I highly recommend the Minute Man Missle Silo NHS. Check their website for tour info.

RE: Colorado National Park

I have driven up to the top with my 30ft TT being towed. We entered off I70 from the north. It can be done, but I didn't particularly enjoy the drive. It is very curvy and you will use the brakes A LOT. With that being said though, I am glad we did go up to the visitors center and enjoy the view. We were just passing thru the area on our way out west and decided to stop.

RE: First Tw Chevy 2500HD Gas

My 2011 6.0 4X4 got almost 8 mpg towing our 9000 lb tt and a max of 12 empty just doing the 55 mph speedlimit and 60 on the interstate. Went back to my present diesel a 2011 6.6 I get almost 12 towing and 15-17 empty.
8-10 towing seems to be the norm...but 12 emtpy at 55mph sounds pretty poor. Empty I've gotten 16-17mpg on full tanks on all highway trips doing 60-65mph. For whatever reason my truck seems to get slightly better mileage around 62mph than it does at 55mph.
I second that. I average around 15 - 16 at 55 to 60 mph

RE: "Normal" for GM 2500 HD 6.0 / 6 speed ?

Those numbers are actually probably right-on. In 4th doing 3000 rpm with the 4.10 is what I see also. In a STRONG head wind, my truck will tend to want to run in 4th (towing TV). 5th, however, is the sweet spot if I can maintain around 2200 at APT mentioned.

RE: 6.0,, 6 speed, tow haul towing

I see a 1.5 mpg difference running ethanol vs nonethanol. Also, I always run T/H on whenever I'm towing the TT. See my specs below (4.10 rear end)....

The parks of UT are worth it - and don't miss Capitol Reef in Torrey as well.
I second that!!

RE: Mammoth Cave NP to Nolin lake COE campgrounds?

We were just there last year. Stayed at Nolan Lake, but different CG. It was about 20 mins if I remember correct. I enjoyed Nolan Lake and I think you will too. You must do the Ferry for something "fun".

RE: Grand Canyon North Rim Campground length issue

We were at the North Rim CG three years ago. We have a 30 foot TT and were pulling it with a extend cab F150 at the time (close to 50 total ft length). We fit fine into out pull-thru spot. Problem is, I can't remember the specific spot number (maybe 24) It specifically said it was a 40 ft spot. If you can find one of those spots still open, switch it one of them (limited amount of them).

RE: Drive from Capital Reef NP to Zion NP

highway 12 from capitol reef ( torey ) to bryce is one of utahs treasures
it is a state highway with some of utahs most scenic country.
yes it is up and down and twisty in places but should not be a problem.
have done in 40 footer with a toad no problem.
I absolutely agree with that statement. It is a great drive!

RE: 3.73 vs 4.10

If you're going to buy a gas powered tow vehicle, and you're going to be pulling an RV with it, get the 4.10s. The mpg difference is 0.5mpg or thereabouts, but the tow rating increases by about 2000# (or at least it used to).

RE: 3.73 vs 4.10

I have the duramax with the 3.73. I came from the Ford 7.3 with 4.11's. I am more than happy with the 3.73's. Plenty of power to tow my 13000 lb trailer up steep hills, at freeway speeds.
Agreed, the 3.73 is enough for a diesel.
The OP is looking at a 6.0 L gasser - 4.10 is my preference and opinion.

RE: KY - Nolin River Lake COE - Anyone have news?

No boating. Mostly just a campsite for visiting Mammoth Cave and Abe Lincoln's birthplace.
I'm sure my 11 year old son would love to jump off the rocks.... this dad, though, not so much! ;)
