Ever ring your bell on your pinbox?

One of the kids did it this year, ran around the fifth wheel and WAM! Hit his head right on the pin box. Before I park the camper for the winter and forget to post this i think I found a solution. Im going to get a tire tube and put around it when its not hitched up to the TV. Does anyone use something a little better, thats all I could think of.

RE: Trail Air Pin box Trade in or sell

I didnt see any on craigslist or ebay but I guess I can fight it off and let it hold down my garage floor if nothing else for a while,I just remember how heavy it was to put on.

RE: Brake problems on 5'er

I put up with the same problem for a year. I took it to a shop and they couldnt find anything wrong. i finally noticed that it only happened when my Fresh water tank had been filled. I replaced the plugand finally pulled down the driversides underskirting of the camper from the front of the camper to the rear axle and found the brake wire was grounding out on the campers frame when the fresh water tanks fill hose would have water come up and slosh in it. I spliced new wire and anywhere the frame or a cross member looked like it may come in contact with the brake wires I cut a piece of hose and zip tied it to the frame so I never have to pull that underskirting off again. Start at your plug first and check the contacts for corrosion, if thats not it then disconect one wheel or axle at a time to see if the problem stops then,if not you now where your problem lies. Good luck

RE: Adding trailer hitch to 5er

The latest pics look great, Im no welder but the way it was before I would be worried about it. The rear of these campers bounce so bad because the axles are so far forward. Id say that should hold a bike rack with no problems. Just as a precaution I would still check the welds every once in a while for chiped paint or hair line cracks. Happy Travels

RE: Rubber roof conditioner and cleaner ???

I called Gulfstream and asked them 2 years ago, they said not to use anything more than Dawn dishsoap as the other cleaners could have a petroleum base that would make the roof shrink and break down the rubber. It never looks clean and I scrub my tail off up there.

Trail Air Pin box Trade in or sell

We are talking about trading in our Gulfstream Canyon Trail on a Toyhauler. The dealer said he cant give me anymore on my trade with the Trail Air and said I can take it off if I want to sell it if I put my original back on.Are these not hot items anymore or am I just waisting my time? I already feel like hes lowballing me but he offered me more than the other dealer in the area for our camper. I would put it on the other camper but it already has one.

RE: Suggestions on Florida Gulf Coast RV park

You cant go wrong with Topsail Hill Preserve. Each site is landscaped with cable tv and a sprinkler system, great beach to, take a little wagon on the tram to haul your gear to the beach over the boardwalk. We always take a cooler, chairs and unbrella. The 100s loop of sites are the best but they are all nice.

RE: Mitchell South Dakota/ Via Yellowstone trip from St. Louis

Can anyone recomend a place to stay in Rapid City? I planned on being at Rushmore on my birthday and want to see Custer park so we will need to drop the 5ver off for a night. Also we are going the later part of July. My son wants to see Devil Tower also, Im planning on staying 2 nights at Ponderosa in Cody WY to see the Rodeo, museum, and drive up to Bear Tooth Pass. We will only have 4 nights in Fishing Bridge, thats all they had left for our stay and I booked it a month ago.

Mitchell South Dakota/ Via Yellowstone trip from St. Louis

Im planning a 2 week vacation to Yellowstone from St Louis Mo. area. The night we leave we are gonna push for St. Joe Missouri. Saturday we are going to head up to Mitchell SD and stay in Cabelas lot. Sunday I was wanting to take my family to Wahl drug and possibly the corn palace, can I do both in a days time and still make it to Rapid city SD by bed time. I was also wondering if Wahl drug had parking for our 33' 5th wheel and truck.

RE: What tires for my kind of pulling. Crew cab F350 diesel

My cooper atr I've got 40000 on them and they were done 5000 miles ago. I might give the Michelins a try. They just don't seem to have a good atr tire. Most of the time I drive highway miles but do go to the farm with the camper behind me. If anyone seen the slop I have to drive threw to get it on the backside of the farm they would call me crazy. I probably should have a mud tire but can't stand a lot of road noise.

RE: What tires for my kind of pulling. Crew cab F350 diesel

Thanks for your reply Fred, Good Years Duratrac is one of the tires Im looking into besides the michelins, my problem with Michelin is they have so many new ones out I dont know which set is right for me. The Duratrac is a 10 ply tire so that sounds like a good wearing tire. I dont care if I have to pay a little more for tires, Im just looking for a longer lasting, safe for my family tire. Im hoping for more F350 owners to comment on whats wearing good on thier pickups.

I just looked at new 5ver floor plans, wife had ESP.

I dont know if its time yet, but me and my dear wife are in tune for a possible new 5ver. Its been 6 years, I dont know why I started looking last night at new floor plans but today in a discussion about new tires for the TV. She out of the blue said she would like to go to a show, its time for a new 5ver. What the heck? Did we share a dream last night?

RE: Tires

If you havnt got tires yet, I have Coopers I believe they are Lt235/75/16s. They are E rated LT tires on my camper and are wearing very well. Theyd been better had I rotated them like I should. the inside of the rear axle are worn from jack knifing the camper in. Im on my 6th year with them and weve covered alot of ground. Good luck, Also remember going down too much on a tire size will make your camper nose high and take away from your trailer bed clearance. You probably wont even be able to tell but its food for thought.

What tires for my kind of pulling. Crew cab F350 diesel

Its tire time again, I need thoughts, opinions, and FACTS for some new tires. The truck has 80,000 miles on it, I got 40,000 out of my factory Continental and the same on my Cooper. I like the cooper tires on my 5th wheel camper, but the ATRs didnt wear so well on my truck. I pull 10000 plus on highway mostly but need to lock in 4X4 at the farm when pulling the camper in. My truck is a SRW 2006 F350 Crew cab Long bed Diesel with the not too many choices 275/70/18".
