Main Circuit Breaker

My main circuit breaker went out on my Cedar Creek Saturday afternoon so only places like Lowes were open. I have never heard of this brand. It may be popular for RV's but I don't know. The brand is T&B ( Thomas and Betts ). I find them listed on Google but no dealers listed close to here. It is a dual breaker with the master being 30 and the AC being 20. It is 1 inch wide. I looked at Square D, G.E. and others but none of them will work. I will check with RV Suppliers in the morning but would like to know if anybody has used this brand. I will check with Cedar Creek also. I need something in Central Texas or somewhere between here and Raton, New Mexico. With this temperature I would have to find one before I could spend the night.

RE: Top Gear TV Show.......

jessjerr1831, I agree with you. I was always told to take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints. It is also good to pick up trash left by people that don't care. Irresponsible off roading will result in four wheel drive roads being closed to all of us.

RE: Axle advise!

Chris, I would be highly suspect of anybody that tells you about your problem from that far away. Take it to a reputable alignment shop that does alignments on 18 wheel trucks NOT where they align cars or pickups. They will bend your axles to the proper specks and that should solve your problems. The normal price is around $300.

RE: Forrest River - Cedar Creek?????

Tresa, I have a 2004 30RLBS Cedar Creek and I am very happy with it. I bought it used and later found out that there had been some axle problems ( not Cedar Creeks fault but their suppliers fault ) which lead to tire wear. Cedar Creek replaced everything from the frame down including tires and rims. No muss no fuss they just took care of my problems with only one phone call. I didn't even have to pay for any labor. My trailer was about four years old and had no warranty but Cedar Creek takes care of their customers. I figure that it would have cost me about $2,000 or more if I had to pay for it. Later I had problems with some of the Chinese built tires and they helped me out with this. I could not ask for better service. Jim

RE: Effect of pullilng 5er on wheel alignment

Eddie, I can see no reason for pulling a heavy trailer to effect the alignment on your tow vehicle.

RE: Should I upgrade my tow vehicle with gas or diesel?

Greg, unless you have way over 200,000 miles, have a major problem with the truck, or just don't like the truck, I wouldn't even consider trading. You may already have a better truck than you can buy and I am a Ford guy.

RE: Wheel alignment question

J.W., have you ever heard the old expression " If it ain't broke don't fix it ". That is probably good advice. I spent most of my working life in the Brake, Front End, and Alignment business and I have a 2007 F250 with the original BFG All Terain TA tires with 60,000 miles and no alignment wear and I am not going to align my truck when I replace the tires.

RE: Axel alignment

grey eagle, a few years ago I had problems with the Al-Ko axles that you mention. I bought my trailer used and it was four years old. I called the manufacturer with the information off the trailer and he imediately told me that they would replace everything from the frame down including shackles, springs, axles, brakes, hubs, bearings and 4 new tires & rims and they paid the labor. This was on a 4 year old second hand trailer that was way out of warranty. Cedar Creek seems to take care of their customers and I WILL BE BACK when I need a new trailer. Last year all four of the Chinese built replacement tires gave up ( the last one was only 3 miles from home after a 8,560 mile trip ). Cedar Creek gave me a partial refund on the defective tires and I replaced them with BFG TA highway LT235/85R16. When the tires went bad they tore up my fender skirt, the molding around the door, the lower side panel, and some molding. Cedar Creek furnished all of the parts at no charge and I did the repair myself. I am a HAPPY CAMPER.

RE: Axel alignment

Greg, this indicates that wheel has a toe out condition. That is not unusal on the right rear because it is the wheel that takes the most abuse. The measurement should be taken from the center of the spindle to the center of the other spindle to get an accurate measurement but that is hard to do without taking the wheels off. You will need to take your trailer to a shop that aligns big rigs and their trailers ( 18 wheelers ). I would ask around at a few shops and see who gets the most recomendations.

RE: 5th Wheel Chucking Problems . . . .

Ken, the Air Lifts do two things. One is it will allow you to level your truck and trailer. Two is it dampens the rebound of your springs. When you put the pin load on your truck it normally sinks down to the overload springs. When you hit a bump it throws the nose of the trailer up and off of these overloads a few inches THEN it comes back down hard on the overload springs and maybe even rebounds up again. This will cause chucking. It's kind of like you sitting down hard on a wooden chair and then trying again with 6 inches of foam rubber under you. It takes the jolt out of it. On your truck the air cushions the blow. It sure did remove the chucking from my truck.

RE: Can dime-sized plastic dropped into fuel tank cause trouble?

Roy, the pick up tube for the fuel pump comes down thru the top of the tank and doesn't go all of the way to the bottom. It does not drain into the pump like draining a kitchen sink so the pump would have to suck it up and if it doesn't float that can't happen.

RE: What is this tire code???

Longrider, I think what you are looking at is molded into the tire. What you need to look at is BRANDED into the tire after what you are reading. It should be a indented box with numbers melted into that box. What you are looking at tells the manufacturer, location of the plant where it was made, and the size and ply of the tire. This information remains the same but the date the tire was made on changes every week.

RE: Tailgate net for 5w's?

Jeff, I have had my Turbo V Netgate for several years and am very happy with it. I ordered it on the internet for around $60.

RE: 5th Wheel Chucking Problems . . . .

Ken, I had chucking problems with my F250 pulling my Cedar Creek until I installed Air Lift 5000's on my truck. That all but completely eliminated my chucking. In my opinion the items that you mentioned improve the ride of the trailer but not the truck.

RE: How to fix trim that is serperating.......

From what I can see it's just the rubber insert that goes inside the molding. Just pinch the top and bottom together and push it back inside the molding. This may happen from time to time.

RE: Rushing in a fifth wheel is never good!

I got mad at the campground manager for keeping her nose in the way while I backed within an inch of where she wanted me. I got out of the truck, relaesed the hitch, droped the landing gear, jacked up the trailer, and took off. When I heard a horrible noise I looked back to see that in my anger I tore up my tailgate. I replaced the tailgate and now use a Turbo V Netgate when traveling. It takes less than 5 minutes to change them out and for sixty bucks it sure does make it easier to hook up and unhook and I use my factory tailgate except when I am traveling.

Melinda, I was unable to read the last four words of this message. Please be careful because some of us have very fragile egos. Jim

RE: Tore the rear cap off the trailer, yes we did.

Melinda, your husband wasn't the first to do something like this and CERTAINLY won't be the last. The sound when I tore up my tailgate with my 5th wheel was horrible. Just remember there are those that have done something like this and those that WILL do something like this. Jim
