RE: Please wash your hands

I've showed this thread to all my buddies that work in the wastewater industry. We've been laughing hysterically. Keep it going, we've not had this much fun in a long time.

RE: LP Gauge?

If it doesn't have one, get an automatic changeover valve and then when one tank runs out, the other tank automatically takes over. You check the valve occasionally (depending on usage) and fill the empty tank when needed. With this valve, you don't have to worry about running both tanks empty at the same time. Your alternative, is just to open one tank at a time, when your stove/furnace/etc. quits, switch tanks and get the empty tank filled.

RE: Unhook or not

Are you saying the hitch is to hard to get off the ball? There should be an adjusting screw on the underside of the hitch which you can loosen a little to make it come off the ball easier. Yes....I'll take a look. It's up inside the coupler, you'll have to lay on the ground and look right up into where the ball goes and it's on the back side of the latch that engages the underside of the ball. Close the coupler before crawling underneath to see the adjustment on latch.

RE: Question about Additional Insurance

My RV is covered by a separate "RV Insurance" policy. It covers the usual Comprehensive and Collision, as well as things like damage caused by hail, wind, vandalism, theft, fire; and also includes liability for such things as someone tripping over my awning stake or a hot ember from my campfire causing damage, etc.

RE: Question about jacking up trailer

There is a "C" channel plate that mounts the axle to the frame. The frame manufacturer (BAL) on my Jayco said to jack the unit up by putting the jack under that "C" channel plate.

RE: Rig lettering/decorating

If you are planning a trip and know what campgrounds you are wanting to stay in, why not call ahead and ask about how they feel about what you are planning. If any CGs object, you could plan accordingly and reroute. Good luck! BINGO - Correct Answer. And in the process of planning ahead, you may even garner a free night or two of camping as a good will gesture.

RE: Rig lettering/decorating

Yes, some undoubtedly will object to logos etc. on vehicles. Rules are rules, and if you make one exception .... The information you really need (who may object and who will be alright with it), isn't going to be found on this forum.

RE: Hauling Golf Carts & Tailgates

This is my way of thinking: Will it hold a golf cart? Probably. Maybe. Maybe not. Should I take a chance? Two minutes and it's off, another two minutes it's back on. Now the big question. How valuable is your 4 minutes of time as compared to a bent tailgate? Only you can answer that question.

RE: 04 liberty brake rotors

You have to make sure the caliper releases freely after braking. Clean the sliding parts thouroughly so the caliper doesn't stick. Any rust, dirt, etc. will cause the caliper to stick. If it doesn't release freely it will heat the rotor and the rotor will warp. A warped rotor is the number 1 cause of the shaking steering wheel under braking. Number two, don't go through big puddles of water when the rotors are hot, like fast abrupt braking on a freeway (from 60 down to 10) because of ponded water after a big rain storm that you then drive through; that will also warp the rotor. Make sure the front end parts (ball joints, etc.) aren't worn; your problem may not even be the brakes.

RE: 10-corporations-control-almost-everything-you-buy

At least in my case the story is way over-hyped. I looked at the brands represented and in my estimation they would account for less than 2% of the stuff I buy. No fuel, clothing, utilities, mortgage companies, car companies. Don't know about the rest of you, but my groceries sure don't represent "Most Everything I buy". They amount to about 1 or 2% of my take home pay.

RE: Lucky

Yes you were lucky to be able to retire after 40 years of working. Some of us were not so lucky. So of us may have to work 50 or more years. It's not because we are stupid, lazy, didn't plan ahead or any of those other derogatory things people have suggested. It's just the cards we were dealt. Walk a mile ......

RE: Lucky

The one over riding question that comes to my mind is: Why does it bother you? That's the question you need answered. But the only honest answer has to come from you. Answwer that question honestly and you can fix what is really underlying the whole thing.

RE: Our infant world...

You would be in the dark without water (and just about every other modern convenience). Every system in this world, such as power generation and transmission, water treatment works and pumping sytems, waste water treatment works and pumping systems, and every other conceivable type of system, right down to the thermostat in your house, is run on computer chips.

RE: Problems recieving warranty work

You have limited options. You either find a local dealer/service facility to fix it by agreeing to what ever terms they want. Or you take it back to the dealer you bought it from. Local dealers are under no obligation to fix it at no cost to you if you didn't buy it there. They may, as a good will gesture, but they have no obligations to you. Your best option is to keep trying to get service set up through the manufacturer(s), but I fully understand you are getting no results and your time is running out. As I said, your options are limited.

RE: what do you do?

Under no circumstances would I buy or order a camper without checking it out first. If the closest dealer does not have one on the lot, there must be a reason they don't.

RE: Looking for a different towing vehicle...

So you are towing with a 2008 Denali and expect that you can replace it with and adequate tow vehicle and save money. I don't think your expectations are compatible with your reality.

RE: A/C runoff from the roof...how to redirect it.

Raise or lower the nose of the trailer a quarter of a bubble so the water goes to the front or back wichever way you prefer it to go (or more if need be). Nothing bad is going to happen. As long as you keep going for perfectly level, nothing is going to change. You've apparently been there, done that; now it's time to try something different.
