RE: wholesale rv dealers....annoy me ....

Just got this reply from a RVW sales person regarding their new service network:
Tery,
We have over 2,500 private service networks all across the US and Canada under contract to service your unit. We were tired of "local" dealers threatening to not service customers if they did not pay their inflated prices. So we took matters into our own hands and started signing up private service centers to take care of all our customers needs. Anywhere you travel in the US and Canada we can get you serviced. Simply put, no other dealer has this network or ability!
Thanks,

RE: wholesale rv dealers....annoy me ....

I've had warranty work done on my 5ver local and it came from RVwholesalers. No problems at all. After negotiating $3500 off their asking price I saved $9000 by driving to Ohio so was very pleased. The 9000 dollar savings was including the expense of the trip.We did have to sell our tt instead of trade it in. So am i hearing you right that you negotiated with RVW? I thought theirs was a set "no haggle price." If you did get them to negotiate the price, what percentage did they come down?

RE: wholesale rv dealers....annoy me ....

I LOVE wholesale RV dealers! The drive the price down and then my local store matched it, saves me from having to haggle as much. I actually chose a store about an hour away because they would come down in price. The store right next to us had a "No Haggle" policy, so we walked out as the prices were high.Ditto! We had the same thing happen with us when we bought the below trailer in 2005. The local dealer (Orangewood RV, Phoenix) matched the RVW price, plus delivery costs, so we were real happy. And I got to build a relationship with the people there, which paid off well on first & second year warranty work - they did their best to step up in various ways.
What I am wondering is (and I haven't read all of this thread, so maybe it's already being discussed) RVwholesalers now is touting the first ever nationwide service network for an online dealer. Does anyone have any experience with how effective their service network is?

RE: Fiberglass Siding Showing Seams

Well there's nothing much I can do except keep watching it I guess. My dad says he's had these things on various units and doesn't see much issue with it . . . other than the looks.

Fiberglass Siding Showing Seams

Have begun to notice that some seams under our fiberglass siding are starting to show through ever so slightly on the surface. No actual cracking - just a slight variation in the surface. I really only notice it when the sun casts a shadow ever so slightly on the surface of the fiberglass. The trailer has set out in the extremely hot Phoenix sun for much of the last 6 years (except when towing it in cooler climes to escape the heat!) I diligently apply 303 Aerospace Protectant about three times a year to the sides.
Is this anything I should be concerned much about or can do anything about (other than getting it into the shade)?

RE: what brand to purchase

I have noticed quite a lot of complaints with Keystone products. they seam to be the ones in the magazines that people are complaining about most often.
I have never owned a Keystone so maybe a Keystone owner can comment. Anybody else want to chime in on Keystone products? Back when I first bought our current TT about 6 years ago, there were similar things I kept hearing about Keystones. Then one hot Phoenix summer day I went out to look at Keystones and saw adhesive dripping out from around seams. The salesman of course said, "They all do that in this intense heat." Well, I looked at a lot of makes that summer and Keystones were the only ones I saw doing that. Don't know if that was a true indicator of build quality . . . but I must admit I did steer clear of them because of that (and other things I seemed to hear on here). Perhaps now they have corrected major Q issues - comments?
Also, just noticed Aerolite (which I heard at one time had BIG quality issues with the frame cracking) has the "Dutchman" logo, and that Kodiaks appear to be basically the same layouts as Aerolights. When did that happen?

RE: Surveyor TT vs. Passport TT

Since I am a tall guy (6'4") I am interested in the interior height of all the trailers mentioned (Kodiak, Surveyor & Passport).
Our current Rockwood 2502 ultralight has an interior clearance of about 6'5" and that includes lights and anything protruding from the ceiling. Since we are thinking of getting something a little bigger to facilitate staying out on the road longer, I'm just wondering . . .
