RE: Recalculating

RetiredBob's solution is so easy, surprised more don't use it.
For those Garmin users that don't know about it here is the direct link to the voice editor (not the extra POI editor)....Click here.

RE: which tire

Tried Goodyear LRD, Maxxis LRD and LRE's, and Greenball LRE's on my 10K lb fiver with not much success.
Moved to LT's (Commercial TA's) and keeping my finger's crossed.
Good luck.

RE: Inexpensive bed saver

I wonder if other hitch manufacturers will follow. After all, the install does require a modification to the OEM's product.

RE: Rv ladder

I am 210 lb.and feel very safe on mine.
You sure don't look like a 210 pounder in your sig pic :W
I at 207 also have no problems with my ladder as it's very stable.

RE: How do I connect portable grill to 5ver's LPG tanks?

Used one of THESE for years on my 30's and never had a problem. Essentially it's just a splitter. One side to the trailer, one to the grill.
Oddly enough I found it too much of a hassle and bought a tank similar to THIS. But apparently that wouldn't work either because is not a 20 lb'er :h

RE: Secure Storage

After just getting new two year tags the month before, I had the license plate taken off my trailer while in secure storage. When they took the plate they broke the tabs of the bottom of the tail light.
I designed a sheet metal bracket with 1/4" press fit threaded studs. Attached that to the trailer and use wing nuts to keep in place while traveling. When stationary it easily comes off.

I can only tell you that our 05 29RKS has been great. A few minor issues but over all a good value.

RE: Hitting the 5th wheel hard hooking up.

The only time I tend to "slam" mine is when backing up a steep incline. Hard to give it enough juice to get up the hill and immediately stop after connection.

RE: What do you use to level your RV?

Hoppy levelers. One on the rear of the pinbox and one on the inside side.

Rock Tamers will do the trick. Pricey but worth it.

More rat traps? Seems to be working so far.

RE: Maxxis tires

Sounds like a lot of bull to me. You never read about any Maxxis concerns on this site. B.O.
Not exactly true as I've posted this here before. I had two Maxxis tires experience sidewall separation within miles of each other. These were LRE's on a 10K lb fiver. Dealer replaced all 4 tires under warranty because the other two looked like they were going the same direction.
While I choose not to badmouth Maxxis because of the reputation they have here, they are far from perfect.

RE: 65 MPH, awning deployed like a parachute!!!

The point is strapping the awning arms will not prevent the issue. The only way to do it is to lock the tube. I was not endorsing any particular product, just the concept.

RE: 65 MPH, awning deployed like a parachute!!!

The ones that pin the roller or the ends don't help much if the wind gets into the awning and makes a parachute at highway speeds.
:h
Don't understand how the awning can parachute if the roller doesn't turn?

RE: 65 MPH, awning deployed like a parachute!!!

Another possibility is the roller lock broke and allowed the tube to free spin deploying the awning. Strapping the arms with Velcro wouldn't have prevented the outcome but an awning roller lock would have (something like THIS).
