RE: Florida

I just made reservations for the last 2 weeks of April at Fort Pickens in the National Seashore. The best beaches and excellent family type of camping. Be sure to go to the NAS and take in a Blue Angels show if they are there. We are there at least once a year. Try to stay in "A" loop.
A very good suggestion and keeps you from driving another 900 miles to the keys.
I agree. Ft Pickens is one of my favorite Florida parks. The beaches are sugar-white fine sand. And the water there might be warm enough for you, depends on how cold natured you are. My kids have swum many times in the Gulf during the month of April
We are from WI so we are a little cold blooded, Or maybe just cold. lol.
Still reading info here. Hope to decide later this week.
Thanks

RE: KOA Townsend, TN

Be sure to do the Cade's cove run inside the Natl Park. Kids will like that... Stop at the horses when you first start the loop drive. Go late afternoon before dusk is best time.
Once a week, I think Wednesday morning, they close the road to autos and you can bike it. Really nice bike ride if your into that.

RE: Florida

Yes, we would do Alabama. Just anywhere where it is warm.
I guess a pool would be fine if the kids want to swim a little. A beach though would be a priorty.
Would like to go to more southern Florida, if it is warmer, but am just looking to save some drive time as we are doing all this in 10 days.

Florida

We would like to camp in Florida next month. we have never been here. Kinda a last minute idea.
Not even sure if openings are available at the better cg's.
We just want to be warm and on or very near a beach.
My concerns are if the water is warm enough to go in or not. Also Gulf side or Ocean side?
We went to Myrtle Beach last year and stayed at Ocean Lakes and really enjoyed it.
Would like to find something similar if possible.
I have done some searching and searched this site but am a little lost.
Hoping some of you can point us in the right direction.
Our main objective is to hang out on the beach. Will have two of our kids along.
We will have 4 days to stay. Coming from Wisconsin. Then, going to Indiana for a soccer tournament the second weekend.
This is Easter weekend that we would be arriving in Florida.
Thanks,

Carmel Indiana anyone???

Wondering if anyone is going to Carmel Indiana for the boys soccer tournament in April. 13th - 15th.???
We are going and probably will stay at Indy KOA. Not sure yet. Have not found much camping closer to the fields.
Any info would be great. Be fun to stay with others there too.
In the past, a good portion of the team would come back to our campsite and hang out. Have supper, etc. Much better than the hotel.

RE: Ocean Lakes Family Campground

Ocean Lakes is awesome in my opinion. I will bring or rent a golf cart next time we go. We just had bikes last time and too large to bike around, plus drunks on carts get too close to bikes.
Can't wait to go back though.

RE: Wineguard Carryout vs DISH Tailgater

We have a carryout. No HD. With direct TV. Should be no big deal except we watch HD every day at home. So this picture is poor.
My only real complaint on the winegard unit.

RE: Mount Rushmore in July

Rafter j is nice. We have stayed at mt Rushmore koa in hill city. It is nice. We were not real impressed in crazy horse but my Rushmore was real nice. Custer state park was probably our favorite with the needles highway.
We are stopping back this July and will do the 1800 train.
Just love south Dakota.

RE: Dryer vent

Nice chrome vent came with our spendide unit. Drilled a pilot hole from the inside and then a four inch hole from the outside. Was very clean and worked our well. Don't forget to caulk.

RE: First time in Gatlinburg!

We stayed at Smoky Bear Campground last summer. Between Cosby and Gatlinburg. Smaller cg but very nice and well run. Full hook up drive through sites.
We spent most of our time in the park, but Gatlinburg has tons of money pits, I mean shops, and they are very nice. Make sure you stop at Moonshine Holler and sample some. Have an ID with you or they won't let you no matter how old you are.
We spent one day walking around, went to the aquarium, Sat in the General Lee car, you know, the important things.
In Pigeon Forge, you can see many more shops and Dollyworld. Pretty cool area. and of coarse Walmart in Severville. Can't forget that. lol

RE: Need to move 5'er - Southern, NH

We were in the same situation last fall. Had my truck sold and the camper at the dealer. Our dealer is two hours away. Dealer set up a transporter to drop it in my yard for a partial haul back. Cost me $200.00.
Was well worth it.
I'm sure it would be much less to go ten minutes. Ask your dealer when they are expecting a camper.

RE: Water Softener?

I doubt they actually do much for bacteria, but I am not an expert in this.
I do know we bought on for our last fiver and when we got this new one last year, I bought a new one for it before we even used it once.
I am a big fan of a water softner. Especially when I'm living in this thing for work for a couple of weeks at a time. We also do laundry in our fiver and it cleans much better. Dishes much easier to clean and of coarse showers are nice.
Easy to regenerate too. I have a couple of short hoses set up so all I do is turn a couple of valves.

Carmel Indiana

We are going here for a soccer tournament in April.
Checked for camping and there is a few but all seem 1/2 hour or more away from the soccer complex.
It is a little West of Carmel.
Is there maybe some I didn't see that some of you may know about?
I just checked the Woodalls site. Glowood, KOA, both 35 minutes away or the State Fair park in Indy??? Not sure how that would be.
Any more??

RE: Open Range Hitch Question.

You probably can get by with a fixed hitch. The corners on open range are angled back.
I did just order a slider for our new truck. Maybe never need it but I'd rather be safe. Wasn't much more anyway.

RE: where in the @#$%^ is our Phone Jack?????

Not to sound mean, but even my elderly grandmother got rid of her landline this year. She uses her cell phone only like most do now. We have a 2011 fiver with no phone jack.

RE: 5th wheel hitch installation

The OP is inquiring about a fifth wheel hitch, not a goose neck hitch. :)
I had mine installed where I bought it. It was worth it. :)
The b+w goose neck is required to use their companion fifth wheel hitch.
We have that and I had the dealer install it in my last truck.
I just ordered a Reese slider for our new truck. I'm going to install this myself.

RE: 6.4l

Almost bought a 2010. Really liked the truck. Our local diesel shop told me they could help make the dpf fall off too. And ad a programmer to fix that and get much better fuel mileage.
I was going to get it for sure but stumbled on the 2011 we ended up with. The 6.7 seems real nice. I know I would have liked the 6.4 as well.
