RE: Williston Wal-Mart cracking down...

It really doesn't matter if they are all oil workers or not, regardless of who they are, they are breaking walmart's policy.
Really, please show me the "Walmart policy" they are breaking. The last one I read, said it was the individual store manager who decided on the policy of RV parking in the parking lot.
I do feel badly for them, but it sounds like they weren't exactly being mild mannered "house" guests either. The article said walmart has tolerated this a couple of months (wow, they really went above and beyond IMO) and that they are not putting up with "loitering, littering and noise" any longer. Sounds like the workers who were camping there wore out their own welcome, and if that is the case, it's hard to feel too much pity. It's one thing to go there if they had nowhere to stay, a totally different issue when they abuse it while staying there.
It sounds like they (oil company) do NEED workers that badly if so many are camping at walmart, so in that regard they do need to step up to the plate and help with some temp housing. I can only assume that there is not enough locals who already live there to fill all the jobs.
And it is only a builder's responsibility if the workers or the oil company is footing the bill. Builder's can't build housing out of thin air.
Why not? They did it for years in the very recent past.
I think this is one instance where walmart can be applauded. Sounds like they did let them stay far longer than their policy allowed to try to be of some help, but looks like they got tired of being taken advantage of. This is what gets me in the case of some government programs as well - people get funding and money for housing, food, etc and so many totally abuse those privileges many times, and start feeling like they are entitled. It makes one not feel as altruistic in helping someone out when that happens.I see you want to get this thread closed with your last statement.....

RE: Millicom speed

We have the Millenicom unlimited, which is Verizon infrastructure and consistently see 1.2meg download, even out here in the boonies. When in the cities, it can be much higher.
Unless there's been a very recent change, Millenicom's Unlimited plan uses Sprint's network, and their 20GB Advanced plan uses Verizon. Are you able to use a My Verizon account to monitor your usage?Yep, I'm using the VZAM to monitor and check use.

RE: Transporting a Smart Fortwo car.

I see a big problem, there are no aux lights and the length of the car would conceal the RV lights. NOT a good situation, IMO.

RE: Tires

Air is 78% nitrogen, so why do you think that you should pay to exchange that other 22%? Really, for the "average" RV person, there is absolutley NO benefit to using 100% nitrogen.

RE: Williston Wal-Mart cracking down...

I just hope this doesn't leave any of them with no alternative but to go home and draw unemployment. Sounds like a lot of these folks are mostly guilty of not being able to find another place to park. I do notice that a few folks here take great glee at others' misery or misfortune.
Jim, "If only the good die young, what does that say about senior citizens?"Why do you think that a property owner is required to provide you an entitlement of residing on his private property..:h..We work in the oil patch and I do NOT think Walmart owes me a place to park for an indefinite period of time. That is what is wrong with America today.....everyone is "entitled" to do whatever they think they can, to heck with those they are taking from.

RE: Medicare use out of country

We have Medicare, Tricare for Life and TCL will pay the standard 75% for any treatment outside the US. It becomes your "primary" insurance when you leave the US. Be aware that if you are in Mexico, the Mexican Military hospitals and Drs will treat you for no cost, and they have the best medical facilities in Mexico.

24 hours is more than reasonable for an "overnight" stop. I agree, Walmart is being more than reasonable and well within their rights.

RE: Window tinting suggestions

B...247,
Are you talking about a MH or a trailer?
Texan,
Please explain the physics behind that blanket statement. We went to 2 different places to see about tinting our RV dual pane windows, a residential and an automotive shop. Both said the same thing, the heat reflected back from the tint inside, will cause an expansion inside between the panes, which will rupture the rubber strip separating the 2 panes. Even the shop that repaired a foggy window in the RV said if we had the window tinted, the warranty was void.

RE: Best source for ISL air filter

I had a Monaco tech recommend that the filter be changed every 3 years due to possible deterioration from heat, moisture or other factors and the catastrophic results if it did. I figure for the small price Speedco charges, I will follow the Monaco techs recommendation. What air filter do you get at speedco for $6o? They have charged me that much for a fuel filter. I would like to know the filter number so I can call the speedco I use to use and see what they say.You know what I have for a coach and what it uses for a filter, so you can do anything you want. I have the receipts to back up my statement, but you call me a liar on anything I post, so have at it.

If your windows are double pane, forget it. Tinting can cause your seal to rupture and the windows to fog.

RE: Wireless One Day Deal - Cell Phone Signal Booster

That is a good buy, having ordered one at a higher price, that's to be delivered tomorrow. We used a Wi-Ex 200 last year in an area that had "no" bars on our phones and it provided a usable signal for the 54 days we were there. This is a newer model with more power, so we hope it will work better.

If anyone needs or wants to have a cell/aircard amplifier as a backup, here is a good buy on one. After a lot of research and having used a Wi_Ex amp last year, we ordered this model yesterday, at a higher price....LOL.

Who ever is next out, at the area that services that gate. This particular gate is on Jamies board.

RE: Yuma

Walmart 32nd and AVE 7 1/2 E. I see RV's there often. Only assuming you can overnight. Anyone know for sure.
No overnight parking allowed in Yuma's Walmarts according to www.overnightrvparking.comUnless Yuma has changed their ordinance and enforcement policy in the last year, there is NO overnight parking at any public parking area, like the big box stores. Also, they do enforce it rigidly.

RE: Gate Guards

LOL....we got caught in a power struggle between 2 company men and found out this AM, the one here in Three Rivers won out, so we are not moving to the new construction gate in Pawnee Thursday. Anyone waiting that wants to work a construction gate with Pioneer, they will be putting someone in Pawnee this week. You will need a cell phone amp, as there is very poor reception at that gate.
We have also decided to stay here this summer and keep working. So hopefully they will give us another good gate in a month, when this one closes.

RE: Cell amps and antennas

Well, I talked to the 3G store yesterday and was not pleased with their options(mucho bucks)plus very directional unless I wanted to buy the "optional" omnidirectional antennas. Everything else I looked at was big dollars, so decided to go with the Wi-Ex system. It is a newer model than the one we used last year and supposedly better with higher gain. The one we had last year worked in a no bar area, so we feel this one will suffice, for a reasonable price. It will be here tomorrow.
