RE: Bone Head Move of the Day

Bought my 03 motorhome 2 years ago. Dealership told me the tires were almost new (I know, I know). Tread looked good. Went for a alignment yesterday and they told me the tires were coded 01. 11 years old! Talk about bone head!!

used motorhome tires

Almost time for new shoes on the coach. Good tread but old enough to replace. I wonder how much the tire shops get on re-selling our old tires to truckers that then put 75k miles on them? Does anyone ever get a trade in value on tires?

RE: HWH air leveling engagement

thanks, I will look for the "re-set switch" referenced in the manual. My HR manual has details of the system but not as specific as the one you referenced.

HWH air leveling engagement

My HWH air leveling system will not engage. The travel light is on but that is all that works. Recently had it in for repairs since no lights were working and the connection to the panel had fallen off. The connection is still connected (I looked) but it will not engage. I most often use the leveling jacks but like to use the air leveling at roadside stops. Any ideas?

RE: Class C to A - thoughts from those that have done this?

Moved up from a TT 2 years ago to a 40' diesel. Have 3 more years to retirement and put maybe 3000 miles a year on the MH till then. Bought what I wanted to retire in and will have it paid off by the time I retire. Get the RV you want first....rather than 3 or 4 RVs later is my moto!

RE: Just Priced New Tires ! OUCH!

In my area the size the OP wants is limited to only Goodyear and Michelin.

RE: Do water regulators increase pressure?

I have not seen a "hidden" water regulator.....but then I haven't really specifically looked for one either. I will explore this later this week as this seems to be a sensible solution. thanks for the idea!

Do water regulators increase pressure?

I have the high dollar water regulator and have adjusted the pressure to several different settings but my water pressure inside the MH remains the same. Are water pressure regulators only to guard against high water pressure or do they also (somehow) increase the pressure in low pressure situations? I have good pressure at the hydrant where I keep the MH but the pressure in the MH is always marginal. (I place the regulator between the hydrant and water hose). Thanks for the help.

RE: dumping air

Michahicks - that was my original question. As I glean the posts it appears if you dump the air and then air level you will level at that height but will only be using the small air tank (rather than the large one) that is designed to keep the coach level, once leveled. So can be done but puts the small air tank into service that was really not designed for. At least that's the way I interpret it....have yet to try it.

RE: dumping air

Dennis - If I follow you, with air leveling it is not feasible to lower the coach as with hydrolic jacks due to the smaller leveling compressor. Correct?

dumping air

With air leveling systems if you dump the air to lower the coach and then engage the air leveling system does it level to the "dump level" or air all the way back up and then level?
My manual says it is best(I assume for maximum air pressure) to have the engine running when air leveling so I know it would come back to full height, but if I don't start the engine what height will it level from?

RE: Hot water heater

FYI-
Replaced the heating element. The old one had lots of crud on it and obviously was shorted out. All is working now....except for the interior on/off light . Guess it shorted out the bulb but that is an easy fix.

RE: Carrying golf cart and towing

I posted my thoughts a couple of days ago and no one acknowledged using the proposed system. I'm still thinking this is the way I will go:
"When I had my truck as a toad I loaded my motorcycle in the truck bed. No longer have the truck but a smaller SUV. Considering a swivel trailer not connected to the motorhome but to the SUV to carry the m/c. My wife needs the toad and I need the m/c! I know there is debate whether or not this is a legal tow but the consensus appears to be it is legal. I would just fit under the legal towing limit with this arrangement (well, at least it is close). Has anyone used the swivel trailer attached to the toad for motorcycle (or golf cart/ATV) transport?"

RE: Hot water heater

Not much of an electrician, no meter.....however I am probably able to replace the element. Would the battery cut off switch by the door cut off electricity to the heater ?

RE: Hot water heater

It's an at wood heater. 50 amp service. All breakers and fuses ok. If the heating element is out would that make the inside water heater light not corm on?

Hot water heater

Hot water heater is 8 years old. Primarily used it on electric. Now the water heater light is off and only cold water. Propane still works and all breakers and fuses are Ok. Any ideas before I call the nobile repair guy?

RE: Trans Temp Gauge

My transmission guage seldom moves. Took it in for service and determined it was working....still barely moved. Later had it replaced since it worried me and still just barley moves if at all. Now I just don't worry about it............much........which is why I read all related topics.......which is why I will probably take it back in to be checked again. thanks for posting
