RE: spiders

We were told when we bought our 830 to use flea collars. We cut them into thirds and placed them in cabinets inside and all outside compartments. Seems to have taken care of the bugs.

RE: How does CW recruit, train, audit managers, technicians?

The last line tickled us as it said "experience recommended". Not required, just recommended. That says a lot about their hirng practices.
It appears to me they are looking for experienced persons to work. I would just as soon take a "novice" and train that person the way my company expects them to do it. Sometimes that is much easier than trying to break bad habits.
It appears Marcus is really working hard to correct CW problems. After reading some of his answers and what he appears to be trying to do, I have been looking at Camping Workd in a new light.

RE: Dumb Question . . . Stableloads

ON y 2500 Silverado, the adjustables just touch when unloaded. As soon as I begin to set the camper into the bed, the springs are fully engaged. I can tell they are still engaging a little when mty, but my wife says she cant tell the difference.

RE: Truck camper for Truck

AS stated above, yes you can carry a t/c with a 1/2ton. They do not make them anymore, but a Lance 805 would work on your truck. Has no shower or bath, but a pretty nice camper.
There are some manufacturers that do make 1/2ton specific. Look around and you can find one.

RE: TC travels, Az, Hawaii, Nova Scotia, * 2012 TR, Pg 531

Sleepy, Keep the pictures coming. I am on my way over Memorial Day weekend. My sister lives in Fort Walton and we are coming for a visit. Not bringing the camper though. Just a 3 day visit.
I do enjoy the pics and narrative from you. Quite entertaining.

RE: Tell Us Your Plans....

Just got back from 5 days in Georgia. Went to the big radio control event in Andersonville, Ga. (Called SEFF) Spent 2 days there. Moved to Cordele for 2 nights. Rode the SAM shorline excersion train.
Next day followd Sleepy's footsteps and spent a day at the Andersonville National Site( Civil war prison camp).
Returning home, spent the last night at Little Ockmulgee State Park in Ga. before back to n. fl and work.
Have another 3-4 day trip to the fl panhandle to see sister Memorial Day. Lots of weekend trips as work and money allow for this year.
Paid for a camper, going to try and wear it out.

RE: Vision 19.5 F350 dual rear drive valve stem access

Harbor freight sells a air hose with gauge on a flexible 2 or 3 foot hose. This will fit behind and between the wheels.
It comes with a built in pressure gauge. Works pretty good. The mechanic at the rail yard uses one on the trailers that have the valve stems hidden behind the outer rims when not aligned with the holes in the rims.

RE: TC launching boat.....

I have an extension that makes the hitch come to the rear of the camper. My trailer is long enough that the camper is never closer than about 3 feet to the water. Would take a pretty good wave to get it wet.

RE: Question regarding Happijac Tiedowns.

When I changed trucks, I had to order new parts for my new truck. It was the front arms that the tiedowns go into. I believe I order direct from Happijac. All the other parts were the same.
The person I spoke with said it had to do with the body style. Hope this helps you some

RE: Trip report: D-Day

Thank you Mark-be. My wife and I visited Omaha and Point du Hac when we visited my sister and brother in law. I was unaware before our visit. The American cemeteries are actually National Parks under the control of the United States. This was told to us by the officer in charge of the one near Omaha beach.
There were a couple of moving moments during our visit. My brother in law was in the Air Force. The officer informed him, he could help fold the American flag at the close of the day. I literally had tears in my eyes watching this ceremony.
Another one was during our visit, we saw an older woman dressed in all white. The story we were told is her brother and herself were walking in this area. A hand grenade was thrown and went off killing her brother. This woman walked with a limp. We were told she comes to the cemetery every day and talks to the visitors. We spoke with her as much as we could. ( she did not speak much English) However, she told us " I love America and I love Americans. They saved our country!"
Thank you again for bringing this trip to us. We all have a lot to be thankful for what these brave and heroic servicemen did for the world.

RE: TC Weight and Truck load/capacity -weight police

I am unable to clarify the weight issue. I am over my gvw by about 900#. The truck carries it well and I am under my rear axle rating by several hundred pounds.
As for replacing the front tires, I would suggest replacing them also. You will then have a spare you can move around to a flat on the rear and place your normal spare to the front. Or you could buy 3 tires and then have a spare for any position.

RE: Lance 1191 with or without tent option

usmc, we have an 830 lance with the tent option. It is nice for the room. As you stated, it does let a lot of heat and cold in when deployed. We live in Fl. and took the grandkids with us last summer. It lets a lot of heat into the camper.
Have not had any problems with leaks as of yet. It is very easy to deploy and put back up. Really makes the camper seem a lot bigger when open. The grandkids enjoyed having their own room. We put a small fan in the opening to pull the cool air from a/c and it really helped to move the air.
we found the screen is very fragile. My grandson leaned his head against it and split the screen in a couple of places. Not found a way to fix as of yet. They have not gone again, so we have not put it out. Unless needed for room, adds weight to therear of the camper.
There was a thread a while back about a cover that went over the tent to insulate it. From the comments, it worked. That might be something to consider.

RE: Thinking of going from 245/75R16 to 265/75R16 tires

I went one step further on my 08 2500. I put 285/75 Nitto Terra Grapplers along with Gear A;py 7" rims. My carrying capacity per tire is now 3750#. It made a 4 mph difference on my speedo. I am now going 64 with speedo registering 60.
It made a world of difference in the ride with camper on. A bit rougher with it off. Total cost was near $1500.00 for the whole setup.

RE: Anyone using TorkLift quick disconnect StableLoads?

Bout them a while ago. I really like them. Took a lot of the squat out of my truck with the 830 onboard. Easy to disengage and reengage.
H20 sprt: To get rid of the pin rattle, after you position them the way you want and replace the pin, just move them a bit more to put a little pressure on the pin and no rattle. That is what I do.
They also improved my ride when loaded.

RE: What are your thoughts on this refrigerator?

The big rigs usually have either 3 or 4 batteries with at least 650 CCA. Not too sure how many of our t/c's have that much battery power.
It is true the trucks run a lot, but there are a lot of places that do not allow you to idle anymore. There are combo batteries that are cranking and deep cycle. Might help you with the power requirements.

RE: Trip report: First trip of the year - North Wales

That was interesting. You did not say anything about your rock climbing experience, just Sally's.
Very pretty territory. It seems you have an abundance of different areas within a short distance of where you live. Much closer than here in the Southeastern states.
Enjoy your trip reports. Thanks.

RE: Camper realities for family of 5

I agree on the Lance 830. Lots of room when the tent is deployed. If you are concerned about the kids in the tent, you and your wife could sleep there. Very convenient to the bathroom for the adults. A simple net across the overhead bed,and you got it all covered.
It will fit on a 2500. It is a load for that truck though.

RE: Do you prefer my truck with black or white wheels?

I have a white truck also. Put black Gear Alloy rims with some gray accents. Have had several comments on how nice they look. Have black Westin step bars also. Needed the contrast to the very white truck.
Just my opinion. (which is what you asked for)

RE: Favorite camping meals...

Just did a google search for electric pressure cookers. There are several brands. Was really surprized! I love my stovetop cooker and never thought about an electric one for camping.
One of our favorite meals to take is a crock pot full of chili. Let it run off an inverter as we go down the road off an inverter. Set the crock pot in a corner and wedge it so cant slide. Get to the campsite and have dinner ready.
