RE: solar 140 panels for $189 where are they?

Don't forget the MC4 cables as needed to reach a combiner box or direct to controller. Or use the MC4 branch connectors to combine power in parallel. The two hole strain relief also work excellent to keep water out of the combiner box or out of the RV. Yes, thanks. I measured to make sure pannels would fit, I'll have to measure cable length. Do you try to get real close on cable length or can you have a couple loops if a cable is pre-made longer than you need? My trailer is pre-wired for solar, but I'll be darned if I know where the ends are located in the roof. I was told there was a round ink spot where the wires were looped in the roof, but being an 06 that is long gone.

RE: solar 140 panels for $189 where are they?

This PWM controller is rated 25 amps should serve you well. Panels are about 12 amps each. http://www.solarblvd.com/Morningstar-Sunsaver-Duo-With-Remote-Meter $150 includes remote :) Or are you thinking MPPT? You will extract a bit more power but the price goes to $325 - $450 That's the one I had my eye on but I know nothing about solar. I'll pick one up when I drive over and pick up the pannels next week. Thank you

RE: I Wish There Was An Aftermarket product for....

If there is a market, somebody will buy one from you and send it to china to be copied. Then sell it for less than you have in materials. Been there, done that, not a lot of fun.

RE: What did you do to your Toy Hauler today???

I went inside and just looked around. I rubbed a few things, smelled a few things, checked a few things and just pictured our next trip that will be in 2 weeks. I love the damned thing. SBB Great post http://forum.toyhaulnhooligans.com/images/smilies/1dude.gif

RE: Dexter EZ Flex question

I think they need to come up with a heavy duty 33" kit. Think there trying to cover too much ground with the present one. And I thought mine were squished, you win :)

RE: Never Lube Bearigs

P.S. Axle nut is 1" 7/16ths so you'll need that socket and a torque wrench too ;)

RE: Never Lube Bearigs

My rig has the 50mm neverlubes. Axles are 06 vintage. Had one that I wasnt happy with a while back, play grabbing the tire at top and bottom and rocking with grease showing around the outer edges. Dexter was very good about replacing under warranty. From my reading the larger bearing has a better rep than the 50mm one. The one that went bad (timken)was stamped USA all over it. It was easy to replace the bearing and in my opinion could easly be done on the road. Maybe my hub is a little loose? But it wasnt a real tight fit. Snug, but not needing a press. I did use a press but think I could have done it with hand tools. Did alot of searching locally and only thing I came up with is a National bearing Part # 513058 Only makings are nsk on the outer shell. It was $45.12 at O'rileys. Cartridge bearing 42mm x 76mm x 39mm. Onboard for a spare. The timkens were very expensive if I remember right? Seeing one apart didnt give me a warm fuzzy. Lucky to get a teaspoon of grease in one. I also carry the old shell to press a new one back in if needed on the road. Hope this helps BB

Posted By: dedmiston....And to any kind folks from other corners of the forum .....If you're pouting and feel ostracized from the group, then maybe it's for the best; maybe you wouldn't fit in here anyway. I personally have gleaned important information from ALL the different forum members and in many cases each and every one of us over time have owned every type of RV, regardless of what we own at this present time. AND.....FYI.....a toy hauler is nothing more than a Class C or Class A with an open space in the rear so what is your point? So are we to understand from your 'rude and unprofessional' comment that you personally are now going to delete posts from forum members that do not presently own a Toy Hauler and disallow them from participating? I certainly don't recall in the "Forum Rules" that one can only post in a forum that relates to their RV. Is the Admin of RV.Net aware you have made up your own rules? Before anybody gets all worked up over this, the OP's comments were made about "TIRE THREADS" in the toyhauler forum. YES, JUST tire threads.... Dont think tire threads will go away due to the fact they are now the largest ongoing maintenance cost for an RV. Things have changed and many tires are not as good as they used to be. Coupled with the fact a $80 tire is now $160+ from a few short years ago. When there number comes up, People are going to ask where and how they can get the best bang for their buck and rightfully so. I think a single tire/wheel section is the way to go and keep it out of all the seperate sections. If you want to read or ask a tire question go there http://forum.toyhaulnhooligans.com/images/smilies/popcorn.gif

RE: LT tires, or Trailer tires... Whats best ?

The following is a NHTSA Safety Standard; “To maintain tire safety, purchase new tires that are the same size as the vehicle's original tires or another size recommended by the manufacturer. Look at the tire information placard, the owner's manual, or the sidewall of the tire you are replacing to find this information. If you have any doubt about the correct size to choose, consult with the tire dealer.” FE Really need to broaden your horizons a little. With a little reading in THIS thread you will se the OP is NOT sure what axles he has as the trailer is in storage. You will see that the CERTIFIED gvw for this trailer is 13,000 lbs. The OP is proposing putting on tires that can carry 18,000+ lbs and that's not including tounge weight. The OP STATED the axles are stock from WW. At best I would say they are 6k axles. Have you READ this thread ?

RE: LT tires, or Trailer tires... Whats best ?

Youd be very happy with the bridgestone R250 and save a bit with purchasing 6 or 7 tires. Tread life is a non issue you'll time out before either one is worn out. I have used several of both at work. I would give a slight edge to the michelin as far as strength but I think the bridgestone weathers better. Really a toss up between the 2 go for price. One of my deciding factors was that I do 90% desert on some long rocky roads. Sharp rocks and bushes are sometimes unavoidable so it's worth it for me to spend the extra money on a all steel tire. You can compare weights of tires and you'll see the rib or R250 has a LOT of extra beef ! If I did mostly sand and campgrounds in the summer I might concider the BFG comm. Lot's of people running them with no reported issues that I've heard of. Have bout 10 service trucks running the bfg's hopping curbs daily and no issues to report.

RE: LT tires, or Trailer tires... Whats best ?

Are you sure you have 7k axles? Seems odd the manuf would put on 21k worth of axle for a 13k gvw trailer?

RE: LT tires, or Trailer tires... Whats best ?

I wish I had your problem :B Trailer in my sig measures 39'10" with 3 5200 axles. Came with 225/75/15 d rated goodyears. Fully loaded I'm at about 14.5k on the trailer axles. Changed the stock tires when I bought it in 08 to maxxis 225/75/15 lr e. They lasted 1 1/2 seasons and 5 out of 6 were seperating. About 2 yrs ago I changed rims and tires. Running the 16" bridgestone duravis R250 LR E. Have towed several thousand miles in the last couple years, high temps, mountains and many desert roads. Not a peep out of the bridgestones still look new. I know some think it's a life or death matter to put a tire on thats rated lower than the axle weight. I would gladly trade you my 5200lb axles and run the tires I have now, than be completely maxed out on the entire running gear I have now ;) P.S. Would I post on here it's ok for you to do it... No We both have big heavy trailers. Leave plenty of following distance and make sure all mechanical issues truck and trailer are in perfect working order or get off the road. Safe travels BB

RE: newbie backing in advice

I have found it much easier backing up once I learned to pull further ahead. Can't explain it but takes much less turning of the wheel and less of an angle between truck and trailer. I have more problem with my 10' utility trailer. Funny you mention this. The first time I was backing a 5er in a very tight campground. A fellow walked up to me and said, where ever you stop to start your backing... pull foward another five feet. Worked like a champ and have been doing it ever since.

RE: What axle should my rig have

Seeing as your axles are new, I would replace with 7-8k axles and sell the stock ones to recoupe most of the money. Kind of a do it right the first time and be done with it thing. Would see it the dealer can work something out first as it is new. Seems you have zero reserve capacity now and will be overloaded when loaded up.
