RE: Silicone bakeware

Not a fan. I've had muffin pans and loaf pans for several years and used them off and on thinking I would eventually like them. As said before, they are hard to clean-any oil used in the ingredients is hard to remove from the pan and you have to support them with a pan or cookie sheet under them.

Home A/C setting

What air conditioning temperature setting for a home in middle Tennessee that will be left vacant from mid May thru September do you folks recommend? We will be in the New England area during this time. Will have someone checking and maintaining the property but just wondering what the A/C temperature should be set at?
Thanks in advance.

RE: I81 in Va and Pa

We always go I81 to I84 from Tenn. to New England every summer (Class A towing Saturn Vue). We've never had any problems other than as mentioned about the big rig traffic thru Wilkes Barre Scranton area.

RE: vent pipe covers

Regular pvc pipe caps (covers) from Lowes or HD will not work. These pipes are vents for your black and gray tanks. This is what you need. RV vent pipe covers

RE: Conditions in Branson After Storms?

Branson Live on their Facebook page had several videos of some of the damage. The host was the President of the Chamber of Commerce. He was encouraging tourists planning to visit to continue with their plans and indicated there was very little of the businesses that were closed.

RE: side aisle motor homes

We have a gas Bounder 36Z with a side aisle. I saw one years ago at an RV show before we even got into camping and really liked it. In 2008 we decided to upgrade from a TT to a MH and ran across the 36Z. We like it, especially when we have our daughter and son in law overnight. We're not trapped in the bedroom while someone is in the bathroom. The stall shower in the MH is actually larger than the one in our stick home. Our previous TT had a walk-thru bathroom and it was inconvenient with overnight guests.

RE: morgans rv resorts

We stayed at the Morgan RV Resort ( NASCAR PARK ) in Luray VA last year. We enjoyed it and it was a nice place... I beleive we recieved 3 free nights of camping for staying there 3 nights... We did not get a chance to use them....Joe
This park is actually in New Market, Va and Morgan took a ratty rundown park that nobody used and rebuilt it, added a couple hundred sites, a nice rec hall, pool, pond, etc. Pretty nice CG...not cheap but nice sites.
We also stayed at the New Market VA RV Resort several times-two to three nights each. We enjoyed our stays. The sites at this particular park are nicely spaced, so you're not right on top of the other sites. It was clean and quiet. We liked the nearby town and the tour of the caverns. By the way-if possible, don't give them your phone number as they do have an obnoxious recorded promotional message calling at least once a week, for months after you've stayed with them.

RE: Questions about my Advantium micro/oven

Can you take the turntable mechanism out of the microwave? I think that's what I did to use my oblong pans.

RE: Plexi glass in bottom of screen door

We picked up a screen door guard at Lowes/Home Depot for around ten bucks and screwed it into the screen door. It allows air for the 17 lb coon cat that sits there all day watching the chipmunks in the campground. The guard is black-matches the screen door and you don't even notice that it's there. I'm also glad I don't have to clean off nose prints on plexiglass.

RE: Anyone have opinion on CB radio?

We've had one that's probably ten years old. We turn it on occasionally for entertainment, but it has come in handy during traffic tie-ups to see what's going on. The truckers give you an idea how long to expect delays, what lanes are blocked, etc.

According to this Clicky you can, but you still should check your Owners Manual for recreational towing.

RE: Do you have a really good biscuit recipe?

I like this recipe-I think the cream of tartar makes them fluffy. As said before, don't mix them too long as that will make them tough:
2 cups flour, 4 teas. baking powder, 1/2 teas. salt, 1/2 teas. cream of tartar, 2 teas. sugar, 1/2 c. shortening and 2/3 c. milk. Mix all dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until coarse crumbs, make a well and add milk all at once. Stir quickly with fork just until dough follows fork around bowl. Turn onto floured surface and knead gently 10-12 times. Roll out or pat to 1/2 inch thick, then cut with biscuit cutter. Bake 450F for about 10-12 minutes.

RE: Boring old oatmeal

Saw this one today-haven't tried it, but thought it sounded good:
Pumpkin Pecan Oatmeal
2 cups water
1 cup canned pumpkin puree
1 cup oats
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup toasted pecans
1/4 cup Greek yogurt
milk, if desired
In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil over medium heat. Add the pumpkin, oats, pumpkin pie spice, brown sugar, vanilla and salt, and stir to combine. Return to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 4-5 minutes.
Spoon into bowls and top with the Greek yogurt and toasted pecans. Add milk, too, if desired.
Yields about 3 servings.
