RE: Spring pins for landing gears

If they have the square metal spring(s) across the outside of the tube and the spring(s) are a bit loose bend them till they fit tighter into the tubes/holes.

RE: Ontario to Prince Edward Island

Since you're in Waterloo why not go through the Niagara Falls area... follow I90 through Rochester, make a side trip up Whiteface Mountain, take the ferry across Lake Champlain (Keesville NY to Burlington VT) and follow your GPS to PEI. We did that nine years ago... it was a nice change from following the 401 and the gas is less expensive too! Make sure you check the ferry schedule and book your crossing.. you likely will need the larger ferry. We did for our fifth wheel.

RE: Leaving Camper Plugged In At Home Full Time?

For the last 10 years my 2002 Cougar has been parked (stored) beside the house every winter for about 8 months. I have 2 deep cycle batteries in it and it is plugged in through a timer that is on one hour per day. The current batteries (which are 4 and five years old respectively) are still going strong. I can check to make sure the batteries are charging every night since I have an LED night light in the window which comes on when the timer clicks on and I can see it through my house windows. I have the night light plugged into the same circuit that the converter is on and the other circuit breakers are turned off (except for the Main of course). It works for me... even when I am in Florida for 4 months during the off season! One hour is not enough to overheat the charger or batteries and I have never had a problem with the batteries overheating or drying out due to loss of electrolyte.

RE: Titanium or Everest

We are looking closely at a couple of used 5vers. A Titanium 2934TS and a Everest 345S. We're a bit confused on the length of the Titanium, does any one know for sure.
Any comments welcome. The length of the Titanium is equal to a 34 foot fiver.. the 29 expresses the length when comparing it to a regular fiver and the extra 5 feet is the front of the fiver that extends over the truck cab.

RE: Air Conditioner Help.

When you open it up check for a burned out/damaged capacitor. They are prone to failure.

RE: Travel Trailer Height Clearance

One trick I read and it made sense was to measure it myself, first. That is the real height. Then take a sticky and post that in the upper left of your windshield when you travel as a reminder. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance.
Good advice, I've measured mine and stuck a height label on the dash where I can refer to it quickly. Since I travel Canada as well as the US my label shows both Feet/Inches and Metric dimensions.

RE: Slide Question with Rain

I have never used slide toppers. Never needed them. Before closing the slide after a rain event (or even during one) I raise (or lower) the front jacks a couple of inches to allow standing water to run off and then close the slide. I have not had any wet carpets while using this procedure.

RE: water heater in travel trailer

To make sure there is water in the tank crack open the pressure relief valve while the water pressure is high enough to run water out at the sinks. If you're getting water out of the hot water tap as well as at the pressure release valve (outside) you can turn on the electrical function without burning out the element.

RE: Vancouver to Toronto in late December

Check with US border security if bringing household articles. You don't want to plan this out and find out that they are going to give you grief. Don't ask me how I know!

RE: What Was That Trick ....

Don't think it will work in all cases. Are there zip codes that start with zeros? For example my postal code is N0M 2J0 which would be 02000. I did a search on USPS site and it doesn't exist. What now?
Just for your info... my son followed me to Florida two weeks ago. He used his credit card and his postal code numbers plus two zero's were, 02000 and his card worked at every fuel pump he went to!!

RE: Height Checking

Just a hint here. I put a label on the dash with the height I feel I can safely clear in feet/inches as well as metres (to two decimal points). That way I can tell at a glance whether I have to put on the brakes and turn around!
You would be surprized at the number of times I have looked at that with only a minute or so to spare! It is instant information that may come in very very handy!! And make sure you leave enough room to spare if the bridge is over a dip in the road!!

RE: Please help with ShawDirect (Starchoice) alignment question

gitane59,
Use the instructions that are found on the installation manual for Shaw Direct that you can find on the Shaw Direct web site. If you have the eliptical dish use the Sat "B" 111.1 longitude figures. I am in Florida and just set up mine using figures I found on the following link I've used this web site for many locations and have had good luck with it.

RE: Well lets see what happens...

If this doesn't work out for you and you want to push it to the next step.. then ask for an estimate on replacing the thermostat. Once they give you that, tell them you'll pay for the stat. as long as they replace the rad at their cost. That way if it happens again, at least you know that the stat. probably wasn't the cause and replacing the stat. is a minor operation if the rad is coming out anyway. Best of luck. Let us know how you make out!

RE: Suggestions for Running Electrical Wires Inside of Trailer

I added a black tank flush to one of my fifth wheels. To get to the tank connection location I cut a small (6") three sided square hole in the underbelly material. The fourth side I folded so it acted like a hinge. Once the work was complete I closed the (door) with a piece of panelling as backing (above the cut-out section) and used some screws (through the underbelly material and into the panelling) to put it all back to-gether. Then covered the (door) with eternabond tape to seal it all off.

RE: Countertop Dishwasher Recommendations

We have a "Danby" which I built into the cabinets in our Park Model here (near our home). My DW is very happy with it (one season so far). My son and DIL are on their second "Danby" after their first one developed a cracked door window. Their second one has the six place setting and their new model has a solid door (no window). They had no problems with their first one other than the cracked window and they were using it daily for 6 months of the year for five years. They are made in Ontario, Canada. My DW now wants another for our Mobile home in Florida. She's got the $ saved up! She won't even let me load/empty it! Did I mention that I :B love :) ;) her?
