RE: We need a new Head Hog

I went to scout.com and not one recruit was listed for Arkansas! When I saw zero recruits, I assumed that they all changed their mind. I have nothing against Arkansas at all and feel bad for the school and for coach Petrino. Like many other head coaches, he made a big mistake and those kind of mistakes have unwanted effects! Bags...PS: Also NO recruits for Arkansas at rivals.com for the 2013 season.

RE: We need a new Head Hog

The new coach at Arkansas for the next year is John L. Smith. All I can say about John L. Smith is that he was NOT successful at Michigan State Univ. Every single recruit that Petrino had coming to Arkansas has decommited and now going to another team. His poor judgement has not only hurt his reputation, but is going to set back Arkansas for the next several years! Unfortunately! Bags.

RE: We need a new Head Hog

Just a bad situation over there in Arkansas! However, he is an excellent football coach. The embarassment and humilation is punishment more than anything the University can dish out! He made a huge mistake and will pay a certain price, just like Jim Tressel. Bags.

RE: NCAA Record - 4 teams/1 state - Sweet 16

Jim, in all intents and purpose, student athletes at big time Universities are Professional Athletes that don't get paid till they are drafted into the NBA, NFL, or MLB! And that is why they leave college before getting their college degrees. I expect OSU's Jared Sullinger (Soph) & Dushaun Thomas (soph) to go into the next NBA draft! However, I do have the utmost respect for those that wait till they have that sheepskin/degree. Bags.

NCAA Record - 4 teams/1 state - Sweet 16

Doing some browsing yesterday and in this year's March Madness NCAA Basketball Tournment, the State of Ohio has Four (4) teams in the Sweet 16. They are: Cincinnati, Ohio University, Ohio State University, & Xavier University. Believe it or not, some folks get Ohio U. and Ohio State confused! OSU's next opponent is the U. of Cincinnati. Bags.

Great Q & A Session With Coach Urban Meyer!

You can view it at: buckeyextra.com. All I can say is that the OSU "Buckeyes" are going to be a lean mean gang of college football Gladiators! Never been more excited about an upcomming college football season! Bags... Also, you can try: columbusdispatch.com, then click on sports, and then Ohio State sports! I honestly feel that Coach Meyer was the best coach for head coach at Ohio State and the pride and glory is coming back licktly split!

RE: Big 10 Meets SEC Recruiting!

Well, the truth of the matter is, college football is seriously big time in the SEC. Just look at the head coaches in the SEC, especially at South Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, and Missouri, they are all big name coaches. Furthermore, the state of Florida has a wealth of high school football talent as does other southern states. As far as here up north, Ohio comes in 5th. nationally for local football talent. That is why any reasonably good coach at Ohio State who can keep most of the blue chippers to stay home in Columbus, will have a pretty good team. What intrigues me about Urban Meyer is that not only is he a "Buckeye" in his heart and sole, he has tremendous high school connections in Florida. Furthermore, he has shown the ability to bring is blue chip recruits this year from Illinois, Indiana, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Therefore, if Urban Meyer can bring a little SEC flavor and style to Columbus, I'm happy. Wouldn't it be something if Nick Saban, Les Miles, Petrino, and the coach Gary Pinkel from Missouri decided to come home (back here) and coach in the Big Ten? Bags.

Big 10 Meets SEC Recruiting!

Two Big Ten coaches are unhappy with Ohio State's Urban Meyer's aggressive style of recruiting! Brett Bielema of Wisconsin and Mark Dantonio have voiced their displeasure. However, Urban Meyer feels any recruit that is interested in Ohio State and hasn't signed a "letter of intent", is fair game Even Wisconsin's A.D. Mr. Barry Alveraz agrees with Meyer as does Michigan's coach Brady Hoke. Meyer flipped a blue chip OT from Wisc. and a blue chip DE from MSU. Meyer flipped (5) PSU Blue Chippers! But, both of these recruits are from Ohio and were very interested in playing for OSU. OHIO State's 2012 recruiting class is currently ranked #3 by scout.com and #4 by rivals.com. The NCAA sanctions for (3) years and the one year bowl loss (2012) had little effect on this current recruiting class. Very much looking forward to seeing my beloved "Buckeyes" kick some Big 10 backside this coming fall, especially on Nov. 24th. Urban Meyer was the perfect coach to replace Tressel/Fickel. Bags. ......Just wanted to add: Bielema took Wisc. to the Rose Bowl this year, but was only able to recruit/sign (12) H.S. football players. I think he needs to learn how to recruit better! Meyer got 25.

RE: Favorite Football Team

Trish, my best game my senior year was against Mingo Jct. Ran the ball for 203 yards, 4 TD's, and was featured in the Wheeling paper as the
OVAC player of the week. That was in 1966. Reno from Steub. Central and myself from Toronto, Ohio made all the All-Star teams together as linebackers. My aunt used to own the Target Sport Shop on Market Street in Steubenville, Oh. Bags.

RE: Favorite Football Team

Trish, you must be from my original neck of the woods, Steubenville, Ohio, because football is life in the upper Ohio Valley and Pittsburgh is 1/2 hour away from Steubenville and it used to take an hour of driving for my dad & I to watch the Canton "Bull Dogs" semi-pro football team. I'm a big PITT fan, Steeler fan, and The Ohio State "Buckeyes!" Under coach Reno S. The Steubenville "Big Red" are good every year, especially in "Death Valley!" Am I pretty close? Bags.
