Still volunteering for the USACE at Lake Lewisville during the week days and working at the entrance gate Fri-Sun:) Busy, but keeps me outta trouble!

RE: I truly believe rescue dogs are thankful
I rescues\d my little Chanel and she is now called "my little pistol", she is always in control of the situation even though she is tiny. She loves me without any doubt. I wouldn't take anything for her and my little guy, who I got as a puppy.
I was very upset at another volunteer at the park where I volunteer. He is a single man, decided to get a dog, kept her for about 4 days, decided to take her to the pound. He didn't even ask anyone if they would like to take her or if they knew anyone who would rescue her. I would have kept her for a few days at least in hopes of finding her a "good, foever" home. Can't even stand looking at the individual anymore:(

I volunteer because I life the flexibility it offers and I am able to manage without a paid position. I enjoying giving back and the feel of helping others just because I enjoy it. It does take people working and volunteering and everyone having their own opinion to make the world go round:) Just do what makes you happy and be glad you can continue to do.

My little guy , Cody, "will be 4 yrs in May" loves traveling, the little spit fire , Chanel, {rescued}, loves everything, has only been on one 4 day trip with me, just thinks life is a blast no matter what:).

Volunteer Gate Attendant - Lake Lavon
The following volunteer opportunities are available:
Lake Lavon - Ticky Creek Day Use Park
Dates: April 1, 2012 - October 1, 2012
Opportunity Description:
Responsible for opening the gates at 6:00 am and closing at 10:00 p.m. Volunteer must be available at least two hours per day for maintaining park status reports, providing general information to the visiting public, making water safety contacts, handing out water safety materials and informing visitors of rules and regulations.
On holiday weekends (Thurs-Mon) must be available at least 4 hours each day and remain on site.
On regular weekends (Fri-Sun) volunteers must remain on site unless other arrangements are made in advance.
Volunteer will be provided a full hook-up site.
Special Skills Needed: Positive attitude and outgoing personalities along with a desire to work as part of a team to reach our goals and "Make A Difference".

RE: Our gurls need help getting in and out of the TT
I have a friend that made a ramp out of wood, covered it with indoor/outdoor carpet. It is narrow enough to stay beside the steps and they still have room to use the RV steps. Of course, this wouldn't be a good idea if you are traveling and moving alot. They are volunteering so they are stationery for several months at a time.

RE: Lake Lavon, Tx. Avalon park gate job.
I believe all of the parks at Lavon Lake are contracted with OLWF (Our Lands and Waters Foundation which partners with the Corps. The hours are normally 6 am - 10:00 pm for each shift.
I have been contracting with OLWF for the gatehouse at Westlake Day Use Park on Lake Lewisville for about 1 1/2 years. They are great to work with. Most of your contact will be with the Corps Rangers/volunteers and of course the public.
During the week I volunteer in the regional office recruiting/interviewing and referring volunteers for six lakes.
