RE: Getting a refund from Camping World on extended warrenty

Honestly Maddawgs, I had never heard of that! Learn something new every day. Next time I deal with a warranty, I am going to look for that.

RE: Getting a refund from Camping World on extended warrenty

I don't think I have ever heard of anyone ever getting a "refund" from an extended warranty for, well, any product. I do hear all the time about transferring a warranty to a new owner for a fee, that is common.

RE: Pick our flowers!

The restrictions are meant to try to maintain a nice looking campground. Sure, one person picking one flower is no big deal, but multiply that by hundreds or thousands of people cleaning out the landscaping of a campground and you have a barren, ugly place. As to firewood, people clean off all the truly dead wood and then start picking at the trees... "well, this branch is broken, it is almost dead anyways"..."taking down a couple branches won't hurt anything"... and then all the live trees are being stripped apart. That is why most places now just say "do not take any wood".

RE: First trip report - Part 1, Valley of the Gods, Utah

Good trip report! I don't know if this makes you feel any better, but if I had been driving by when you were changing the tire, I would have stopped to help...

RE: Random Newbie Questions

We have found Scott toilet paper to work fine, and it is (supposedly) biodegradable for camper systems.

RE: Random Newbie Questions

Awning "de-flappers". Any camper supply store will know what you mean when you ask about them. They grip the awning in the middle of the side/end, and wrap around the support bar with velcro. They will save your awning and your sanity on windy days. On very windy days you do not want to put out your awning, but for unpredictable gusts the de-flappers can save your awning.

RE: Mountable Grill

From what people seem to be saying, the newer camper grills are better, but... we had an RVQue grill for our camper when we bought it new 9 years ago. I tried my best to use it for two years, but it really wasn't a good grill. We bought a portable one (a Thermos Grill-2-Go, similar to the Weber and others) and love it.

RE: Do You Disconnect The Battery

What if trailer is stored and has shore power plugged in, does the battery get a charge? I curently got carport all setup and trailer stored at home, I do plug into shore-power, for lights, and misc fan, with needed. Wondered if battery is kept charged when trailer plugged in? Thanks, Markiemark That depends if your camper's electrical system is setup for that. Most are, but you should check... Easiest way to find out is to give your model number(s) here, and ask! lol I always disconnect the battery if the trailer is sitting for more than a few days without being used.

RE: Post your tow vehicle pics here

Wow, that is a clean looking truck. Is that a stock suspension? Looks like it might have a little "umpf" added to it...

RE: Providence RI end of July 3 days needed

Probably no sites with connections were available for the days they need.

RE: How to break the ice with our CG neighbors?

I always make a point to introduce myself to my immediate neighbors, usually under the "pretext" of checking the campsite boundaries and/or making sure my hose and cords are out of their way. At a minimum, if there are any issues they will hopefully talk to us before contacting management. Not that I think my family has "issues"... lol Otherwise, most everyone is very socialable. Always compliment someones camper... that always gets people talking! A good sign that people want to say hello is the "welcome" sign or a sign with the family name attached to the camper.

RE: Providence RI end of July 3 days needed

Have you looked at WaWaloam campground? I think that is spelled correctly, and I'm not sure how far away from Providence it is (RI is small, everything is close to everything else!). We were there a few years ago and it might meet your needs. I'll go see if I can find a link for it...

RE: Fly's

How come when a fly gets in your vehicle and you let him out the first thing he does is fly back in your vehicle? He is related to my cats?

RE: PPL MOTOR HOMES - Houston, Texas

PPL treated me like royalty! I have never in my life been treated as well as I was by the staff at PPL! Well, I would not have expected that after reading this thread. My advice would have been to walk away from that dealership from your descriptions of how they treated you over the phone, when you were able to reach them. Have fun with your camper!

RE: Newbie need advise for nnew TT

No to 1 through 4, maybe on 5. Some people like extended warranties, but examine the paperwork carefully to understand what is covered and for how long - Don't go by what the salesperson says. If the TT makes it through the first year (most basic warranties cover for that long) with no issues, then it'll probably be good for years afterwards.

RE: You MIGHT be an RV'r if . . .

. . . even after 5 years on the RV.net, you are still drawn to a Walmart thread like a moth to flame. You know it's gonna be a trainwreck, but you just can't help reading and chuckling. I resemble this! I must be an RV'r...

RE: I KID YOU NOT.... (TEENAGE BOYS)

When our kids hit mid-teens, we told them it was okay to bring electronics (games, dvd players, etc). After years of "NO electronics" when we camped, I figured if having electronics would keep them camping with us, I'd rather have that than nothing. Well, my son asked if we could keep the "NO electronics" rule, as he wanted to keep camping with us and having electronics in the camper just seemed wrong. My daughter, being a book worm, was fine also. My family is VERY electronic when home (4 computers, internet, games, etc), but when we get to a campground that is all forgotten. Great post rookie_rv, and I'm glad you all had a good time!
