RE: Seeking suggestions for Southern Colorado...

We like Durango, you should have no issues finding an RV park( United CG, Durango Riverside Resort, Alpine Rose CG all have full hook up and you should be able to fit). Durango is an easy drive to Mesa Verde, Pagosa Springs, Silverton and Ouray. We are mainly hiking or other outside activities but there is plenty to do in town just walking around. We want to do the Durango Silverton Rail Road but just have not got around to it yet. Durango is one of my favorite places to visit. Colorado Springs is a close second there is a lot to do in that area only been there once but cannot wait to go back.

RE: Keystone Passport Owners

No groups that I know of for Passport owners only. We were in a group in ohio but it was not limited to anything specific, just had to enjoy camping. We have not figured out where we are going yet this summer, maybe back to Ohio or up to Wyoming, maybe both. Lots of weekend trips to Colorado.

RE: Camping with horses...

If you are going through Cincinnati, East Fork State Park, has a camping area that allows horses.

RE: Camping World NEVER again (denver)

Not saying that the job took too long but things do come up, sounds like it did but as said things happen. it is for this very reason that when I need some service work done and know about it I try to schedule a day to have it done, for example with an oil change in my vehicle I drop it off at the ford dealer have my wife or friend pick me up and then tell them to call me when its done get a call a few hours later no stress on my end.(I know extreme). That way I am not sitting around the shop all day long. Not to say that camping world is free and clear of any and all blame but it seems to me that the headache and issues the OP has could have been avoided. I say that as it does not sound like this was an issue that happened while traveling rather an item that was scheduled in advance.
Not saying either one is right or wrong just saying...

RE: Bike Rack

Thanks for the replies. I think I will have to make some calls to see if I can find a welder.
Also noticed a bike rack that fits on the A frame but worried that will mess up the hitch weights as it will sit above the propane tanks
Thanks for the responses.

RE: Sewer hookup question

I do open the valve for the gray tank when my DW or myself take a shower. I know its probably not an issue but worried it will start to back up into the shower about half way through. But other then that I will keep the valves closed. Black tank I generally wait until I can see the water backing up when I flush the toilet. I always try to flush the gray tank last to clean the hose out of any back tank stuff. I gave up on the gauges that mine came with about a year ago. My black tank gauge says it is 3/4 full.

RE: Rest areas on I-10 between El Paso & Ft. Stockton

While it was not a rest area we stayed at the Walmart in Ft Stockton about a year ago. I cannot remember any rest areas but it was dark and a year ago.

Bike Rack

Is it safe to put a bike trailer on the back of the TT. I am not looking to have it clamped onto the back bumper, dont trust that option. More looking to contacting a welder and having them weld a hitch set up to the frame of the TT in the back as the bike rack we have is a hitch mounted one.
Thanks

RE: Cincinnati to Black Hills S.D

When we lived in Cincy we took the same route that donn0128 suggested I forget where we stayed first night, it was an in and out as we were trying to make time. Rafter J looked nice but we stayed at Horsethief CG, it was close to everything and we had no issues. Sioux Falls SD has a neat waterfall area that we stopped at and walked around for a while, kids liked it. Stopped at the Corn Palace, Wall Drug, Badlands. Corn Palace and Wall Drug our tourist trap stuff but we thought they were neat and the kids liked them.

RE: Non Smoking Campground areas

I do not think you will find a non smoking cg. If I was in your spot I would go over and say something to the guy, nicely of course, no need to be rude on your end. Perhaps he is a reasonable person and will move to somewhere that the smoke does not go in your site/rig. Perhaps he will just go for a walk and bother the whole cg with his smoke. If he does not you always have the option to move.

RE: Towing a 33 ft Travel Trailer

We went from a popup to a 33ft TT bumper to tongue and really had no issues. I have been in high winds, snow and rain. We have Equalizer hitch. If its set up properly it works great. There are times I even forget that the TT is back there

RE: Cooler or travel with fridge on?

Depends, most times I fill up the fridge and travel with it off, it keeps most things cold enough for a 2-3 hours. However if its a long drive will travel with it on propane. I do shut if off at the gas station.

RE: Someone comes knocking at night while stealth camping.

If its the police or security I would say answer the door. There may be a very good reason as to why they are knocking. Besides as state you do not want to get towed.
I still feel its always the right thing to do to ask first esp if the buisness or whatever establishment you choose to park in is open.

RE: Weight Restrictions on Keystone Passport Roof

I doubt I would walk on mine unless I had to. When I do maintenance on it I generally try to lay down and do it so my weight is spread out.
I think I remember the dealer telling me that it is not designed to walk on.

RE: Need help looking for new camper that can fit 4 kids

you may be looking at a hybrid unless you upgrade your tow vehicle. Our kids are under 6 and we have 4 kids, I think the pop up would still work for us. We upgraded so we could camp in the winter, just to cold with a popup for us at least and I will say the TT is eaiser with 4 kids, esp since they each have their own bed.
I think the weight of the TT or hybrid is going to be your biggest issue.

RE: Trailer Security

I would say find a good storage place. I have never had any issues where we store our TT. It has 6ft high fence manager lives on site, cameras all over the place along with lights, I have 24 hour access, clean water, dump and air if needed. It is also located next to a police station and police recruitment center on the other side so police are always around.
I have never had any issues and do not know of anyone else who has, I always talk with the manager when I see him so he knows who I am and have a good relationship with him (not sure if it helps but cannot hurt at least he knows me and my TT). Its also one of the cheaper places in town.
That being said if a theif really wants something they are probably going to get it or at least make the attempt.

RE: Where to go first trip - from Ohio

I think that after a few trips of a few hours away you may be fine to drive a longer distance (may not be but might). A couple of place to think about that would not be that far away are 2 hours or so give or take:
East Fork State Park - East of Cincinnati
Maumee Bay State Park - up by Toledo
Hocking Hills area in South East Ohio near Logan OH
Mochican and amish country in Ohio
Brown County St Park in Indian (friend of mine recomends)
I would suggest for your first night either stay in it in the driveway and try everything out or go to a nearby RV park for the night so you can try everything.
Full hookups may be an issue at some state parks.
