RE: FUN GROUP Pow Wow @ California Hot Springs May 25- 28, 2012

I hope for just about the same weather this year, but we should all pack snow shoes just in case! That area had some beautiful roads for the bike, so a little warmer wouldnt be a bad thing. Leaving Friday, Saturday, Sunday, return Monday, will be so much more relaxing in the MH on the drive, but i'll still be towing the moto. I still disagree with Ray that the frame and axles can't support it, even tho his data is accurate and he's right :B All i've read says its just better to tow a bigger bike like an ultra classic :( but i SO don't want to tow!

RE: New to Class C Electrical Questions

Tom, thanks for spending the time with that response, that makes sense! 12.8 was the disconnected "discharging" voltage, i like how you stated that. A Manual? Is that supposed to be read? :)

New to Class C Electrical Questions

Hi everyone! We just picked up a Sunseeker 2250LE on a Chevy 4500. We are doing the shakedown this weekend. I'm new to having a generator and had a few questions on the house?? and engine?? battery systems. I will be putting at least 180W solar on it, but might be a month out. 1. Can I charge the house battery when its plugged into the generator bypass? I put my charger on the terminals while plugged in and had an odd charge reading of 50%, but had 12.8v accoring to MM. Should I disconnect battery completely to charge? (might be basic electrical i just failed) 2. All i have now is a 3 light indicator on my control panel for battery condition, and a 4th stating if its charging. I guess looking at that might answer this question, but is the house battery getting charged while engine running or only when generator running? (I know it does when on shore power) 3. I see that its a chassis ground, not a common ground like the TT, that changes my solar panel cabling i think, where i'll need to run one wire to the chassis and one back to the positive (hopefully Pianotuna will jump in on this one). I assume this might be basic automotive wiring too, but bear with me on my basicness, ill smerten up soon i promise. 4. Do i just keep looking at the control panel indicators and then when low turn on the generator? How longs a good time to run it? Should I run it every so often anyway? I know it will change with amount of usage, but just thinking of an overnight dry camping. Thanks for any help and tips! Summers a comin! EDIT: Just found some cool stuff in the Class C FAQ, thanks HiTech for assembling that. I'm sure as I go on the trips alot of this will answer itself aswell.

RE: Anaheim, Ca. Rally April 13-15, 2012

Excited now to get out there, we are gonna do our shakedown this weekend with the new MH, starting to fill out the inside a bit with gear. I am still trying to figure out how best to attach the motorcycle, seems i'll need to beef up the rear hitch before doing a hitch lift. Does anyone know of any enclosed trailers for sale, 5'x10' minimum, in the SoCal area? Maybe one I can rent for a bit until I get the hitch lift? I'm eyeing craigslist, but only seeing the brand new ones in fillmore. See ya soon!

RE: Cab-over bed and weight, any issues?

Great job with your site Jerry n Cynthia! I've been following you since you were in a TT, and alas, we have now too moved from a TT to a Class C! (not because of you specifically unfortunately, but you have always helped with your information!). I look forward to rereading your site to see what you've learned with your C. (thats all, nothing pertinent to your post) Catch you on the road! p.s. did you start that RVNumber site? Looks cool!

RE: Anaheim, Ca. Rally April 13-15, 2012

Hi all! We just picked up a new 23' motorhome and would like to join in on the Anaheim rally if there's room. We met a few of your attendees last year at the Memorial Day Hot Springs / Blizzard Walk thru the Tall Trees 2011, so we arent complete strangers, just partial! Fun Box John sent me a copy of the word doc to fill out and mail to you in Palmdale, i'd like to send it in and join you if you'll have us. Its me, Adam, wife Jennifer, and 10yo daughter Alison. I'll prolly tow in my motorcycle if Tahiti Ray's son Cory still has the Virago, we can carve up some canyons in the area. (i think its a toll road tho :) ) We picked up a 2012 Forest River Sunseeker 2250 on a Chevy 4500, sold the Lance 2285 and the Titan. (need to update my sig)

RE: Are slides worth it?

A little birdie told me that if i wanted ANY resale value, that I should have a slide. Everyone wants a slide out. Newer TT's have "improved" their functionality, from what i have read, however there are always problems/maintenance headaches. I took my TT back within a month of purchase because the bottom "seal" wasnt high enough to stop air flow when deployed (you could see LOTS of daylight). They ordered a taller seal and installed. Thanks for reminding me i need to do the maintenance on my slideout!

RE: Battery Box Strap Sun Rot

@RayJayco - good point, however the pic is misleading, the whole sunny side up of the strap was deteriorated, both straps. You still could be right tho. I have a solar panel that keeps em charged, so im not taking them in an out, rarely even pop the top off to look at them. I just picked up some distilled water, which is why i even noticed the straps! I'm using the army web belt for now. (blog link a couple posts back) I just returned from a trip up the mountain where it rained and hailed. It soaked the web belt pretty good, but when the sun broke, looked to dry really quickly. The gold buckle seems to be holding pretty firmly. Getting soaked like that is probably not going to be good in the long run. (maybe i should get some spray water repellant) I do like the stainless ideas, it might take a Rocket Scientist to solve the problem! :) Even this small project, its fun learning the many variations, thank you all for your ideas!

RE: FUN GROUP Pow Wow @ California Hot Springs May 27- 30, 2011

...took up residence in a 28' trailer on the Hot Springs Ranger Station where he was employed as a junior forester by the USFS...This one? Snapped this early Sunday morning http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m573/adamroof/111.jpg height=480 width=640 @tahiti16 - just a little snow! http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m573/adamroof/118.jpg height=480 width=640 (Alison, Jeanette, and George, with Meagan in the background throwing snow at George) Ill try to write up a blog post with more pictures this week. It was great to meet the FUN GROUP! The weather wasnt as predicted, but as John says, thats what makes the memories stick. The pool was amazing and the staff very friendly. A day later, and we already can't wait until next year.

RE: FUN GROUP Pow Wow @ California Hot Springs May 27- 30, 2011

ok thanks! We are guessing leaving town a bit before noon, gas up in Bakersfield, possibly visit an in-law for lunch while there, and arrive around 5 or 6.
