RE: RV Parking City Ordnances

This happen to us a few years ago. A few people were complaining to the city about RV's. We put a flyer together and asked other RV owners in town to let the city council and planning commission know their feeling also. The results were some new city ordinance that established where people could park their RVs on their lot and a 6 hour loading time frame. You can get two days if you get permission from the police department and do not create a safety problem. It was a compromise that we can live with. To be honest, we did have some RVers that had parked in a way to create problems for others.

RE: Cedar Creek 34rlsa owners

Our last fiver was a Cardinal, both Cedar River and Cardinal are made by Forest River and we were pleased with the support that Forest River provided. Enjoy your new rig.

RE: Towing

I find the bigger the truck, the rougher the ride and that goes for the new pick-ups out there.

RE: 4 Point Level Up

We have the four point system and it works great. I see that some of you have a six point system and was wondering why there is a need for six? When we had our motor home that weights far more than our fiver we only had 4.

RE: Towing

We have the 2500, but I wish we had bought the 3500. I understand all advantages of a dully, but this is what I don't like about them. When you get someplace and you want to go shopping or just explore a dully for me is just to hard to use. Also you can't take them through a car wash.

RE: 5th Wheel hitch

It sounds like the hitch you need to put in your pick-up came with your fiver, you need to install it or have it installed.
If you are looking for suggestions on what type of hitch for your truck you need I would recommend an air hitch. They are expensive but will save the beating your trailer takes on todays roads. If you are planning to put lots of miles the air hitch they are a good idea.

RE: Newby to 5th wheel

I’m afraid I agree with all the other post, you’ll need a bigger truck.
We moved from a Class A to a fiver 5 years ago. We first bought the trailer and than ordered the truck after talking to the truck dealers on what was best for the trailer we were getting. We bought a ¾ ton, now I wish we had gotten the one ton.

RE: Silver City, NM

On the way to Silver City from Deming, there is a great state park--City of Rocks.

RE: Arkansas Travel

You sure can, we've done it before, but I never get a good nights sleep. Rest Stops or truck stops have a lot of traffic coming and going. WalMarts have cameras that keep an eye on their parking lots, but still I always have trouble sleeping.

RE: Arkansas Travel

Riverside is a bit noisy, it right on the interstate in Little Rock. If you need to stay in Little Rock the KOA in North Little Rock is right off of I-40.

RE: Fifth wheel lube plates

Some hitches require the 12” lube plate. We had an 18K Reese that required the larger plate. Our new hitch takes a 10” plate but it must be thinner than the normal plates.
It depends on what your hitch manufacture requires.

RE: Washing RV

I like to use the pressure wash to get road salt off the frame. RV's don't have the rust proofing that cars have and will rust a lot easier.

RE: Just picked up our new Redwood

Congregations on your new fiver, we looked last year at them Excel, and Mobil Suites. The one we picked went out of business two months after we bought it. But we still like it and haven’t had one problem with it so far, hope you have the same good luck.
