RE: Getting ready to go full time!!! Where to winter?

We've been camping for a few years. We started with a tiny 13 ft. TT and moved up to Belle. She is a 2010 Jayflight 22fb. I know she's not the ideal size for full timing but she's what we have to work with and we love her.
No one knows the ideal size for a full time rig, but if it works for you than it works!! You also might want to volunteer/work for site only when hibernating those cold months...saves money and can be fun. We do Florida state parks from Oct to March...:C

RE: Pros and Cons of using tow/haul mode

"the Tow/Haul Mode adjusts the transmission shift pattern to
reduce shift cycling, providing increased performance, vehicle control, and transmission cooling when towing or hauling heavy loads." Sounds good to me! :B

RE: Traveling to Ocean City MD with Fifth Wheel

Can someone tell me if there are any RV friendly stops on route 50 on the way to Ocean City MD. We are mainly looking for a fast food place or convenience store like Wawa, but not sure if there is one on the way that would be easy to get in and out of with a fifth wheel, thank you!!
If you are coming from Pasadena, why not take 404 a few miles past the bay bridge? At Bridgeville (404) you will find a Royal Farms that's a truck stop and is easily accessible. When you get to 113 you will find many suitable pullovers and when you get to Berlin, Md there's a Food Lion on the Right...also route 611 which is the road you will use to get to Castaways has a Food Lion and a great pit beef joint! Check Google maps and it will plot your course and tell you what is available along the route. Or if you need more info, let me know...we have been traveling to OC for many years and lived in Berlin before going fulltime

RE: Newbie seeking LOTS of advice! :)

I know you are focusing on the floor plans and type of rv...don't forget where you park it is important too...nothing better than having a site big enough for an enclosed gazebo. Nice bathrooms and a pool for those cramped up days and close to shopping. Just saying :D

RE: Work camping in Florida

WOW! I see lots of good information here. I learned something about the cover letter and resume. I don't send the email without calling first or looking at the website. We have worked in three parks in the last eight years. Only one was a realy good experience. The other two were not real bad. However, I think I would like to talk with someone who has worked in the park before. I can put up with anything if I can enjoy the area. We seem to always make friends and make the job work for us. We are looking at doing some state parks, fish and wildlife. Any suggestion on good ones and bad ones?
Go to the Florida State park website and get a gig with a park....once in, you will have all kinds of doors open up with info on other work camp jobs. Making friends is how it works in Florida. We are headed back to Delaware and at the stop over park where we are staying until Saturday, our neighbors asked the park owner for a job and they start Monday. :) Enjoy the ride!!

RE: Information Discussion for Gate Guards

Thanks for the interesting conversation about Gate Guard work. Does not look like a good fit for us :) Looks like this type of work will only grow in the future and here's hoping the wages grow with it.

RE: Tires

Recently purchased a 2002 Winn. Journey with 9900 miles on it. I think the tires are original. They look great but I think they should be replaced. Any suggestions on make of tire for quiet smooth ride? It's a diesel pusher 36'. Thank you for any help.
This is a good site for info:

RE: Full time and loving it!!!

We have offset the cost by volunteering at State parks where we save the cost of the site...this coming spring we will be workcamping for pay plus a free site. We will be within a hour's drive of our 7 kids and 10 grandkids. We will do better as we learn more and that's the fun part.

RE: Full time and loving it!!!

Congratulations on your fulltiming and travels! We plan on work camping when our time comes. How far in advance did you make your volunteer arrangements?
Enjoyed reading your blog... nicely done.
Thanks!
We made arrangements one year in advance. We have November 2012 through
March 2013 already committed. If you want a Florida winter gig, register with the Florida state parks and apply to the park or parks of your choice a year or more in advance. Renew your state registration every few months to keep your application fresh...Good luck
