RE: Water Hose

I have no defensible answer other than, I just do! :E
The white hoses are so darned inexpensive that we always have 100ft onhand (2-25ft lengths and 1 - 50ft length) and replace them each spring......
Why do you replace them every year?
That's the most honest answer I've ever seen. Thank you.

RE: Laundry Day!

At the very least they should have filled the boots with old underpants to help absorb the moisture.

RE: Strange event with Pullrite Super Fifth Hitch

Here's an easy fix. Take about 12-18" of rubber hose and run the cable through that. It keeps the wire from getting caught on anything and remains flexible. Works great for me.

RE: Rancho Sedona RV Park pics

We stayed there a few years back, in a 40'mh w/toad. When we made our reservations, the cg worker told us to go directly to our site, we would not fit in the office area to check in. We had a back in, don't remember the site #, but we fit fine. So, other than the check in area, no problem
We were in site 82. Great site backed up to the creek.

Rancho Sedona RV Park pics

Now here's one of the best RV parks we've been to. Beautiful location within walking distance (10 min) to shops and restaurants.

Grand Canyon Trailer Village pics

Here's a link to a bunch of pictures I took recently while staying at Trailer Village at the Grand Canyon. Sites were fairly level, not too close together and had full hookups. Considering we were hardly at the trailer most days it was a great place to stay while visiting the Grand Canyon. Reservations are a must.

RE: Mammoth Cave NP to Nolin lake COE campgrounds?

I would highly recommend Nolin Lake State Park. We spent a week there and it was beautiful. The campground is manicured looking with nice deep, big sites. Click on my signature photolink and you'll find an album with campsite views and the cool little ferry. Great place.
By the way, you'll recognize our favorite site there since at the time we had the same trailer that you have now!

RE: Do RVers Contribute to Society?

IMO, I have been "contributing to society" all my working life. I've been gainfully employed, paying taxes, contributing to churches and the like, and never getting any handouts from the government.
Once I retire, I plan to do much more just for DW & I. I do expect to spend more time and money on us. And as long as I can afford it, that includes traveling.
If some sanctimonious do-gooder doesn't feel that I'm still "contributing to society", then he/she/they can just kiss my grits.
My grits X2!

RE: 50 Amp extension cord

dog bones are cheap. If it were me I would get a dog bone and a 30 amp extension cord. changes of you using two a/c's at once are small and you can turn off the air when using the microwave.
I camp throughout the south in the summer and having two A/C's running at the same time is not uncommon. I built a 10' 50A extension cord and have used in twice and loaned it out once. If I didn't have the scrap cord around to build it I probably would have repositioned the trailer instead. When you need 50A, that's what you need. 30A just doesn't hack it when the temps outside are 100+.

RE: Do we really need all that light?

This thread definitely brought a tear to my eyes. The dark movement. It's natural. Light causes breast cancer? Must have been Dr. Suess that did that study. Darn that Edison, what was he thinking?

RE: Use of Vented Tailgates

I had a vented tailgate when I had my first 5th wheel but when I got my roll top bedcover I put the regular tailgate back on so I could lock up the bed. I didn't see any advantage of the vented tailgate other than not having to drop my tailgate and put it back up. Not really much of an issue. I can't understand how people "forget" to put their tailgate up or down.

RE: Lost Dutchman State Park, Apache Junction AZ

Wow, great pictures. I'm so glad you posted them because we are planning to go to Lost Dutchman SP in May and have never been there before. We have a reservation for a 50 amp site but we haven't been able to find many good pictures of the campground on line. If you have more could you send me a few or give me a link to your photo site? Thanks.

They sell these in Bass Pro Shop here in Texas. They are right next to the booth for free nights in Branson and the place that sells those Brooklyn Bridges.

RE: Why I Love My RV

I think if the only option I had was to take my trailer then I would miss out on things like trips to other countries, cruises and staying in a new city. Really? All you want is to stay in your RV?
