RE: Campgrounds near Raleigh, NC

I'm not sure where the cg is on the fairgrounds, but what I've seen is a gravel parking lot out the far side away from the last group of buildings. Those pictures make it look very different, so I must not have seen the nice part. They have a new section that is open behind the James Hunt Horse Arena at Trinity Rd and Youth Center Dr. It is a very nice place to "camp". It is not a destination but certainly is useful for short stays with 50 amp full hookup sites for 25 bucks a night. It is patrolled by security 24/7. We stayed there for about a month back in 2010 when we had a disaster at our home here in Raleigh.

RE: bug repellant question

Have used Avon Skin So Soft in the past but have not been very happy with the smell and residue it leaves behind. While at a rally a couple of weeks ago, a friend told us about this. I ordered some but have not tried it. He swears by it so we will see. I will report back once I used it.

RE: Baltimore, MD RV Parks

Go to RV Park Reviews and put in Baltimore, MD as your search location. Then you enter the radius that meets your criteria, like 10 miles, 15 miles, etc. This will bring up every RV park within that radius and show whether they are N, S, E, or W of Baltimore City center. Then you can read the review of each park by other campers as well as visit the parks website, if they have one. This should help you find a park wherever you travel in the USA or Canada. As long as I have used rvparkreviews, I never knew or used this feature. This is a great little tidbit of info. Thanks.

RE: Raleigh RV Show was a bust

This seems to be following a "trend". We went to the Charlotte RV Show in Feb. at the Convention Center downtown only to be informed at the end of our trek that there was another RV Show that same weekend in another location that was not affiliated with "Affinity". It was the NC RV Dealers Association show. Now this past weekend was the NC RV Dealers Association show. So it seems that now we are to be bombarded with 2 RV Shows. The "Affinity Group" show and the "RV Dealers Association" shows. Is there room in the RV market at this crucial fuel issue time for this to happen?? :@

RE: Table and chairs

The issue I have with the booth is that it is not very comfortable to eat at. The seat is too far away from the table for us. We are both not very large people and the table and chairs just work better for us.

RE: Campgrounds at the beach, East Coast/Florida?

If you plan on going to Hatteras, Rodanthe/Waves, I highly recommend that you take your own supply of water, albeit for drinking or otherwise. We vacationed there last year and the water was terrible at Camp Hatteras. The inline water filter was completely clogged with sand and salt when we got home. :E

RE: Trying to work a deal on a new Phaeton

Jonny We had our first coach for 2 years before selling and purchasing something larger. That coach was a Winnebago Journey 40 ft. We too loved everything about it but wanted 4 slides and a bigger fuel tank. The Journey had a 100 gallon and our Bus has the 150 gallon tank. It makes a LOT of difference in our fuel stops now. Go to this forum and ask your questions there. There are a lot of good folks on this forum with lots of them owning the same coach you are considering. Good luck!

RE: Grey Water Soap Buildup

We have the sealevel system. We used Pine-Sol and water in the tanks on the way home. It seems to clean the tank walls without doing anything else. We dump as soon as we stop at home. Easy, cheap, smells good... x1 on the Seelevel system. We use Pine Power. We pour a little into the tanks with tanks about 1/3 full, travel and let them slosh around. We then dump when we arrive at the campground. Smells good and keeps the tanks clean.

RE: Motorhome fires

One issue about this is that some of the articles that I have read stated that their motorhomes caught fire while the propane was off and the fridge was on AC. I do not think the fridge has to be on propane for it to catch on fire.

RE: Flying J's vs. Loves

One less person for me to wait for while filling up at Flying J. Follow their rules, which are pretty simple and you're on your way in no time. Prepay is NOT necessary... Pull up to pump. Swipe Frequent Fueler Card Pump gas Pay inside with cash or credit and receive the cash price less 3 cents. How hard is that....:h:h:h......Dennis We do the same. But we only use the truck pumps. RV pumps too difficult with the general public trying to use them. Truck pumps easy. Plus we can fill from both sides.

RE: Raleigh, NC

I would definitely go to the NC State Fairgrounds. We had to live there for a month back in 2010 while repairs were being made to our house in Raleigh. Go to the new area behind the Horse Arena off of Trinity Rd. They have a whole new section up there with gravel pads and 50 amp hookups and water. Stay on the end near the forest because the sites are more level on that end. In April, you should not have to worry about getting a spot up there. I do not believe they take reservations though. You also could not ask for a more convenient location to NC State as access to Western Blvd is right down the street. Good luck and pm if you have any more questions.

RE: Good Sam's Club and Pilot/Flying J Card

Pilot / Flying J have a frequent fueler RV card as well as the new fuel credit card. The frequent fueler card is not a credit card but does allow island pump start and and higher pump dollar amounts. This card does require some personal information but not as much as the credit card. There are some limitations as far as locations where the card works but I have found the benefits helpful at the locations where the card does work. Saving the extra walk to the desk, having to prepay a designated amount or leaving a credit cart with the clerk is a nice reward for making Flying J / Pilot my preferred fuel supplier. x2

RE: Thanks for Saving Me $ on TP

Sorry gang, I will NEVER put COSTCO TP in my rig. Put a few sheets in a glass of water, it if doesn't dissovle, don't use it. COSTCO TP will not breakdown within a short period of time. fred That is strange. I did that test and mine broke down within a minute. We have been using Kirkland brand for a couple of years without any issues. We have a macerator pump with the clear connection at the dump valve. It is always broken down by the time it hits this valve.

RE: looking for nice rv park off I95 in SC and or Ga

We are currently here for the night enroute to Fl. This is a very nice resort with easy access to 95. There is a little traffic noise but not too bad. The sites are nice and long with concrete pads. They even have dedicated faucets at each site for washing the RV or car. Very nice place for only 37 bucks a night with my FMCA discount.
