RE: Bedroom Slide Won't Open

Are all the slides the same technology? I've heard of some coaches that had both hyraulic and electric slides.
My Holiday Rambler is of the variety that requires the motor to be OFF for the slides to move at all. Both of my slides are electric and I wonder if motor on for hydraulic and motor off for electric is the way of the world???

RE: Leaking HWH jack

If it's the cylinder seal leaking I would expect the puddle of oil to be in/on the foot plate. I've got one now that's doing that and the oil is puddled in the foot plate.
I'd flatten a large cardboard box and down the foot on that. Check back before raising.

RE: Perspective RV'er needing opinions

I'm not knowledgeable on the many different diesel pushers out there but one bit of advice is that RV's and coaches in particular, are very individual. By that I mean a top of the line coach not maintained can be worse than an entry level unit that has been maintained very well.
Pick the coach and it's features and get the condition of that one determined by a professional.

RE: Generator charging question

On most RV's there is no hardwired connection from the engine to the coach batteries. That's the way most all RV's are set up. Coach batteries are charged by generator or shore power and chassis battery charged by vehicle engine. A momentary switch allows for manually adding power from coach batteris to chassis battery for starting but if you hold it down too long it will burn out the Relay.
There are a few exceptions and ways to redo it that are worthwhile.

RE: Nikon or Canon? I bought the....

YOU HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL using old lenses on the new digital cameras. The problem is that the new cameras have small pins that connect the lens to the cameras for various controls, like autofocus and f-stop, etc. If I were to take one of my old Nikon lenses and connect it to the D80 it would bend up about 7 pins on the camera body. Big repair bill!!!
If new to digital photography I would suggest getting either Lightroom or Photoshop Elements for your computer. Also read about "workflow" and how to use Photoshop and you'll be POWERFUL!!

RE: Emergency Road Service

Have had it for some time but only used it once. Last year I needed to get towed out of the sand and the truck came and then the bigger truck came and the two of them took care of it. No charge - fast response - so I guess I'm a fan.

RE: Bent step frame

Sometimes when we screw up in this hobby the only thing to do is smile and get out the tools. (That's why my tools are right by the front door....)
Just crawl under there and start dissasembling, just no other option other than taking it to a shop and pay some other person to crawl under there and take them off.
My Kwikee steps are the 3 step version and other than the connection points up under the RV - every connection is a machine pressed rivet. Once you get it off as a unit if you can't straghten the whole thing it'll require drilling those rivets out and replacing them.
In any case not an easy job.

RE: HELP! EMERGENCY! NEED HELP NOW!

In our HR the ignition switch being on will lock out the electric slides - so try turning the ignition on and off a few times and while you hold the "Slide IN" switch have someone else move the ignition on and off to see if you get a bump as the ignition switch moves.
Also some RV's need the Emergencey Brake to be ON - so try putting that on and off a couple times.
If the slides are electric there is a small lever on the motor you can move and then manually close the slide with a wrench.
Good Luck

RE: DSLR, Live View and RAW question

Nancy, You'll have fun with that camera combination. The best advice you can get is to "JUST SHOOT PICTURES!" You'll learn so much with the digital pictures and if one or a whole batch is no good - JUST DELETE THEM and move on.
Photoshop CS software is very, very powerful but for 95% of all photographers you'll be very happy with Photoshop Elements. The difference in cost is about a thousand dollars or more..........Elements runs around $100 and the current CS is over a grand.
I still use CS3 (current is 5 or 6) and it is more powerful than needed.

RE: Generac generator fuel pump

When I had a small vacuum leak in my fuel line I was able to test it by taking the input side of the fuel pump and connecting it with a short hose to a container of fuel.
When all ran fine then I knew to replace the fuel lines back to the tank connection.

Gee whiz, I was gonna pick one up for a spare in case my HR breaks down but I wouldn't want a coach from a devious company..........

RE: TV on DC????

Not a moot question. We had a 1996 Brave that had an a/c only TV in the front and an a/c - 12v TV in the bedroom area.
That was really confusing until we figured that one out.

So, What doesn't like peanut butter???

The RV has had to sit for a couple months while I recover from open heart surgery and when I got into the rig it was full of "rodent" sign.
Eaten acorns and droppings all around, just in everything.
SO, I put in traps baited with nice fresh peanut butter AND NOTHING TOUCHED them!
Hence the title of this post "What animal doesn't like peanut butter but likes acorns?

RE: Is corrosion an issue in Florida?

The area of Florida is very, very specific even down to just a few miles. We are less than 5 miles from the Gulf on the West coast and it's so dry here there is cactus growing in my pasture.
IMHO the RV could have spent time anywhere so you can only tell by inspection. An RV from Michigan could have spent 6 months of every summer in Panama City, Fl.

RE: White roof sealant stuff...

When the tech resealed the roof on our HR last year he used a wide sealing tape and then put the white sealant over the tape. The original was done that way in 2004 and still was not leaking.

RE: Electrical Question

Try using a multimeter to measure the voltage. When the third RV plugged in it may have caused the voltage to drop and with the lower voltage the 50amp rig would change it's current draw.

The more assets held by the RV Park owner/operator - the more they have to lose. I can see an owner feeling they want to be protected.

RE: Engine dog House console

I would start by checking the second hand stores like Goodwill and the Sheriffs youth Ranch, etc. Look also at items where you only use a part of the furniture item. Also I'd try some junkyards that may have some old Conversion Vans on their lot.
Be very careful when you install whatever you find and be sure the connection hole is totally sealed up for gasses and fire.
