RE: Good Plexiglass glue?

Thanks for the info everyone. I used acetone in a syringe and looks like a good bond. The real test is going to be after it’s installed on the boat.

Good Plexiglass glue?

Anyone know of a good Plexiglass glue? I have a cracked boat windshield as of today (buddy leaned against it). Looks like IPS Weld-On has something. I know this has nothing to do with trailers but I’m thinking I would tap into the great technical knowledge I’ve seen on this site. Would be good to know if need to repair a trailer related item.

RE: How much sway is normal - Reese dual cam round bars @ 60mph?

Sway or the push/pull from wind/passing vehicles?
I have a dual cam, 7000 lb 27ft travel trailer and a 2500 Suburban. With little to no wind I can feel trucks / buses pass but no big deal. But with a strong head wind it got ugly recently. We were traveling north with north / northeast winds gusting 10-25 mph on I95 and had some close calls with tractor trailers and buses pushing/pulling as they passed. I’m wandering if this is normal with high winds.

RE: Hand held electric drill for jacks

Has anyone used a battery powered drill for leveling jacks?
I see the "tool" for sale in RV stores, but, need to see what size drill folks are using. One of the things I like about the trailer we are buying is that it doesn't have the "factory electric jacks" where one motor adjusts two jack legs.
What size and brand are you aware of? Leaving in four days to "meet" our new rig. Sadly, the Holiday Rambler I show as ours was damaged beyond reasonable repair by a hail storm. We're moving on and up.
I used an 18v cheap-o from Sam’s (Kawasaki brand) for ~2yrs until the Nicad batteries degraded. Changed to a Northern Tool 110v and been happy since. I found the little time spent using an extension cord is better than charging batteries. On the few times I anticipate the ground being wet or we go on a longer trip I bring my 18V Porter Cable with lithium batteries from the garage – does a great job.

RE: Anyone use an old Coleman Sportster Stove?

I do not like propane stoves. It just seems to be too wasteful throwing away all the cylinders. I have several lanterns that I use camping and go no where without a Coleman stove. I just bought new cap gaskets last year because the caps were leaking. I also started my son-in-law with a liquid stove. He is hooked.
My gasket was in bad shape. I burned it out and replaced the gasket with an o-ring per this website:
http://www.spiritburner.com/fusion/showtopic.php?tid/13210/
I used the same o-ring mentioned - 11/16" x 1/2" X 3/32", ACE part 4072427.

Anyone use an old Coleman Sportster Stove?

I’m “bringing back to life” a Coleman Sportster single burner fuel stove I bought 30+yrs ago to. It had old fuel in it so I cleaned the tank with denatured alcohol. Put new fuel in….pumped it up….hearing air going though the burner….light the match for the grand finally….and nothing….clogged something. To make a long story short after lot’s of cleaning it’s ready to rock and roll again except I need to replace the shutoff valve packing. I keep thinking “just order a propane single burner and be done with it” but this thing has character.

RE: Want to kill myself because....

Hooked up everything between the TT and Suburban; pulled out of the site and drove though the campground; pulled out on to the hard surface road and after about 200ft...BANG…..what tha S*%^$?.......forgot to put the hitch pin in.
No damage (other than my ego) and after 15mins of unhooking/re-hooking and lots of “good natured banter” with the campground folks we were on our way. Now have “PIN?” written on the box were I store the hitch. Lesson learned – it’s easy to get distracted.

RV.Net “Grand Poobah"?

Does Rv.Net have a “Grand Poobah" that overlooks the website / moderators? When reading through the posts seems like sometimes they are cut short for no obvious reason.

RE: how old is to old

We have a 2006 Forest River 27ft Cherokee. Every time we go to a RV show we decide we are happy with what we have. It’s paid for....factors into how far we go to camp considering the current gas prices.

12v electrical system problem

The only things that work on the 12v system in my TT without being hooked up to store power are the slide and tongue jack. No lights and radio….the battery strength / tank level indicators don’t light up. When hooked up to shore power everything works fine. All of the fuses look good. The 2 deep cycle Interstate batteries were charged with a car charger and are 6 years old. Any suggestions?

RE: Preferred Access

Thanks Happy Trails. Was hoping they had one close to Alpharetta Ga. where my daughter lives but according to the website the closest is 1 hr away. Gas costs $450 (at the current price) to pull the TT from VA so we are looking for alternatives. Still may give them a try for other locations.

Preferred Access

Anyone had any experience with Preferred Access though RPI? They have condos at reduced rates (among other things like cruises, cabins, hotels). We would be more interested in the condo rental.

RE: How far will you travel when fuel hits...

Great thread…..kind of therapeutic to talk about it. I know we all hate to see the news regarding foreign turmoil / higher gas prices.
I made an excel spreadsheet with the distance to all of the campgrounds we like in various states including Virginia. I enter the current gas price and it tells me the price in gas for all of the vehicles I own. It’s hard sometimes to determine the “cut off” point between towing the TT or not. Some are more obvious than others due to distance/# of nights/time of the year/location/etc. Looks like $4.50 and above we start becoming “more happier” with campgrounds closer to home for the TT. Other wise we are back to hotel rooms for the longer trips….just that simple.

Thanks for the information. A park ranger said they are opening a new campground in the spring that will have W/E and a dump station.

RE: Holiday Travel Park

We love HTP with the exception of the jets flying over…sometimes so close you can read the number’s on the bottom and wave at the pilot. Did the quote say something like, “enjoy an up close experience with America’s finest jet pilot’s”.

RE: When to Tell the Boss?

Based on my experience as part of a large corporation’s downsizing and 3 months remaining to work; it gets “ugly” after you are labeled “out of here”. I had 33+ years with excellent performance appraisals. Ugly meaning not invited to meetings; no eye contact from some people you thought were you’re your friends, etc. So you may want to give them enough time you feel is good for them to find a replacement – based on the trend they won’t replace you.

RE: RV Park Chains / discount groups. Which are the best deals?

I wouldn't worry about what others feel at this time. Go camp at some commercialized parks. Be sure to try federal, state, and city/county campgrounds to decide the type of camping YOU and your family enjoy most. Then decide on a way to reduce your costs.
