RE: External Hard Drive 4 Satellite Receiver

as the spec suggests, buying a HDD enclosure would be easiest. Should be able to find one for $20 or less. Then you can put in any SATA drive you want.
The last SATA drive I bought was a 1 terabyte at 7200 rpm. I think at the time it was $80.
A bonus of an enclosure would be if you fill a HDD you can just slide another one in.

RE: used vans in florida?

If your looking to buy after the camping season ends, October may be a little early. Shopping a little farther north might work a bit better. GA, AL, LA.
We do see a lot of RV and boats for sale after the season ends here in AL.

RE: GM's new 2013 tow ratings

i wonder if the weight police will be disappointed with the small drop in tow rating on GM vehicles. Personally about what i guessed, most configurations have very little change.
Why would the "weight police" be disappointed with the small drop in tow ratings. Your comment makes no sense. The, as you say, "weight police" usually harp about trying to keep weights under a trucks GVWR, which allows less than the RAWR, this just reinforces the fact that there is actually less "leeway" than once thought by those who think you can tow any weight with any truck. Thus, the "new" towing weight adjustments just reinforces the reason to try to stay closer to one's GVWR instead of RAWR to allow some for "margin of error" when equating how much one's truck should be able to tow....safely and efficiently..
just my thoughts and not worth much coming from a so called "weight police":R
The SAE standards was what can be hammered out in a committee that is dominated by the vehicle manufactures.
Everyone on the committee (for those who ever sat on one) know the job of the corporate rep is to make sure the standard do not materially undermine what the firm is presently doing, and ideally, is biased against competitors, especially those who are weak on the committee or have poor representation.
The real thing to watch is to see how the standard evolves over time, as more "opps" are discovered and patches found.
What is fun to know what is not in it when it should have been.
Nothing said about maximum speed, handling issues.
Nothing said about duty cycle.
Nothing said about operator skill (e.g. age, reflexes, etc.)
If you want to know what is in the standard read this article.
standard explained
And yes they address, acceleration and handling, as well as cooling.

RE: GM's new 2013 tow ratings

Wouldn't it be nice if someone went back and applied the SAE J2807 standard to previous year models. Say someone that publishes towing guides.
Might have an interesting effect on the used truck market.
BTW did i read that right, 1-tons really can handle bigger 5ers?

RE: A/C freezing up

Most common problem is inadequate air flow. Clean the filter, check for obstructions, run fan on high.
x2. Especially if it is a Dometic Brisk Air. There is a note in the manual about freezing up when using low fan.

RE: Air conditioning shroud broke.

It's not going to leak into the trailer. The rain will go in the cowl and out the drain holes in the A/C base.
SO where is the hole, top, bototm, side? A bigger concern would be air entering the hole while driving.
As for where to buy, if you get a good deal online great, but watch shipping as they are bulky.
P.S. go ahead and fill out your sig so people know what type of rig your asking about. Even this time let us know what A/C unit you have.

RE: Memory Foam Topper for the kids

We actually found a good queen size at walmart. and cut it down for our bunks. There was even enough left over to glue a filler on the bototm to take up the excess space at the end of our matresses.
Our matresses were 6 inches shorter than the bunks.
As for cutting an electric carving knife will make quick work of it.
I laid it down marked it with a 2x4 as a stragiht edge and took the carving knife to it.
My issue with the linked item is it is eggcrate style. So they call it 4 inches but it really is not.

RE: Progressive Dynamics 4655 Converter ?s Updated

I had the same problem with mine, so I contacted Power Dynamics and was told this was normal for around 24-48 hours after install. Depending on battery state.
When I asked why the owners manual was different I was told it had never been updated.
After around 24 hours mine started to work normally.

RE: 5th wheel pivot point?

You didn't mention if you had a slider type hitch, and if so were you moving it back to the "manuvering" position. This can move the pivot point aft of the axle.

RE: Good Plexiglass glue?

The weld-on 4 has a good reputation but is a bit pricey. but then so are boat windshields. I had to build one from scratch for my center console.
Don't know if it would work on something as big as a windshield, but my daughter makes jewelry with acrylic pieces using acetone and a syringe.

RE: Are they BS'ing me?

My slide seals all the way around. when opening the top hits first then the bottom. Reverse on closing. Which i believe is consistent with the flush slide floor design.
Since the slide roof was built with a slope, i don't see why the slide would need to tilt.
tend to agree with the OP's assessment of Coachmen QC. We looked at a couple. One was quite nice, the next had bathroom door that scraped the ceiling.

RE: School me on blue totes please / waste and fresh water

This is what I use for water containers.
Some like the square ones.
I prefer the solid plastic ones over the collapsible or the ones that squish down as we have never been able to find a version of them that holds up for our use.
Shopping around will yeild the best prices...
How do you connect them to teh tank drain?
You don't! He asked two questions, I was answering the one about the water cans. :)
apparently my sense of humor escaped you.

RE: School me on blue totes please / waste and fresh water

Really hard to imagine that much black tank fluid unless as wildtoad mentioned the sink is also going in there.
Our 3 tank setup has shower and sink to grey, toilet to balck and kitchen sink to galley. Our family of 4 can go over a week wihtout filling the black tank.
While not likely, have you checked the cover over your tank vents? Could rain have been going into the tank?
