RE: I am not a terrorist

I dont think the credit is the problem. Available credit from the banks are being used mostly for used cars where they get 17-22% interest. Credit cards are taking the rest for high interest rates.
Financing any thing now is hard, no matter what the story is.

If you do not wash your rig and equipment every 3-4 days, you will not have to be concerned, as it will already be rusted and rotted.

RE: Need texas recommendation

The Texas hill country most likley has more jam sessions than anyplace. Just about every rv park that has winter Texans , do have jam sessions. Many book local groups and let you set in with them. Sundays are big jam sessions.

RE: Advice - Questions About Full Time Living in RV

As I mentioned in the very first post, I am very familiar with RV's and have staying in them several weekends and as much as a week with friends, helping out with the maintenance while I'm there, helping them install solar systems as that is my thing but I have never owned one.
Now the next topic on this quest is who to pick out an RV. I already know I want a winter model with double glass windows but brands, models etc. I guess the best way I was planning on doing it was finding the RV that had the floor plan, condition and price I wanted trying not to go any older than 1999. Is that too old?
I am going to TOTALLY disagree with some of the post.
This forum is for fulltimers, not vacationers taking a year off and seeing the u.s.a.
In this forum, IMO, it is the duty of a fulltimer to tell it like it is.
Some of you seem to think his idea is workable. It is, I did it for many years, and it sucked.
Spend a winter in NC, in a 34 ft moho 8 foot wide, and you may as well live in a rented room 10x14. I see your post and see what you fulltime in and I am amazed that you would even think of agreeing with this type of set up. Then I read your post and it cost 40K a year to fulltime, and yet you are the same ones telling this person it is doable, what he says.
Get a grip on life , fulltiming is NOT what this person is talking about.
Save you money , get a box and live undeer the underpass, thats akin to what you are suggesting.
How many of you have actually lived in a old moho in NC in the winter, paying little or no rent, moving eweekly etc?
Not many I bet, but still you advocate this.
Use this forum for what it should be used, educate the uneducated about fulltime living, not about dreams that cannot be possible on the budget and area that he is describing.
Tell it like it is , not what you think the moon is made of.

RE: Advice - Questions About Full Time Living in RV

I would not try to discourage you from your plans, but I would like to point out a few things.
If you can buy a good reliable used motorhome, short of a 22 ft 84 model, that is capable of being lived in fulltime, and moved weekly, why would anyone buy anything else?
Simply because that gets old real quick. I lived in my rv in Raleigh(the Golden Triangel and North Ga) for over 5 years and spent the winters there, It aint pretty doing that in an rv, let alone one that I suspect for 5-10K total outlay, would allow for comfort.
The solar deal is great, IF the sun shines enough. It didnt in Raleigh during the winter. It gets tiresome running up there every 4 hours to clean em off of the snow. (I think it stil snows in NC A LOT ) DURING the winter months.
I like the idea of the off grid lving, DURING THE SPRING AND FALL, but the summers and winters, furgit bout it.
Like I said, I dont want to submarine your ideas, I just think you need to face the truth about a few things, before you throw that money out the door and not be happy, or in other words, study the profile of those giving advice and see what they are living in .
I see very few on this forum that live fulltime , in the winter, or even stay in bad weather, in 5-10K motorhomes or trailers and trucks.
But its free to post.

Just what state parks have you stayed in that you found unaffordable weekly or monthly? Except for Texas where private is often very reasonable I can't see it.
I stay in private run parks in every state in the U.S. ALL FIFTY, and I can attest that I have paid a lot less weekly and monthly than any state park.
Think about this, I have the golden age pass (u get that when u get dumb an old), and I can stay for 16 bucks a night , and if I stay 7 days, that 112.00 , I would not pay that in any rv park. Figure a month 480.00 bucks. I wont stay in westernparkowners place for that, but I can stay in hundreds of others for less than that and have fhu, and amenities.
I love state parks, as I use some in Ark, Tx, Ok, La, Ga,NM, but they are not the cheapest thing out there.

RE: coast guard requirements for the Colorado River ?

I think this is the answer u are seeking. You are a Wash state resident. The Calif law allows you to use your equipment for 90 days without doing anything or even having a number. Then you have 30 days to get it.
Now how long you stay depends on how good you are at telling the officals who check you , just how long you have been in Calif. I hope you get that .
So...........you actually have 120 days to use your craft in the Colo river before you LEGALLY have to do anything. But Calif does require registeration for anything over 8 ft.

RE: Texas RV Park activities - facilities

I suggest if you like swimming, you get a park with an enclosed pool in the Hill country,
In the Hill country, rv park activities are normally geared out the OUTSIDE, due to the great people, places and things to see and do in the Hill country,.
Every park I have ever stayed in for at least a month had card games. Some good, some not so good.
Every park I have stay at for over a month, had the sewing people in there, but you gotta look, ask and seek em out. Actually you about have to do this at any park. But they all have most of them.
Seek and you shall find. Few have woodworking shops , most Texans carve their stuff with knives or chainsaws .
