RE: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.

Can you give more detail on how you set up your generator in the front compartment? How you mounted it Do you run the power cable to it or have it permanently wired? how did you handle the exhaust how you sound proofed it Thanks for any information you can give Mike Professor95Professor95 said: "We are talking about a MINIMUM of four series/parallel six volt golf cart batteries, no more than 2' of #1/0 copper cable (3,000 watt inverters use twin cables for each pole) and the batteries floating at around 6.6 volts each to provide 13.2 volts series/parallel. Note this is an additional 350 pounds of dead weight to carry in the trailer not including the inverter and vented case for the batteries." *Well, no problem there...I already have six Energizer GC-2's installed as a battery bank(675 total amp hrs) inthe rear of my MH. All fused at 150 amp/pair, wired in series/parallel with 4 gauge for 12 volt power. The longest run being 2'leading from battery terminals of each pair to power distribution blocks, ready for 2' of 1/0 wire to install the inverter of choice. -Hmmm....$400 for a decent AIMS #PWRINV5000W modified sine wave with a 5000 continous and 10,000 watt peak/surge. (which might mess with my radio reception and LCD tv working properly...) (or) -$474 for a Sunforce# 112460 pure sine wave with a 2500 continous and 5000 peak/surge.

RE: Champion Generator Salesa

My sister just picked up a Champion 3500/4000W generator that I ordered for her thru Tractor Supply. When she went to pick it up, the Manager told her that they had sold no less than 50 in the month of August......this isn't coastal area either!! Today I went into a TSC in NC while traveling and they had a couple of generators, but no Champions; asked the clerk and he said they sell relatively quick. So I think the guys who are picking them up, mostly because they can't afford the Red & Blue Team Price, have picked a real winner and I wish them all the best. Safe travels. I have one also and it is a very nice generator. Not as quiet as the Honda's but not nearly as loud as the 5K Husky bought from Home Depot for the house when the power is out. In my view, it's just fine for tailgating or daytime campground use. I figure I'll buy a Honda or a clone in the future but with a college kid, that will have to wait a while. Mike

RE: Inattentive car drivers

Sorry, but the posts in here just explained to me why there are so many problems with RV drivers and explains some of the idiotic things I have observed from RV's. Many of you don't seem to know when you are supposed to yield and what that means. Basically if you need to merge with other traffic you have to give way, even if the guy next to you is just riding along fat dumb and happy. Yes, you slow down or speed up until you find a spot to pull in SAFELY. A turn signal means little more than you are trying to find a spot. It does not give you any rights to a spot. If you have to come to a complete stop because there is no space, then that's what you do. It is up to you to slow down or speed up to find that spot, not the through traffic!!! And there are many car drivers who are considerate in some stressing conditions. Many times in rush hour traffic I have been given a spot to pull in to by car drivers. For those of you who say you will go where you want and let the other guy get out of the way, I suspect that someday your antics will get you in trouble. I hope it doesn't get you killed in the accident. charlie Or kill someone else. If you are one of those who think because you have the larger vehicle you can go where you want and run someone else out of the way and others have some sort of obligation to get out of your way just because you're there, you're dangerous, ignorant of the rules of the road and I hope I'm never anywhere near you.

5th wheel ride leveling with Torsion suspension

I just made the switch from TTs to a 5th wheel and so far everything is going fine. The trailer tows very well but as you'll see in my signature picture, it rides high in the front. I haven't had a chance to take accurate measurements yet. I've seen much worse going down the road and as I said, it tows fine but I'd like to see it sitting level. It has the AL-KO torsion suspension and I've seen where some have suggested having another "block" welded in between the frame and axle to gain some height. The truck is a Dodge 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive, the trailer has a 5th Airborne air hitch, and the 5th wheel hitch is a Reese 16K on a slider base. The 5th wheel hitch is set to its lowest position and the pin box is at it highest setting. Any thoughts on getting a little more level (without spending a fortune)? Thanks, Mike
