to 2000, what issues?

Here is an example of what you can get close to your budget.
Great high end coach with one slide and Lot's of amenities and comfort.
Clicky
Plus, a 330 HP Cat would give close to 10 mpg avg with plenty of power.
Or, also a real good choice:

RE: Running roof AC while underway

My dash air crapped out just recently and when I took it in for repair a couple of days ago I ran the roof air. Interestly, I quickly realized that the roof air duct(s) are behind the drivers seat and didn't help much when the sun was coming through the front windows....better than nothing but still toasty driving. With the dash air, if takes care of that problem nicely.
To me, worthwile to repair.

Source for Used Sat Dishs

I'm considering a roof mounted sat. dish, either a taveler of Motosat (dish network) and wonder if there is a source for used or reconditioned units.
Any downside with used units??

RE: Monaco Executive GM ignition key upgrade :)

WOW, that's really Ford Dedication. Should have bought Beaver as some use Navigator headlights and taillights, that would have really made your day. If fact may even use a Navigator ign switch, talk about ecstasy.

RE: Why did tire blow

As was said, we'll never know for sure but the most common cause is underinflation. Something a good TPMS would catch.

RE: over heated & Broke down, update now in Flagstaff

I've been following this thread and really feel bad about your misfortune but the more I ponder the harder it is to visualize what could cause loss of compression in all 6 cylinders simultaneously.
I mean, each cylinder is independent of each other and it would have to punch a hole in each piston. Breaking a crankshaft could do it. Valves, unlikely to affect all cylinders...same with a cam shaft. Head, again it seem unlikly to cause a total loss of compression.
Still, with the enging just stopping??? The answer will be interesting.

RE: Broken hitch...

Fortunately the towing loads with a toad 4 down is quite minimal. Virtual zero tongue wt which is what really causes receiver failure and very little towing wt. I did a study with my TT and a 750 lb tonque wt would generate a shock load of well over 2,000 lbs downword force traveling on rough roads.
Really with a toad 4 down you're only pulling whatever is the rolling resistance....probably less than 1,000 lbs regardless of the the vehicle wt. The only time you will see the full toad weight would be climbing a 90 degree grade.

RE: vegas trip

93 s to 318 back to 93 and on to Vegas. Very nice drive and the 318 cuts off some grades.
We did this route last year and will do it again going north. FYI, Jackpot, NV is worth as stop as is ELY.

RE: Beware in keys

I think there is a lot more to this story than is being told. "having a problem with a part manager" and the MH was towed away without the owner being informed. Excuse me if I'm just a tad sceptical.
No park manager would take on that lialbilty without a lot if dotted i's and crossed t's.

RE: Hwy 303 N from Buckeye to bypass Phoenix

Thanks for the tip on Sun Valley Pwy, it does look easy but, when plotted us street and trips, it has me turning on N 219th than going N to 60 at Whittman. It appears to add aboout 2 miles vs. 303.
60 is what I want as we're going through Las Vegas up to Idaho.

RE: Diesel Pusher Generator sound level

Mine is not a front mounted gen set but located a bit aft on the drivers side. It's not load at all. You can hear it but more as a background noise, certainly less than normal conversational level. If the coach wasn's so quite traveling, you would probably not even hear it.

Hwy 303 N from Buckeye to bypass Phoenix

I'm looking at a route that bybasses Phoeniz as we head N and see that 303N from 10 connects to 60 and seems like it might bypass some pretty congested areas.
I very much try to avoid major metroplitan areas and don't mind going a bit out of my way to do that. Running over to Gila Bend than N on 85 has always served us well but never tryed 303 before.
Looking for info from others that have done this.

RE: Does Durabond replace caulking?

I've used the Eternabond and it works great. However you don't want to use it where it visible. Not as cosmetic as well applied color matched chaulking.

RE: Insurance Question

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I do have separate policies on the two vehicles.
As far as seeking advice, I'm not....just opening up an academic discussion and, who knows, perhaps someone with actual knowledge would chime in.

RE: 93 safari continental friend want to buy

In that time frame it might be on a SMC chassis or one they used earlier. Engine should be a 290 or 300 hp Cummins.

Insurance Question

An interesting insurance question popped into my mind. This is purely hypothetical of course.
Scenario One:
You are happily motoring down the road and, in the process of making a turn the toad sideswiped a parked car or ???? No contact with the MH just the toad. Which policy covers the damage??? The toads liability or the MH assuming they are separate policies.
Scenario Two:
The toad brakes looses as the result of misfortune and damages property or injures some one. Same question, which policy would would be liable?

RE: Beaver Model Compaisons

One point though, in the 36-37' range I blieve that eliminates the Marquis and Patriot Tunder. Not sure about the Contessa in those years but I believe the Montery might. Also, Montery models may have a rear radiator vs. side radiator which you might want to factor in. Not sure but something to consider.
